[Asterisk-Users] Connecting extern telephones,
Dear List members, I have an asterisk box whereon 45 GXP-2000 telephones from Grandstream are connected at my work. This works fine. Now I want to take 5 GXP-2000s to different homes on internet and want them to be part of the same internal telephone system. One external GXP-2000 is to be the night receptionist that should be able to transfer calls to any other of our extentions internally or externally. Then also I have 20 WIFI Handsets (F1000 Utstarcom) that work well on the local Wifi stations, but they have to work on free AP al over the world as well as internally as part of the local telephone system. What are my options to get these working for me? How can I get them communicating to each other. I hope that I gave the needed information, Please ask for more if needed. [Asterisk-Users] Help needed on Utstarcom F1000 Wifi Handset.
List, Is there someone on the list that is using or testing the F1000 handset of Utstarcom? If so, can you help me in setting it up on an asterisk box? I will use it as a wire-less phone when I am at home, and similar as a cell-phone when in reach of free AP's like in the airports etc. What is your impression? RE: [Asterisk-Users] defold usernames in asterisk@home version 6
Dear Users, It is not my intention to install a working asterisk for real work. The intention is to learn about it just by playing aroung with it for a wile. I will have a good professional installing an * in my firm. The best way to find out what is possible with the * is to play with it for a wile. So a few starting points could help me a lot. From there I can learn more. I downloaded the iso. Installed it, and then opened the romote GUI on an other computer. I can not open the different parts becouse it asks the user name and the password. The passwords I have changed, that is not a problem at all, but I do not find the usernames documented somewhere. They are installed from the cd that is made of the above mentioned iso. I used the commands from "help-aah" and they work well. So, a little help here might be in place till I am started, then I only want to learn to configure the different config files, that's all. Thank you, Do not be angry at me! He is correct to that if you are a linux noob, you need to go get a book and figure out the basics of linux before you embark on this project. Otherwise, you are just in for a world of pain as you try and work on a OS that you have no clue about and which is VASTLY different from Windows. This is assuming you even have the level of skill to teach yourself about Linux which hopefully you do. Dig deep, read long, and google you tail off. Then when you come back for help (which you will, we all do) at least you will be ready for what the gurus here (myself only being a humble jr. * user) can offer in assistance. There is a strong sentiment that we should each do as much as possible to help ourselves before we come to the community for assistance. Not trying to be mean but you should just know that about this list. In your case, I am wondering where you downloaded your copy of [EMAIL PROTECTED] I got mine here and instructions for basic settings are there on the site. http://asteriskathome.sourceforge.net Password change options are available by typeing aah-help at the linux command prompt. You should actually see an announcement saying this if you log into the linux box with your root login and password. [Asterisk-Users] in calling
Dear Users, Thank you all for a great Forum. In the past with my analog PBX I had 6 separate telephones configured auto pickup and they where connected to the meeting room's microphone. When we had a meeting, it was then possible for 6 members simultaneously to call in with a normal landline and be transferred to one of the phones. In this way he could be part of the meeting. Is it possible to configure that in the Asterisk? And how would I go to do this? Would this be possible with only one telephone in the house and 6 members to be able to connect simultaneously? Or is there something in the * that can do this? All comments are welcome. [Asterisk-Users] switches
Dear Group, This might be a little OT, but I am lost in this. What type of network switches is the minimum for use of an asterisk in a 70 telephones and 68 computers environment. Can unmanaged switches do the job or is Level 2 or level 3 necessary an why? The sound quality has to be as good as normal pstn lines. I'm currently doing something similar, and I've found some issues that I need to work through before I commit to deployment: 1) The phones can't do WEP on a high bandwidth codec (at least not against my 3Com access point) If you disable WEP then they sound ok. 2) Every now and then they fall back to g729 for no clear reason, which is a shame cos I don't yet have a license for g729 on * ! 3) The phones lack features that your users may expect. You can plug some of the holes with * features. 4) You will need to be careful with the selection of the codec if you want to get 6+ channels down an asymmetrical broardband (mine's 256k up and 512 down). So I strongly advise a thorough prototype ! RE: [Asterisk-Users] My Boss wants background music!!!!
Thank you, My boss believes that people are more happy when soft music playing in the background. The volume has to be low or even of when the phone rings. If this is coupled to the *, then the volume can automatically switch of or switch low. Therefore the volume can be set as high as the user wants because when the phone rings it switches of. With the existing very rudimentary PA system the volume has to be low all the time because of not being coupled. I like the 2 line telephone system idea, but it will probably be much more expensive. I was planning the Grandstream 102 phones. What phones would you propose me to use? [Asterisk-Users] My Boss wants background music!!!!
Dear Members, I am searching for a new PBX for the company. My choice is Astrisk. My Boss wants background music via all the telephones. This is done in a conventional PBX that he wants, but I can use the Asterisk PBX if it can do this also. As I said he needs background music on every telephone this is not to be mistaken with music on hold. The bit stream is an MP3 file of 8 Kbs. At the server it might be at the maximum 570Kbs if it has to send it individually to each telephone. The network: 10/100 layer-3 switches with QoS on a 1000Mbs backbone. Please, is there a way to get this done, otherwise I have to say goodbye to Asterisk (unless my boss gives in). [Asterisk-Users] Background Music via telephone speaker.
To everybody on this wonderful group. I am considering to use an asterisk PBX with 70 telephones and I would like to play background music trough the speakers of the telephones.
