[Asterisk-Users] Moving call control to a second server

2004-12-10 Thread Stephan Wik
We've got the following set up:
Local Phone <-SIP(no reinvite)-> Local * <-IAX-> Central * <-SIP(no
reinvite)-> Remote Phone

I've got calls working just fine between Local and Remote phones.
All of the outgoing calls / voicemail / Music on Hold are done on the
Central * server. I would like to configure it so that the Local Phone
can use the Transfer facilities on the Central * server.

No matter what I do it seems that the Local * server always intercepts
the # key. Is there anyway to transfer 'control' of calls to the
Central * server if a call is placed via the Local server?

I've searched in vain for info on Authenticated Transfer (is that what
is needed?).

Thanks,
Stephan Wik

We bought one of these units and had a lot of grief with them. The SIP
firmware isn't great at all IMHO. For H.323 they work just fine.

I've seen a number of posts asking for OS X support but I never had any
luck getting * to compile. Before I get stuck in (again) - has anyone
gotten the current CVS to compile on Panther?

Hence any UK provider can give you 0845's, 0870's etc.
Belfast is on the island of Ireland. This is an important distinction
since national calls in the Republic of Ireland are to all 32 counties
(that includes Northern Ireland). This means that a Dublin - Belfast
call is a national rate call whereas a Dublin - London call is an
international rate call.

This could be useful information to anyone wanting to terminate calls
for the Republic of Ireland. It's what we're doing :-)

[Asterisk-Users] asterisk -rx not working well

2004-06-19 Thread Stephan Wik
We're trying to use asterisk -r -x "sip show peers" to monitor sip
phone availability. Sometimes the command shows the correct output but
9 times out of 10 all that is returned is:

Name/usernameHost Mask Port Status
with no listing.
Anyone else see this behaviour?

I just spoke with their tech support who says you have to use their

mentioned IAX or SIP :-(

That's very clearly the case for Belgium, for example.
An Irish DSL user using sipgate to call an Irish PSTN destination
undercuts Eircom significantly i.e. 2.6c/minute versus 6.8c/minute.

They do it differently in Ireland. To get a functioning modem cable you
need to have a cable that takes the outside two wires and crosses them
to the inside two wires. We had hundreds of these made for us when we
were selling computers for internet access.

How this relates to the X100P is not something I know anything about
but this information may at least confirm that Eircom's RJ11 wiring is
'an Irish solution to an Irish problem". :-)

Good luck.
