centrex can be digital or analog. if you can plug a standard 2500 set into the line and get dial tone, then it is analog and will work just like any other POTS line (* would need an FXO card). you may or may not need to dial an access digit. 9 is the normal access digit but it may be anything or none at all (assume dial 9) - hcir On Nov 1, 2004, at 12:20 PM, Tomas Carnecky wrote: Paul Rodan wrote: It's picky about what USB controller you have. Although the rates were reasonable (except the installation), I got the distinct impression that they really didn't want to install BRI's. Their comments were well, BRI is getting quite antiquated, and the like. They said with the advent of ADSL, there's not much of a market anymore, as most of past usage was modem related. I'm a little worried about the pricing going up, and availability going down in the near future. I don't have the volume yet to justify PRI. What are other's experience in the US with BRI? There are a few circumstances when called ID can be blocked (it's rumoured certain spook agencies have this ability), however if a user withholds CID, then it's just flagged at the local switch and passed switch to switch with the withold CLI flag. The terminating switch should then NOT pass on CLI if the withold flag is set on to an end-user line. Calling the customer on the provided number(s) would be an easy way to check, and a setup fee could be levied to cover the provider's time and expenses, if required.
