[asterisk-users] Asterisk MGCP Centrex Experience/success story
Hello, I have recently a practical with students about Asterisk and MGCP, I m used to SIP and asterisk concepts, but I d like to know if someone has some experience or success story about Centrex features with MGCP (as far I know it s the most used protocol for centrex). I' d like to show the students some Centrex features ( I dont know much of it ). And how a Centrex can differ from a standard PBX It s not really a technical help I need but more an approach to show Asterisk can do Centrex too. Any experience would be nice. Kind regards. I had many problems with MGCP protocol in Asterisk. My enterprise dropped out the asterisk solution in one site because mgcp didn't work. Phones stopped working without visible reason (no dialtone) having to restart asterisk to get them working again, and strange things like this. I never could find a way to download a sip firmware to update the mgcp devices. -- Alejandro Vargas ___ --Bandwidth and Colocation provided by Easynews.com -- Asterisk-Users mailing list To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

[Asterisk-Users] Asterisk+mgcp setup+vrg 121
Hello I have a Vood vrg 121 (mgcp adapter) that I'm trying to register to my Asterisk but it doesnt work at all. I have no earlier experience using mgcp devices I have just been using sip phones so dont be to hard ;-) 1) Do I have to do anything special to activate mgcp functionality in * or is that made by default? When register sip phones you write "user id" for current sipuser like [121212] in sip.conf In mgcp.conf I have just seen Ip-adresses in those brackets like [192.120.0.1] , is there a difference between sip and mgcp when registrating them 3) Below is my info that I have put in mgcp.conf, below are some rows that I dont know what they do (what to put there) and I should be really glad if anyone could tell me what they means. I have set ???-"number" before that row I have question about ???-1 [121212] context=wtlab ???-2 host=172.30.1.126 callerid = "John Doe" <123> callgroup=0 pickupgroup=0 nat=no threewaycalling=yes transfer=yes ; transfer requires threewaycalling=yes. Use FLASH to transfer;callwaiting=yes ; this might be a cause of trouble for ip10s cancallforward=yes ???-3 line =>aaln/1 ???-1 Can I use current users id or do I have to have an ip-adress here? ???-2 Host, ip of current mgcp adapter/phone or? If yes I guess this means that I have to change this if device is moved to another place (?) ???-3 What is aaln/1 ? Thanks in advance! X-Lite doesn't support MGCP. You have to get the "pro" version for that. On Nov 27, 2004, at 9:05 AM, Leonardo J. I never tried it, but may I understand why you want to use MGCP? I use SIP for the both way traffic between my cisco's and Asterisk boxes which works well. Re: [Asterisk-Users] Asterisk & MGCP / NCS
Hi Ignace, I'm not advanced in voip but what I could tell you is that MGCP channel in asterisk is build on rfc2705 MGCP. MTAs are working in PacketCable 1.0 MGCP which is not that one above, it is something like NCS/TGCP. There are few differences between them so that's why mtas won't work with asterisk. I've had the same problem with Arris mtas recently. Although I've heard somewhere you can configure Terayon mtas to work with rfc2705 MGCP. Regards, Arek Murzyn Technical Support HALDON Sp. z o.o.
