I've been using SpanDSP 0.0.3 and the app_rxfax of January 2006 (I
notice there is a newer one) and it works great. No problem receiving
100+ page faxes via PRI.

Sorry to chime in a bit late here but can some one give me a URL to the

Thanks

Hi,

Did any progress occur on this? I too am using 0.0.4 spandsp snapshots
to receive faxes with quite a significant degree of success on a
1.2.24 asterisk box. I also get the only 8-bytes in a TIFF file
problem occasionally. Generally this occurs if there are also a number
of line-errors shown in the page-received report (this is not
scientifically correlated!)

I always assumed that this was ECM causing a page to be abandoned if
there were too many errors, but if I disable ECM in rxfax, I get the
same results.

Any feedback welcome.

Steve

This was fixed a few weeks ago. There was an error in the FAX decoder,
but only a very few encoders create images that hit the issue. If you
try 0.0.4pre11 you will find it fixes several other quirky compatibility
issues. I have cleaned up several long standing issues, particularly

SpanDSP handles faxes within Asterisk, through the app_rxfax and
app_txfax applications. It handles faxes outside Asterisk when used with
iaxmodem (there is actually a copy inside the iaxmodem package).

SpanDSP cannot be used by the standard distribution of Asterisk, as it
is GPL code. However, if you are using Asterisk within the restrictions
of the GPL you can add app_rxfax and app_txfax to Asterisk quite easily.

Steve

Actually, as Steve Underwood has gently reminded the list several
times, he recommends SpanDsp 0.0.2 for Asterisk 1.2

[Asterisk-Users] FAX Problems - PRI, Adtran and ZetaFax

2005-12-21 Thread Jesus Mogollon
Greetings

 I've been banging my head against a wall for over a
week about a problem with faxing and asterisk. I have ZetaFax (a faxing
application for Windows) connected via modem to a channel bank. The fax
request (incoming) comes in thru the PRI, gets sent to the FXS port
where the fax system is connected and Asterisk picks up. No prob there.
I call the number and I hear the faxing tones. My problem is that, if I
get a multi-page request, pages get cut off (most of the time).
Sometimes they get cut off during the middle of the transmission, some
earlier. None get past (I'd say) 70% of the full document being
transmitted. in my zapata.conf I have (for the FXS fax port):

signalling=fxo_ks
context=app-fax-out-test
adsi=no
callerid=3052545900
callwaiting=no
echocancel=no
echocancelwhenbridged=no
faxdetect=both
group=10
rxgain=10.5
txgain=-5.0
accountcode=avi
channel=73

I have two 4-port T1 cards in this machine (dual xeon, 1 gig of RAM).
Voice calls are perfect. I was reported that, under the old system,
everything worked perfectly (also an asterisk system, albeit a very old
one). Has anyone hit a wall like this? Any help will be *REALLY*
appreciated!

RE: [Asterisk-Users] FAX Problems - PRI, Adtran and ZetaFax

2005-12-21 Thread Colin Anderson

I have almost
exactly the same setup: PRI - Atlas 550 - FXS (Octal card) - USR
Total Control V34 - Digiboard 16 port - Zetafax 9. Works flawlessly,
except Zetafax is sometimes problematic tying up to certain fax machines. Check
your timing source on the Atlas, your timing source should be set to the slot
and port that your PRI is plugged into in the demark from the PSTN. This is
most certainly frame slips.

Another
thing you can try in the Zetafax configuration snap-in is under Devices
Your Modem Device Options More is to turn down your max baud rate to
9600, make sure Class 1 is checked, and use Software flow control this
gives maximum compatibility at the expense of slower faxes.

FWIW, Im
phasing out Zetafax inbound in favor of SpanDSP, you should give it a shot it
works pretty good in the latest version (0.0.2-pre21 I think) out of a few
thousand guys that send to me, I only have ~30 that definitely have a problem.
I hard-code those guys in my dialplan to relay the call to a regular fax
plugged into the octal card on the Adtran and everythings cool.

2005-04-21 Thread Anton Krall
Guys.

I just installed spandsp and configured asterisk for receiving faxes but my
first test came out wrong, all 3 pages of the fax were cut off.

My test was using one of my ATAs connected to a modem on a PC and dialed
into the asterisk using ALAW. Im using spandsp pre15 and asterisk cvs head.

Anybody had the same problems?

Wonder if anyone would (or has) write a fax gateway app that would read
it off the PRI or whatever then store and forward. Would enable
'internet faxing' without the requirement for T.38 or similar.

RE: [Asterisk-Users] Fax Problems

2005-04-21 Thread Anton Krall
I was doing fax over IP, a PC was connected to an ATA which used ALAWY and
dialed into the fax extension, both the PC and asterisk are local here.

Problem is that asterisk and the PC reported the fax came out right but when
opening the tiff file, all 3 pages were cut off at the beginging.

Anybody running version pre15 of spandsp? Could it be the version Im
running?
