I'll presume you're using 1.2.0
There are 1.2.0 zaptel srpm packages on cooker that build fine.
Haven't tried loading ztdummy itself though.

Just to rule out the obvious: you did build and install the zaptel
kernel modules ('make linux26', 'make linux26-install' or something
similar).

What kernel version is it? Mandriva 2006 uses kernel 2.6.something, and
with it zaptel does not need USB.
