Re: [Asterisk-Users] IAXTEL and the registration traffic
I have an full-time Internet connection with a limited amount of traffic per month included in the subscription. What can I do to reduce the registration traffic with IAXTEL which makes about 10MB/h? There is any way to keep the registration active ( I have a static IP address) without the need to register all the time? Dan, Sounds like something is not set up correctly or something else is happening. I just used a sniffer to qualify my connection, and over a 24 minute period there was a total of 13,379 bytes of traffic (no calls). Analyzing the actual packets indicates five packets occur every 49.7 seconds, and those packets (with headers) contained a total of 426 bytes. If I did the math correctly, that would suggest 10 megabytes of traffic every 13.5 days (not per hour). [Asterisk-Users] IaxTel: Using IaxTel Numbers As Asterisk DIDs
I was wondering if there was any easy way to direct incoming calls from IaxTel to specific extensions without having to create a separate context for each? It seems to be pretty strait forward with FWD, SIPPhone and other SIP based services -- you just add /Extension to the end of the registration. If there isn't any direct way to do that from within the registration statement, how hard would it be for somebody to work with Mark and create an edit screen for your IaxTel account that allowed you to set the context/extension for the call to reach. That would make the number useful ONLY as an Asterisk DID, but that's how many of us use IAXtel. Thoughts? [Asterisk-Users] iaxtel iax.conf entry?
Hello all, Can someone send me a current working example of what the entries need to look like for iaxtel and the iax.conf file inclusive of the register line? It's been quite awhile since I have done anything with iaxtel and I need to do a little bit of testing. Currently it appears that I can make calls out to iaxtel fine however inbound seems to be another question. I see 2 iaxtel entries in my iaxtel.conf file, one for iaxtel the other for iaxtel2 however the IP in neither entry matches the entry that I'm showing in my registry for iaxtel. It looks like I'm registering with iaxtel ok but if there is a register line that needs to be in the iax.conf file, please send this along as well and I'll check it against my own. Thanks alot. Can not make any calls. # telnet 69.73.19.178 5036 Trying 69.73.19.178... telnet: connect to address 69.73.19.178: Connection refused As mentioned yesterday on this list, iax v1 (which is udp port 5036) has been discontinued. iax v2 (udp port 4569) replaced it, and is now functional via iaxtel.com (as of 7pm CST). As Mark has pointed out a couple of times in the last 24 hours, the iaxtel.com server has been up/down due to a couple of problems that he believes are now fixed. As someone previously pointed out, telnet'ing to a udp port (as shown above) will never work. For those that aren't sure how to change their * server to use iax v2, one method is to look at your extensions.conf file for: exten = 500,2,Dial(IAX2/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]) ^ and ensure IAX2 is specified. If you're behind a firewall, then open udp/4569 inbound. ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

IAXTel Info (was RE: [Asterisk-Users] IaxTel seems down)
Good, glad to hear things are better. Without getting into too much techie detail, what was the root problem? There was just race that I introduced a while back. If calls came in while a reload was taking place in IAX2, bad things would happen. Now it's fixed. Originally I was thinking it had to do with SIP to IAX2 conversion but this ended up not being the case. However, in order to make iaxtel as scalable as possible, it still would be best to have iaxtel strictly act as an IAX2 soft switch. We're also working to improve the ability to have iaxtel know about other VoIP providers so that we can provide a single peering exchange for everyone within flat E.164 address space. This work is sponsored greatly by VoicePulse who has donated equipment to the project. Mark ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

Yes, I've been having problems as well but had not taken the time to diagnose the problem. Just did some looking and it appears iaxtel.com has removed the iax v1 support. iax2 seems to be working fine. A test call to an 800 number (via iaxtel.com) received an icmp port unreachable for udp/5036 indicating their server no longer has any iax functions listening on that port. In your extensions.conf, look for: exten = _1800NXX,1,Dial(IAX/myname:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]) and change it to something like: exten = _1800NXX,1,Dial(IAX2/myname:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]) ^ and reload asterisk. [Asterisk-Users] IAXTEL configuration for new iaxtel users.
After battling for days trying to figure out whatwas wrong with my iax.conf it was determined that I do not have any inkeys set on the digium server. Now whether that is something new or just in a few cases I am not sure. Messing around and reading on IRC and the mailing list I could get certain things to work and then break other things. Now I can dial a IAXTEL number, 800 number and FWD numbers using the IAXTEL service. The iaxtel configuration I am now using is. iax.conf [general] register = iaxuser:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ; For some reason be it a bug or a feature from what I have read ; the iaxtel context must be the last thing in your iax.conf file. [iaxtel]type = userhost = iaxtel.comcontext = incoming-iaxteldisallow = all ; My preference YMMVallow = gsm ; My preference YMMVdeny = 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0permit = 69.73.19.178/255.255.255.255 extensions.conf [general]IAXTELUSERNAME= iaxuserIAXTELPASSWORD= iaxpassIAXTELUSERID= 1700XXX [incoming-iaxtel]exten = s,1,Dial(Zap/3,20); Change to something that works for you. exten= s,2,Hangup ; You could add voicemail here. [macro-iaxtel]exten = s,1,Dial(IAX/${IAXTELUSERNAME}:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED])exten = s,2,Playback(invalid)exten = s,3,Hangup [outbound] exten = _1700NXX,1,macro(iaxtel,${EXTEN})exten = _1800NXX,1,macro(iaxtel,${EXTEN})exten = _1866NXX,1,macro(iaxtel,${EXTEN})exten = _1877NXX,1,macro(iaxtel,${EXTEN})exten = _1888NXX,1,macro(iaxtel,${EXTEN}) Before I get a chewing for the spacing in my config files. This works for me without any problems just fine. People are always telling me you can not have spaces in your config files like this but I have no issues with it. I understand that there might be places in the config files where spaces are not allowed nor appropriate but so far I have not had issues with the spacing I use. For email purposes I have formatted this with Courier New at 10 and it looks right in the email message. If you have other defaulted fonts and can not change them in this message then my apologies. Thisconfiguration comes from different sources with just slight changes but is now finally working on my end. If you can not receive calls from IAXTEL either from someone on the outside calling you or calling your own IAXTEL number and getting a call waiting beep and you have inkeys somewhere in your iax.conf configuration for IAXTEL then change your configuration to this and see if you have better results. Remember to change your context to something that is valid for your setup. Not sure if someone else has any suggestions to add to this but at some point we should add this to the iax.conf sample config file so that new users understand and use the correct configuration. The samples still show the inkeys for use with RSA and anotherexample for pre RSA but neither look like this one. Not sure why RSA is not being used anymore or if there is just a problem with the IAXTEL signup server but at least this works for now. My macros are a lot more complicated but I shortened them up here for easy reading. You don't necessarily need to use macros but in my case I use them for just about everything. They canshorten your extensions.conf file many lines by eliminating repetitive code and make for lessadmin errors not to mention then you only have to make the change in one place. Robert

Here's what works for me Move the register command for fwd to the sip.conf file (towards the top) as fwd apparently interfaces using SIP (not iax). Then remove the /114 from that statement. Create a sip.conf context similar to: [fwd] ; handles FWD SIP (not IAX) calls type=friend host=fwd.pulver.com username=65342 secret=XX context=fromfwd nat=no reinvite=no canreinvite=no Then in extensions.conf, something like: [fromfwd] exten = s,1,Dial(SIP/3000,20,tr) exten = s,2,VoiceMail,u3000 exten = s,102,VoiceMail,b3000 Personally, I'd remove the /114 from the iaxtel register statement as well until you have a working config. Then experiment with optional parameters. ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
Re: [Asterisk-Users] IAXTEL/ Dial problem
From: Brian West [EMAIL PROTECTED] register = abatista:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/114 doesn't work in iax.conf also you are sending the full 917009965342 you should only send ${EXTEN:1} strip that 9 off. OK done I forgot about the stripping the 9 off. Now I can call the numbers, But now how do I get the call into my system? How to I route it to an extension. bkw On Mon, 13 Oct 2003, Ariel Batista wrote: Hello I am still having problems with IAXTELL and FWD configuration. I have tried for over a month off and on to get iaxtel for inbound to work... and tonight after alot of troubleshooting we noticed this: iaxtel inbound will use the last entry in your iax.conf to auth against. So if [iaxtel] is at the top and say [voicepulse] at the bottom. An inbound call will try to auth against that [voicepulse] entry even with the [iaxtel] entry at the top of the file. I hope they learn a lesson by us, the list users, NOT responding to this, and eventually, after not receiving any list mail, theyll wonder hmm why is this list so dead? Just my .02. [Asterisk-Users] IAXTel Connect Problem - Mini Frame
I'm new to the Asterisk software but have successfully set it up to make and receive calls using FXO cards, voicemail transfer etc. I can successfully call the Digium test IAX using the examples provided.
