[asterisk-users] Config Files
Greetings, I have a fresh asterisk installation. When I install I get all of the config files. What is the best way to get a 'stripped' down system with just the bare config files I would need to do a sip connection? ___ -- Bandwidth and Colocation Provided by http://www.api-digital.com -- AstriCon 2009 - October 13 - 15 Phoenix, Arizona Register Now: http://www.astricon.net asterisk-users mailing list To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

What is the best way to get a 'stripped' down system with just the bare config files I would need to do a sip connection? In my experience, this was a bit of a procedure. But I thought it was worth it to reduce clutter. Basically, you need to find out which modules you need, and set autoload=no in modules.conf, and then load (with load=xxx.so) each module individually, making sure you've also loaded each module's dependencies. Finding these dependencies was a bit of leg work. I don't remember where I figured that out... sorry. Then you need to find out which modules need which configuration files, and then delete the rest of them... To get you started, I've attached my modules.conf (with sparse comments), and here's a list of the files in my /etc/asterisk directory: asterisk.conf cdr.conf cdr_custom.conf extensions.ael extensions.conf features.conf indications.conf logger.conf modules.conf musiconhold.conf queues.conf sip.conf voicemail.conf zapata-channels.conf zapata.conf YMMV, HTH, HAND. :-) -- C. RE: [asterisk-users] config files
Stephen, As far as I know, there's no way to pull the current config directly from Polycom IP phones. You can connect to the internal web server on the phone, and get/set some parameters through that interface, but not _all_ the settings. You really need to start with a standard set of xml configuration files, anFTP server, and start from there. It would be great if you grab the config for a phone tho. The phones will upload their XML files to an FTP server that you specify automatically upon boot. If you don't include other files there, there shouldn't be any configuration wipe, and you should be left with a set of XML files for usage. RE: [asterisk-users] config files
They will upload any changes made via the web interface, or via the menu's on the phone itself. They upload an 'overrides' file. They do not upload a new copy of the original XML files phone1.cfg and sip.cfg. Therefore, if you had no XML (ie sip.cfg, phone1.cfg) files in the first place, you'll still have no XML files after the phone boots. The complete config is inside the file /usr/lib/divas/divas_cfg.rc So you can just backup this file, or extract the XML part in it. Armin On Tue, 23 May 2006, Klaus Darilion wrote: Hi Armin! [Asterisk-Users] Config files under CVS versioning system
Hi all, I'm about to start building a bunch of asterisk servers with a team of developers and I thought it would be a good idea to put each server's config files under CVS so that we can keep track of changes, revert back etc... A lot of time have been spent to make these good examples. There's a complete IVR system in there, echo tests and even sample configuration for calling to Digium over the Internet. All should work directly after installation of the sample config files and an Asterisk restart. After compilation and installation, you get instructions on how to install the samples.
