good point. I have a freepbx book that has the list the correct path in the
rc.local. I am not sure what you mean by proper /etc/init.d/dahdi.

I have that file with some code in it. I still have a lot to learn but for now
its working and I can start testing.

thanks for your help.

so i went back to 1.6.1.18 and didn't have any issue with the install.
following the same setups as before with 1.6.2.

finished the install and now i have an issue were asterisk doesn't start on
reboot and also the flash panal doesn't run. i get this in freepbx. Could not
reload the FOP operator panel server using the bounce_op.

i know this isn't a freepbx mailing list but i figured i need to post all the
issues in case there related.

if i use the start_asterisk script in the free pbx dir it starts with no errors
and i can use asterisk -r to connect to it.

i am not sure where that gets added to the boot process. i looked over my steps
and i don't see anything.

i wasn't trying to ignore your help. i just figured i would go back a version
because it only takes a few minutes to install it and i know it works with my
directions. this is a different file then the issue i was have in the post when
i used 1.6.2.

I just found that in /etc/rc.local in my working box i have this.

touch /var/lock/subsys/local
/usr/local/sbin/amportal start

in the server that is not working i have the same text.

on the server that is not working /usr/local/sbin/ is empty

on the working server is working has amportal and fpbx

not sure why the files are not in there.

looks like amportal script should start asterisk for me.

Really, you should take this to a FreePBX forum or mailing list.

I don't know where your configuration stashes files, but you can start
Asterisk by hand using a command similar to:

sudo -u whatever-user-you-run-asterisk-as\
/usr/sbin/asterisk\
-C /etc/asterisk/{$PROJECT}/asterisk.conf\
-c\
-f\
-g\
-n\

-d -d -d -d -d -d\
-v -v -v -v -v -v\

This should give you a clue to your issue.
