It is not necessary any more to download any firmware files (they are incompatible anyway). All needed files are part of the v3 package. It is odd, that the file te_etsi.* is searched. This is needed only if the DMLT code (te_dmlt.*) is not available. Can you please provide the list of files which are installed in /usr/lib/divas and possible logs /var/log/diva* ? Re: [Asterisk-Users] Eicon Diva Server query
Hey guys, I just wanted to thank everyone (particularly Armin) for the assistance with my new Eicon Diva. I installed it into a new Asterisk 1.2 box this weekend and the installation was simple and painless, thanks to all your input. If anyone else is considering one of these cards, let me just say that the installation on CentOS 4.2 (RHEL4 clone) was incredibly simple: The source code RPM installed and compiled with no problems, the ./Config script found my card and set everything up for me. All up, loading CentOS 4.2, downloading ~200mb of updates (I only had the 4.1 CDs, so yum did a LOT of upgradeing), the Eicon Diva drivers, Asterisk 1.2 (with chan_capi-cm) and Asterisk Management Portal only took 3 hours from start to fully configured finish. :) cYa, Avi -- National Manager - Special Projects < Sydney / Melbourne / Canberra / Hobart / London /> Walter Turnbull Bldg T: +61 (0) 2 6233 0607 44 Sydney Ave, F: +61 (0) 2 6233 0696 Forrest, W: http://www.squiz.net/ ACT 2603 .>> Open Source - Own it - Squiz.net ./> ___ --Bandwidth and Colocation provided by Easynews.com -- Asterisk-Users mailing list To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

The 'V' does mean Voice, but this card has more Voice-features besides the standard 4BRI DSP features (I think it's G.723). But this does not matter when using with Asterisk and chan_capi currently. Both cards support RTP, which can be used to bridge a call directly to a SIP phone where the Diva card is doing all the necessary stuff (codecs, jitter, echo-cancel). But this feature is not yet implemented into chan_capi yet (due to lack of time and the Asterisk API does not really help). Anyway, for Asterisk you can use both cards with the same features. The reason I went with kernel 2.6.9 is that it contains all the needed CAPI support while a 2.4 kernel needs to be patched (check melware.de). I am using Fedora Core 2 with the latest kernel from rawhide (2.6.9-1.640 iirc). So no requirements other than not wanting to patch the kernel. An advantage imho is that my Asterisk box doesn't have a Digium card for timing and on 2.6 ztdummy will work without some special USB chipset. Finally afaik 2.6 performs better than 2.4 and I have found nothing that doesn't work. If you want to go for Fedora Core maybe it is an idea to wait 4 or 5 more days because then Fedora Core 3 will be released. What is important (if you want to use kernel 2.6) is that you need to use at least kernel 2.6.9 because a lot of CAPI/Eicon fixes where added. Divactrl is needed to load the firmware on the card: http://isdn4linux.org/~armin/divas/divactrl_2.1.tar.gz The firmware for the card can be found here: ftp://ftp.isdn4linux.org/pub/isdn4linux/utils/eicon/firmware/ Regards, Patrick ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

Has anyone heard of success using the EICON DIVA Server 4 BRI with chan_capi as a PSTN interface with ISDN/BRI and * ? I'm currently installing such a setup. Up till now I did not have any trouble - but I'm still learning to manage *. At first you should make shure that the CAPI is working correctly, afterwards you should go to install *. Yeah - it was exactly the i4l I was concerned about, but I couldn't find any references to capi drivers on linux and the Eicon card.
