I am constantly told that the audio coming out of our office is nothing short of stunning. BRI is a great thing for voice, although in this country the phone companies just can't stop thinking "data" when you talk to them about it. Would really like to stick an Asterisk box between the CO and the Nortel switch if anyone comes up with a BRI card that works in the US. Another problem is that all the Euro-BRI cards are ST interface. Here in the US BRI is delivered from the LEC as a U. -brian ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

If I do get the echo issues I'll look at digital options. My question: Is anyone using ISDN (BRI) in the states? I've heard ISDN4LINUX devices suffer bad echo but chan_capi works great. All the chan_capi cards I find though are for overseas (ie europe etc). Would I be better off looking at a fractional PRI? I'm only using 4 lines right now. I think a fractional PRI would be over kill. No one has any comments on this? No recommendations, or "you are stupid for trying that" or anything? I have a ASUSCOM passive card and a BRI circuit, but I can't get it to work. I've tried both isdn4linux and capi. I suspect problems with the card. I couldn't find a supplier in the US so I got the card from a supplier in the UK. With DSL in the UK, it's now hard to find passive cards, especially US compatible. I'm reluctant to suffer the shipping costs to replace this card. I'm thinking BRI for voice is a dead issue, at least here in the states. Thoughts? Mike -- Michael Welter Introspect Telephony Corp. Re: [Asterisk-Users] BRI In the states
Daniel, no you are not stupid. It's just that very few people have had a BRI experience in the US. The only CAPI card with support for NI-1 is the Eicon DIVA Server (single BRI or four BRI). They work with NI-1 BRIs and chan_capi. And chan_capi supports the active echo cancelation on the Eicon cards. If you can wait for a while then you will be able to use the very cheap hfc-pci based ISDN cards in the US, too (or our quad and octoBRI cars). NI-1 support is already on my to-do list for the zaptel BRI support, but i cannot give you an ETA yet. best regards Klaus -- Klaus-Peter Junghanns CEO, CTO Junghanns.NET GmbH Breite Strasse 13a - 12167 Berlin - Germany fon: (de) +49 30 79705390 fon: (uk) +44 870 1244692 fax: (de) +49 30 79705391 iaxtel: 1-700-157-8753 http://www.Junghanns.NET/asterisk/ Am Mo, 2004-06-07 um 16.22 schrieb Daniel Jimenez: > Daniel Jimenez wrote: > > Hi all. > > > > I've ordered a TDM400P with 4 FXO, but after using my X100P I'm thinking > > about returning the TDM400P because of bad echo issues.
