Actually the V-4BRI should be more expensive than the 4BRI. The 'V' does
mean Voice, but this card has more Voice-features besides the standard 4BRI
DSP features (I think it's G.723).
But this does not matter when using with Asterisk and chan_capi currently.
Both cards support RTP, which can be used to bridge a call directly to a
SIP phone where the Diva card is doing all the necessary stuff (codecs,
jitter, echo-cancel). But this feature is not yet implemented into chan_capi
yet (due to lack of time and the Asterisk API does not really help).

Anyway, for Asterisk you can use both cards with the same features.

Thanks for that. The quote was AU$400 less for the V-4BRI, though I'll
double-check that. :) Any feedback on how well these cards perform with
Asterisk? Are there other Active QuadBRI cards easily available in
Australia that I should be investigating?

These cards are very good active cards (much less interrupts than passive
cards) and I never had any performance problems with them.

Hello again.
With the Diva Server 4BRI card - remember that these are in effect 4 CAPI

Therefore you should have 4 sections in your CAPI conf as follows.

; CAPI config

internationalprefix=00
rxgain=0.8
txgain=0.8

you will *need* to have isdn4linux and capi4linux installed on your system

Hi Dave,

On my SuSE system the only way to get capi20.h is to install these rpm
packages; I like to compile as less as possible by hand... I have these
versions installed:
i4l-base 2005.8.15-2
Capi4linux 2005.8.15-2

Where capi4linux depends on i4l-base.

Whatever you prefer.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to thank everyone (particularly Armin) for the assistance
with my new Eicon Diva. I installed it into a new Asterisk 1.2 box this
weekend and the installation was simple and painless, thanks to all your
input.

If anyone else is considering one of these cards, let me just say that
the installation on CentOS 4.2 (RHEL4 clone) was incredibly simple: The
source code RPM installed and compiled with no problems, the ./Config
script found my card and set everything up for me.

All up, loading CentOS 4.2, downloading ~200mb of updates (I only had
the 4.1 CDs, so yum did a LOT of upgradeing), the Eicon Diva drivers,
Asterisk 1.2 (with chan_capi-cm) and Asterisk Management Portal only
