Looks like it's possible to modify some of the old BT Caller Display units with nothing more than about a fivers worth of parts all in. I'll put it in the 'rainy day' project list. If PSTN was more of an issue I'd go with the card you suggest - it's just not a big enough deal to worry with it - but thanks. Nope, I asked some years ago :) I could never get my Wildcard clone to work with UK CLID, no matter what patches I applied. I gave up in the end & implemented a very roundabout solution using a Pace modem, second computer, and a database... There are a very small number of modems which work with CLID. Pace being the only ones that I know of, which worked reliably... and Pace went bust years ago. You can pick up 2nd hand Pace modems off eBay, but by the time you've done that, you may as well have bought an A400P card... which will do UK CLID out of the box. If you want to take the Modem route, send me a mail off-list, as I have an implementation that may work for you. > > Has anyone been able to get the cheap clone cards to offer > CID in the UK? Only the A400P. But, TBH, at £55 with 1xFXO module, that's pretty cheap these days. I can heartily recommend them for being a) more reliable, and b) quicker at CLID detection than the modem option... The source of the confusion was I'd put the three 'usecallerid' commands in zapata.conf AFTER a 'channel=1' statement, so they were getting lost... I've moved them up the config file and now not only does incoming CID work, but the phone is answered immediately rather than waiting for the Bellcore CID to not find any data :) Another happy ending :) Cheers, Gavin. ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
RE: [Asterisk-Users] UK CallerID
Hi George, Could you send me your ISDN config if possible. I managed to get my new BT ISDN30 line working last night but wasn't getting any incoming callerid. I hoped this was because I only asked BT to enable CallerID yesterday morning. The ISDN is on a different site so its not easy for me to test at the moment, hence why I would like to confident I have it setup correctly. Thanks very much Alex -Original Message- From: George Gardiner [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 27 October 2004 10:29 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Asterisk-Users] UK CallerID Sometime ago I posted a query about CallerID not working on one of my analog channels on my BT Home Highway ISDN. It subsequently turns out that I only had CallerID enabled on one of the analog numbers, not both. Entirely my fault for not checking both lines. Now that CallerID is enabled on the second channel it works a treat. Many thanks to everyone who did the programming on this. Presumably one can set the CallerID commands in zapata.conf on a per channel basis, or is this a global setting? Apologies if that is an elementary question which I should already know. If it is a global setting, then that means you would not be able to enable CallerID if some of the lines are not CallerID enabled. (Asterisk won't answer a line if it is expecting CallerID and it isn't enabled.) ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users This email and any attached files are confidential and copyright protected.
