Re: [Astlinux-users] ALIX2c3 capacity

2008-06-06 Thread David Kerr
I'm looking forward to setting up AstLinux on a Alix2c3 myself.
Unfortunately the board that I received had dead ethernet ports so it has
gone back for exchange and the replacement has not arrived yet. I similarly
will use this as SIP uLaw only device, but I will hook in a SPA3000 for
access to an analog POTS line. I've had very poor experience with echo using
this device however... does anyone have a better suggestion for hooking in
just a single analog line to the Alix2c3 -- that doesn't cost an arm and a
leg (like the only mini-PCI solution I found).

Thanks,
David

I am no expert on "automon", but setting the following variables
might allow you to record in the proper directory.

Set(TOUCH_MONITOR_FORMAT=wav:monitor)
Set(TOUCH_MONITOR=${EXTEN}/${CALLERID})

Example here:
http://readlist.com/lists/lists.digium.com/asterisk-users/10/50441.html

Another approach would to run a cron job to move recorded calls from
the base monitor directory to the proper non-admin user's directory.

Please share if you get this to work the way you like.

Sure. Almost all of the zaptel hardware is supported. Specifically,
Digium, Rhino and Sangoma. There is support for Pika Technology
hardware, but there are some changes required to get it to compile
properly. There are a few odd-ball pieces of hardware from OpenVox
which would require some patching to work, but it's all possible in
Astlinux.

I have several net5501's with the 8 port Rhino cards (and one install
with the 24 port card, (7 FXO lines and 3 FXS). The 24 port card won't
fit in the case, but the 8 port cards fit perfectly.

no transcoding, ulaw end to end, SIP only. So you have a zaptel card
hooked up to the soekris board? that is awesome, didn't know you could
do it with that board and astlinux.

George,

I have several systems installed with the Soekris net5501's with between
10 and 15 phones. I'd say you can push the box much higher but it
depends on what you're doing. I'm not transcoding. Most of the calls
are terminated on zaptel (dahdi--whatever) hardware with on-board echo
cancellation. If you were transcoding, your mileage may vary.

Does anyone have an idea how many SIP phones/active calls/registration
requests(every 120 sec) an ALIX2c3 with a 1GB card can handle ? This
would be in PBX only mode. The max I've tried was 4 SIP phones and it
worked really well, just wanted to know how much I can push this box.

Hi Lonnie,

nice additions to the interface.

Any idea how to do the user directory logic with the "automon" (one
touch record) feature?
