[Astlinux-users] OSLEC in 0.7

2009-09-25 Thread Tom Chadwin
For info, if I understand correctly that 0.7 will bump mISDN from
1.1.7 to 1.1.9.2, I asked about OSLEC with this version, and got the
following response:

 From: Peter Schlaile [mailto:pe...@schlaile.de]
Subject: RE: OSLEC and mISDN 1.1.7

... as I already told you: it does only really work with the
 socket-branch.

Everything else will fail in one or the other way (you are
most likely better off with using no EC at all...)

Does OSLEC work at all well with this version?

  Hi Tom,

You have to make sure, that

  a) mISDN is loaded with OSLEC EC (check for OSLEC in dmesg, when
  loading
  modules.)

  b) echo cancellation is activated within misdn.conf:
  echocancel=128 e.g.

please keep in mind, that echo cancellation with mISDN
 1.1.7 doesn't
work very well. (To be honest: not really at all, since timing can
get easily out of sync and *add* echo to the line.)

I strongly recommend using mISDN-socket branch with LCR and
  chan_lcr-driver.

I am looking to try to implement the OSLEC for mISDN patch.
I use Astlinux 0.6.7 (www.astlinux.org) which uses mISDN
 1.1.7. The
mISDN OSLEC patch seems to have been applied.

However, how do I actually use it, once the patch has
 been applied?

Re: [Astlinux-users] Sangoma A500

2009-09-25 Thread Tom Mazzotta
I am running a Sangoma A200 with astlinux-0.6.7 on a Soekris net 5501. There is
a problem with this version which prevents the WANpipe config utility from
running (I'm sure other people on this list can provide you with the details).
The card works fine, after I copied a configuration file I built on the 5501
using FreeBSD 7.2 (which has its very own set of problems with Sangoma).

Subject: [Astlinux-users] Sangoma A500

Hello all

In a previous thread, Michael K mentioned the following:

there are not so many ISDN BRI cards with
echocancellation which fit into a net5501 case (the Sangoma A500
(which has hardware-ec) is too big).

Can anyone confirm this? I've been quoted a good price for an A500
with one BRI module and the echo cancellation module, but will this
fit in the net5501 standard one-slot case? If not, I can't think of
any alternative to the Digium BRI card.

Also, I read the some users (Jay and Stephan?) were having problems
with wancfg for analogue cards - not sure which astlinux version. Can
anyone confirm that all is now well, or is there still an issue with
Sangoma hardware?

Thanks

Tom

Re: [Astlinux-users] Digium TE122 with Hardware Echocancelation

2009-09-25 Thread Tom Chadwin
I try to run a 5501 with a Digium TE122 and onboard hardware Echocancelation.
First was the firmwarefile for the echcancelation missing. So I copied it into
 /lib/firmware.

I have the same problem with a TDM404E - does this solve it? If so,
will 0.7 come with the new hw e/c firmware?

wcte12xp0: Missed interupt. Increasind latency to XXms in order to compensate.
wcte12xp0: Error: Unable to service Card within 30 ms an unable to further
 increase latency.

I also see this message (many times repeated) with both the wct24xxp
(TDM404E card) and wctdm (OpenVox A400 card) drivers. Is this a
problem which needs a config change from me to fix? I can't see
anything wrong with the behaviour of the hardware after the box has
finished booting up, but it adds hugely to the boot time, so it would
be nice to get rid of it.

Thanks

Tom

Re: [Astlinux-users] Sangoma A500

2009-09-25 Thread Michael Keuter
Hello all

In a previous thread, Michael K mentioned the following:

there are not so many ISDN BRI cards with
echocancellation which fit into a net5501 case (the Sangoma A500
(which has hardware-ec) is too big).

Hi Tom,

the A500 seems to have the same size like the B700 which I have here,
and the B700 is 2cm too long.

You can take a closer look at new modular Berofix from Beronet
(http://www.berofix.de) which fits and also has EC AND it's own ISDN
stack. So you don't have problems with mISDN and OSLEC.

Can anyone confirm this? I've been quoted a good price for an A500
with one BRI module and the echo cancellation module, but will this
fit in the net5501 standard one-slot case? If not, I can't think of
any alternative to the Digium BRI card.

You can get a 19 case for the 5501 at https://kd85.com/soekris.html

Also, I read the some users (Jay and Stephan?) were having problems
with wancfg for analogue cards - not sure which astlinux version. Can
anyone confirm that all is now well, or is there still an issue with
Sangoma hardware?

The B700 is supported from Wanpipe 3.5.4 or newer, which is NOT in
Astlinux. I do not know for the A500.

Thanks

Michael
