Not sure what is the reason, but the Emacs is very easy to crash in this bundle (i.e., being exceptionally closed). The previous version is more robust than this version somehow. Can you provide a recipe for crashing it? Does this also happen with the Emacs 22.1 release provided at URL:ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/windows/? p.s., whether was the new RefTeX also included in this bundle? From: Ralf Angeli [EMAIL PROTECTED] What did you try? I noticed that the Emacs server didn't start since I didn't disable the GNU Server. They conflict with each other. Now it works. Thanks. But it works only when the Emacs is currently open. If the Emacs was closed, it seems that the inverse search cannot open a new Emacs frame. You can start it manually with `start-server'. But AUCTeX will do this automatically when necessary if TeX Source Specials mode is enabled. I put it into .emacs, so that it will not ask me whether to start the server when I try to view the dvi files. -- Adam _ Try Search Survival Kits: Fix up your home and better handle your cash with Live Search! http://imagine-windowslive.com/search/kits/default.aspx?kit=improvelocale=en-USsource=hmtagline ___ auctex mailing list auctex@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/auctex

Ralf Angeli [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: There is a new version of the Emacs/AUCTeX bundle for Windows available. I think we should also aim for releasing 11.84 soon. One thing I would still like to have done is transplanting the error regexps from preview-latex to AUCTeX (which means that we have to add warnings to the matching patterns) so that AUCTeX and preview-latex have comparable behavior at least getting to file and line. The insane stuff for getting to the right character position we can still save for the next iteration. Since the current expansion code relies more or less on preview-latex and AUCTeX being from the same version, me might as well move stuff like (add-to-list 'TeX-expand-list) out of preview.el and into tex.el. If preview-latex is not used, the respective expansion should not be used, anyway. For some reason or other, I have not seen my latest checkins on the auctex-diff and auctex-commit mailing lists.
