Not sure what is the reason, but the Emacs is very easy to crash in this
bundle (i.e., being exceptionally closed). The previous version is more
 robust than this version somehow.

Can you provide a recipe for crashing it? Does this also happen with
the Emacs 22.1 release provided at
URL:ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/windows/?

p.s., whether was the new RefTeX also included in this bundle?

No.

Thanks a lot for posting new versions of the EMACS+AucTeX bundle
regularly.

I want to call your attention to a small problem. At the Emacs directory
there is a file called Readme.w32. This file contains the sentence:

See the INSTALL file in this directory for detailed instructions on
building and installing Emacs on your system.

However, there is no file called INSTALL at that directory (or anywhere
else).

Best regards,

Jose Carlos Santos

I'm aware of that. But since the package is already compiled, the
INSTALL file is not of much use anyway. If you want to build the
distribution yourself, use the source package. This also contains the
INSTALL file.

Yes. I added --infodir and (unrelated to info docs) removed the

What did you try?

I noticed that the Emacs server didn't start since I didn't disable the GNU
Server. They conflict with each other. Now it works. Thanks.

But it works only when the Emacs is currently open. If the Emacs was
closed, it seems that the inverse search cannot open a new Emacs frame.

You can start it manually with `start-server'. But AUCTeX will do
this automatically when necessary if TeX Source Specials mode is
enabled.

I put it into .emacs, so that it will not ask me whether to start the server
when I try to view the dvi files.

I think we should also aim for releasing 11.84 soon. One thing I
would still like to have done is transplanting the error regexps from
preview-latex to AUCTeX (which means that we have to add warnings to
the matching patterns) so that AUCTeX and preview-latex have
comparable behavior at least getting to file and line. The insane
stuff for getting to the right character position we can still save
for the next iteration.

Since the current expansion code relies more or less on preview-latex
and AUCTeX being from the same version, me might as well move stuff
like (add-to-list 'TeX-expand-list) out of preview.el and into tex.el.
If preview-latex is not used, the respective expansion should not be
used, anyway.

For some reason or other, I have not seen my latest checkins on the
auctex-diff and auctex-commit mailing lists. Anybody else had more
luck?

There is a new version of the Emacs/AUCTeX bundle for Windows
 available.

ANNOUNCE: I noticed that Ralf's emacs+auctex have the
portability -- that Windows users can put emacs+auctex into
their USB flash memory and bring it anywhere!

The Emacs executable for 21.4 is the same as for 21.3: the difference
is just in the movemail executable which likely is not even present in
Windows.

What you can find on alpha.gnu.org from the download page of AUCTeX is

* Update zlib to version 1.2.3 eliminating a security risk.

* Update Emacs.

Thank you: having the Emacs/AUCTeX bundle is so convenient, especially
for compulsive updaters like me! The new LaTeX buttons on the toolbar
are nice: now it seems sinfully easy to use. It was sort of fun (in a
masochistic kind of way) to make AUCTeX using MSYS, but I certainly
couldn't recommend it to more nervous Windows users. This is great!

Gratefully

Ciaran.
