Hello!Who knows, please tell me which language is easier to use for the development of sound games?I am interested in games like ultrapower, stw, and to work with sound, and the network was simple.I have often written about the forum network in BGT, but did not get a good answer. I decided to use other tools! Thanks in advance!

Re: Monthly chat June 2016

Well as far as weather goes, I think it's been an unusually cold and dismal summer in terms of rain and such, indeed it was dribbling this morning, then again that's usual for the uk. My lady has got quite irritated by the hole thing, though thinking about Tj in the guarden we did spend some time parked on the laun bench outside my flat. Actually my lady's sister with whom I'll be staying as of Monday while I'm in America, more specifically the land of pencils and blood vessels has what in the states I believe is called a glider, though over here is just called a guarden swing, either way, probably nice place to parcus carcus and do either iphone or laptop related stuff, probably playing crazy party and doing work either for the site or  actually serious academical sort of things which I need to get done in spite of oncoming nuptules. Apparently it's uba hot over there too, which will be an interesting experience for me. @Cae, about t
he Nfb and their rather intensive ideas I can't speak, though I'm glad to hear they've relaxed on the hole guide dogs and canes thing, since the "get on without to prove you can" seems a bit loopy to me. Having seen a bit more of american culture, or at least that found in the vicinity of pencilvania over christmas, I do think people in the Uk are a little less extraverted when it comes to complete strangers, then again I will say I actually found it refreshing to have people come up and say hello, though admitedly being my lady's curious English fiance might have had something to do with that I don't know. One particularly wonderful thing about my lady is that she has pretty much the same intravertion factor as I do, though she's generally much more comfortable with herself in public when she needs to be, indeed it's ironic that she's far better at asking others for assistance when needed while I'm probably better
at getting on without other people at all, which makes things nicely complimentary.Things are very hechtic today as we have much packing to do and a long drive before a long flight on monday. On the plus side, I have worked out why my lady's laptop was causing hell, it turns out the navigation pane in windows 7 is aptly named, sinse a ppain it is indeed, especially with navigation. Hopefully it'll now be off perminantly, though we'll see. I also wonder if there is a way to turn off the touchpad on a laptop since she keeps catching it by mistake and knocking herself out of windows explorer. When we get back again I'll have to think of another machine myself since we're getting to the point that program compatibility with games like griff and sites like youtube is making xp a bit more trouble than it's worth. The mac plan unfortunately isn't going to be workable, since I just don't have physical room for two machines, nor to
be honest with the lack of games on mac would it really help so much with the compatibility problem. I'm tempted to just do windows 7 since having had to deal with the troubles with my lady's laptop I can probably mostly make it behave as I wish, but I don't want to be in the same compatibility fix in three or four years, so I might have to do windows 10.. My main concern there (other than compatibility and missing out on outlook express), is having the metro interface and whether I can make it behave correctly in list form. We'll see though, since I'll also need to buy new speakers and some other stuff as well, and my life is rather too hechtic at the moment to worry too much about computer issues, though I'll likely always keep an xp laptop around.

Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle!

With the gyms, I have got up to 11 thus far and there are still more to go, though I'm trying to go back and collect more cards from past gyms. I really! enjoy these battles against different opponents and hope more are added in the future. For stratogy, once I defeated the slapping witch things weren't too bad, indeed the first two gyms normal and flying were the hardest, once I put together a substantial normal dec I have been fine with most, though I plan to have several decs and mess around with type changing. @Sean terry, for the sticks game,  just use logic and work backwards. The object is to make sure you don't take the last stick, so you don't want to be in a position where it's your opponents turn and there are two, three or four sticks, since then he'll take one, two or three and leave you with the last one. What you want is the opposite, ie, for you to have two three or four sticks and force your opponent to take the las
 t. Work back in this way depending upon how many sticks are taken and you'll win, it's not difficult, just a matter of stratogy. As to boards, the only way to unlock more is apparently with gems, but currently gems are really! hard to come by, you can only win them online. hopefully this will be changed in the future since it's one of the major complaints many people have had with the game (particularly with how useless coins and experience are). @razvitasca, the valve game is similar to the old pipe game from Bsc. Walk until you hear a chunk chunk valve noise next to water and hit enter to grab the valve, then press the arrows clockwise, ie, up, right, down, left, you'll hear creaking sounds which means the valve is being tightened up up and the sound of the water will change, eventually it'll be shut off and you can move to the next. Of course, as usual do as quickly as you can. With the mine sweeper, again it's logic, though mho
this is harder. Each square you dig tells you around it how many mines in the 8 squares, ie, north, northeast, east, southeast etc. If you say dig a square and your told there is one mine next to it, you know there is one mine in one of those directions and so have to watch where you dig. You can however dig a square say three spaces over from the first, so find out if the mine is on the right hand side of the first. This probably sounds more complicated than it is, but if your stuck, go and try Bg mine sweeper or Gma mine buster, both of which are audio varients of mine sweeper and have comprehensive instructions. hth. I admit the game that is really! getting me is the whick one where you need to estimate time, and there's no cure for that, it's just that my second counting is lousy .

Well with tng, that's a shame since I believe there are about 180 episodes over all, so they've done roughly a quarter. As to blindmice, I never unsubscribed because I never subscribed. I'll check my info next time I login with the password trick and seeing if subscribing works, since hay pressing delete another time doesn't make a difference and it'd be nice to be able to check their site a little more conveniently to see if they have any new films etc.

Re: Python or PureBasic

Hello.I think that the best language for writing audio games is BGT.Why? It generates very small executables, it contains all the functionsyou'll need out-of-the-box and is simple to learn.Python and PureBasic, on another hand, are general-purpose programming languages. This means that you can create anything you want with them, but they contain only the basic tools to code the applications.I think that you should try to code some offline games first. Not will They give you more experience in writing code, with them you'lllearn the architecture of an audiogame and become proficient with the language you chose. And most importantly, don't worry if you make misstakes. They are thebest ways to learn and improve.Of course, that is only my oppinion. While BGT is good for audiogame programming, Python and Purebasic can begood to create very wide types of applications.Hope this helps.

Re: Monthly chat June 2016

TJT1234, I'd say it depends on the individual and what they want. Someone like Dark, who travels the world willy nilly and had enough reason to justify a pair of kevlar chefs' gloves, probably wouldn't get much if anything from it (And they'd try to pressure him into getting Windows 10. I haven't even told them I have a Windows ME laptop beside my desk. You know, in case I need... ummm... Power...Point?). Most people would/do hate slating, since it's like handwriting, only slower and errors are more troublesome and we have 1970s technology now which is much more efficient (I'm just weird and like the least bulky oldtech. I still want to make a Sega Genesis game, blast it.). There is definitely a culture to adapt to, and it ranges from obnoxious to useful depending on situation. And I've not yet encountered an acknowledgement that things that look vaguely like discrimination might not be just because of ignorance and/or bigotry (or untrained blind people ruining people's expectations).Yet the atmosphere is also filled with Southern Hospitality™ (disclaimer: probably only true for the one in the south), there is a lot of "do this, and since everyone needs individual attention, I'll check on the end result instead of watching everything" after you've proven sufficiently capable, and I'm not about to complain about the $210 maintenance check. (For comparison, I spent about $95 last night: $14 on a cab, and $81 on groceries and other such supplies. The cheapness of cookie sheets leaves me uneasy. How often do you replace those that they can afford to sell them for $5 for 3? ... ah, counterpoint, though: when people graduate, they invite the entire center to eat somewhere, and there have already been 3 graduations since I've arrived, and there's another on Tuesday, and fancy restaurants every week will chew up money much more quickly than just about anything, and I'm not to the point where I can just not go without feeling like I'm being needlessly rude. My pre-2008 self is looking at 2016 in utter confusion at that last bit.)The point seems to be pushing one's comfort zone quite much. Even if some of this involves weird "wait, is that efficient?" techniques, or if you never expect to need or want to operate a rotary saw, it's more the "be employably literate and educated" and "go get lost in some random city a minimum of 1000 miles away, find a couple things to do, then come back", and "Build whatever you want, so long as it's sufficiently complicated", and "feed 40 people, making as much as possible from scratch" endpoints I'm interested in. If you can already do those things if you want, there's no point unless you just want to see what it's like. If you can't do those things if need be, and have the time and a funding source to spare, sure, I'd give it a tentative recommendation. It's still too early to say for sure, it does depend on one's personality, skills, and other circumstances, and something might happen to change my mind dramatically at some point. I won't pretend I haven't found things to be annoyed about, but I find things to be annoyed about just about everywhere. (How did I manage to write "toothpaste" as "tffmshaste"? I wrote a novel on a Braille 'n Speak 2000, dangit!)At Dark: regarding the laptop, there should be a way to turn off the trackpad. Just type "mouse" into the search box, and one of the mess of things that comes up should let you disable it. (Personally, I just miss having a button that can toggle it. Why did they stop including those?). My laptop only lets me disable the actual pad, but not the mouse buttons, which is irritating, but gets in the way much less often than random scroll-tap-oh look you're in the middle of a paragraph-shenanigans.I've been wondering about the swing thing myself! I've only ever heard them referred to as porch swings, or just swings... but then what do you call the free-standing ones that sit between two trees with an apple tree and grapevines in the background across a tiny bit of grassy space where miniature foxes have apparently started appearing? ... I like garden swing. It seems to cover both situations well enough.(I randomly decided to rewatch Street Fighter the Animated series last month. I'd sum up the first season as "GI Joe with fireballs". The second season takes more influence from the Alpha storylines, meaning they can't get away with "Guile and character of the weak (who is almost never Ryu) fights bad guys like they're superheros instead of martial artists". Which, to be fair, fits Guile and Chun-li's stories well enough. It isn't as though Street Fighter set out to be a masterpiece of character and storytelling in the first place, after all. ... Hey, if the 1990s get cartoons based on fighting games, why haven't the 2004-2014 era gotten cartoons based on First Person Shooters? Re: Python or PureBasic

@thggamer I have to make 1 small correction. BGT generates very large executables because Phillip ahs statically linked all of the libraries he's using, and it always includes every library in a compiled executable even if it's used or not. So a BGT application will be 800 KB in size minimum. A pure basic app will be 7 or 8 times smaller. Now as far as specificaly comparing PB and python, they will both over all let you do much more than BGT. Pure Basic will probably give you a smaller learning curve, as all the tools you will need to make games (sound, input and networking) are included and at least on Windows have comparable functionality to BGT's Python will require more learning, but it's free unlike PB, has more community support and you can use libraries like libaudioverse with it.

Well it was nice while it lasted, and by that, I mean time I got to spend working on other projects besides Swamp.  The number of Skype and email complaints has been rising lately, and the latest posts on here have finally gotten me to stop and consider going back to Swamp.  *Heavy sigh*  If I'm coming back to Swamp, I'm going to be making some major changes though.  Over the years many things were added, removed, or changed because they "quieted the complainers".  I do believe that some of those things have been directly responsible for the troubles Swamp is in today.  I have a lot of brainstorming to do, and hopefully I'll have a game plan in order and can start working on code before this weekend is out.

@Flame alchemist, no, it's not possible to have all your cards, you can only have 60 cards in your dec at a time, that's why building your dec takes stratogy as if you had access to everything it'd be too easy, plus you'd never level since your chances of getting more cards would be rather small . As to coins, again, no use yet, though hopefuly that will change in the future. I am in favour myself of coins being used to play unlocked minigames, purchice gems, or be used in a roulette wheel, slot machine or other random chance game for prizes such as gems or collectables, but we'll see, hopefully this is something which will be expanded in future versions since having x thousand coins in my box and nothing to do with them while getting gems is so dam difficult is  a little urcsome.

Hi.Installing mac os X, even if its on a VM, may not be the best idea providing those specifications. I don't think you would get that far, as the most recent versions require 2 GB to run, and you would be splitting ram so that computer and the virtual machine have an equal amount to use. You could try prior versions of os X, but there would be almost no point because they are so different, and don't even include voiceover

The curse of game creation. You never get it right. You get people saying add this, take away that, and ETC. Before any of us know it, it’s a mess. It sounds like you lost your over all joy in this game. Am I wrong? To the rest of us, that would mean that swamp is doomed if that is true.

Re: i want to start programming but i'm new, where should i start?

I've only tested PythonWin with NVDA, outside of that I can't say whether or not it will work with Jaws. Does Jaws pick up the script you write it? What you may need to do is switch to the "interactive window" where it prints the output, it doesn't switch over by default it seems. After running your script, go under the window tab and press the number 1 or 2 keys to try toggling between windows and see if that works.

So it doesn't seem that people have figured out that  you can get gems from in single player. There are hidden parts of the maps that have "box", you press enter on it and you pick one of three boxes. One will give you nothing, one gives you a gem, and one takes one away I think. They're usually located at the end of the levels. HTH

Re: Python or PureBasic

The thing to keep in mind is that all programming language share certain similarities, so learning one language can help you better understand and learn others. Whats important is to choose a language that you feel comfortable with. In time you will likely end up learning other languages and go from there. As for networking, I not sure there's any particular language where networking would be considered "easy". In many cases networking could be considered a form of advanced programming as you should already have a grasp of the fundamentals before attempting it, the reason for this has more to do with the inherent problems with communicating securely and reliably between two computers more than it does with any particular language. Put simply, its much harder to suss out networking problems like Floating Point Determinism, Network Stability, and Communication Protocols when you don't even understand the language such problems are framed in. Focus on learni
ng a language first, then start thinking about networking. As i've suggested to others, I would recommend Python as its well documented, versatile, and easy to pick up. It does also have various network solutions and API's that you can look into as you become more familiar with it.You can download Python here: Python 2.7.11And check out the guide book Learn Python The Hard Way which can help you learn and familiarize you with the language by providing useful information and questions and problems for you to solve.

Ruined reputation, again.

Hi,So it seems I've ruined my reputation again. This is actually not surprising, as a whole bunch of stupid stuff happened that I just reacted in the wrong way to. Yes, I've been trying to fix it, but I'm not sure what the best way to go about this is. I recognize that one of the problems is that I make a game paid and then make it free again. The resolution, at least, for right now, is to not make paid games. I won't be making any games paid for now until I'm sure I can get my crap together.I know this sounds like a plea, but sometimes I just wish i could go back to the Scrolling Battles and MTG Pong days, where money wasn't involved, where I was just an innocent little dev making cool games. But sadly, I know this isn't possible. And I know I've made a billion and one threads about this already, but I'm going to say, I'm sorry, one last time. I've let you all down again, and I want to fix it. This time, however
, I mean what I say. I understand if you don't believe me, and I expect that, at least until I can actually prove this to you. I'm posting this topic asking what you personally would like me to do to prove myself. Rather that be take SBP down completely, or make it paid again, which probably won't happen, but yeah. I want your opinions. Thanks for reading guys, and I hope you're willing to try and forgive me for this major fuck up.

Yeah it may not have the best reputation as a game, but its a project you already have, so build upon that. Honestly, you make good games. the only thing is the choices made with them that you need to improve on. The first step is to acknowledge the fact that you messed up, and recognizing the fact you want to change. I'm not innocent either, trust me on that. but back to what I was previously saying, I would continue stuff. Then when you get positive feedback, ask if people would be willing to pay.

Re: Python or PureBasic

Complexity is unfortunately an unavoidable occupational hazard of programmers, but if you already understand some amount of Python then I will skip ahead and suggest some API's you may find useful.Pyglet has a number of built in audio functions and can handle wav files by default, you can also install AvBin to help load other audio formats like MP3's or OGG, but its been known to be quite tempermental. Pyglet also has bindings for OpenAL which can also handle 3D positional audio, I have some example scripts that demonstrate how to use them in my repository over here. There's also PyAL, which is a more basic OpenAL API that doesn't handle graphics, keyboard, or mouse input the way Pyglet does. The examples in my respository are compatible with i
t however. Then there's Pyttsx which you can use for TTS speech. For networking, you can use Twisted Matrix, it has a number of dependancies like Zope.Interface and PyWin32 you'll also need to install along side it however. It may be worth noting that much of my current networking experience is with Twisted Matrix integrated with Pyglet. You could also look into Pythons built in Sockets here and here. There are various tutorials and guides scattered about, and you could also try to find a copy of the book: Foundations of Python Network Programming, to help you along.

You could also look into PyGame, which has many of the capabilities of Pyglet.

Re: killer, new stupid game bye me!

Yeah, and actually, fun, is the only word I can explain the game. It isn't stupid, I was playing it for more than 5 minutes, since it's challenging. The game is awesome.

Hello aaron, this is hanif from indonesia. It'z so interesting tthat an audio game console is being developed. I would be interested to becoming a tester too. Can i do that here? Also, about getting the games, could you add a service that is similar to psn or xbl that allows you to download and purchase games into the console? Also, will you add another things beside a gaming console? I mean, in the console there is an entertainment features like music player, video player, and even a web browser.

Hey all, so I’ve emailed everyone who responded to this post, but you if you haven’t received an email from me (smashclayau...@gmail.com) about Blackout VR needing testers, let me know. If you’ve just come to this thread, and you are interested in testing their game or you'd like to be on the list for future opportunities, feel free to email me.
