Although we are getting a little off track here, I will say that I am rather disappointed in the Trek in several areas, I'm hoping its just kinks in a new system that need working out, but considering all the success they've had with the Victor Reader Stream, I tend to have doubts.I've noticed that if you leave the Trek on for an extended period of time, such as over night when I forget to turn it off before going to bed, the speech synthesizer quits working and it takes a 30 second power cycle to get the voice working again, this never happened with the Stream. I've also noticed that conditions have to be nearly perfect, which is rare in the real world, for the GPS system to aquire all of the satellite signals. It doesn't take much to completely block the GPS system from getting the signal that they need.

Installing Classic Trupanum (old version) on Windows 10

Hello guys. I have obtained the old setup for Trupanum 1.6 from pmsworld.tdrealms.com/blindsoftware, and I tried installing it on Windows 10. I get the following error:DXKEY.OCX or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered. File is missing or invalid. I want to try and get it compatibly running through command prompt. Does anyone know how to fix this error I have?Thanks.

sound and music looping

So, this has happened multiple times now. It first happened with Inform and I figured it an odity of the program, but now it has also happened with libaudioverse. What ever is being used for the looping algorithm has an issue that causes a pause in the loop before it starts over again. In libaudioverse, this pause has only really occured on longer sounds like music. What could be causing this, and does anyone have a good solution?

DrRacket Accessibility?

@Socheat, agreed. While it is true that some employers are discriminatory towards blind people, there are less and less of them every day. They discriminate against blind people and get linched by society for it because the employer most likely lost a valuable person who may have aided the company as a whole. Like I said though, there are less and less of those every day.

@dark, one of my problems with catness... I think that’s how it’s spelled, is her a, randomly flipping out and remembering stuff from her past, she seemed pretty close to the edge after the first book. B, she seemed to kind of toy with Peter and Gail, basically acting like she loved both of them until the end when she thaught gale killed her sister, or something, that ending kind of confused me. C, she killed coin, I mean, why? She voted for the hungergames to continue, and then did that? Split personality disorder, anyone? And those are just a few problems I have with her.With all that said, the fact the narrator sounded like she was drunk and high probably made things sound worse than they actually were.

You don't have to be a sales person. Their are lots of jobs that blind people can do. Can a blind person becomes a computer technician? I'd say yes. Can a blind person becomes a teacher? I'd say yes, too. So, there are a lot of possibilities in fact, if you just sitting around and waiting for an easy job to becomes available, you'll not getting anywhere soon. Trust me. I know, in some countries are hard to get a job for blind people, Cambodia is one of them. But just keep on trying, you'll eventually get it.

A way that if it worked, could maybe make aiming workable is to implement binaural audio. One way to do this is using stereo audio but upscaling it with headsets that put audio in 7.1. If binaural audio in videogames became more prevalent, then fortnite could be made accessible. If you can hear everyone around you spatially, aiming should be ok, as when you move the camera, you can focus on a person to aim at.

Also yes, by default it goes into a Gnome desktop environment, so yes just hit super+alt+s to get Orca going, and from there, super and type install and tab over to install Antergos, go from there.

As its been a few days, I wanted to give a quick update on development.I'm making decent progress towards the next update. A lot of work has gone into fixing situations where the client doesn't automatically update stats (such as mountain climbing). Additionally, I've fixed a couple bugs, a scripting error, and quite a few missing periods.I am actively looking to fix (or hide) the bug where, after unlocking a crate, the game will tell you there's nothing inside and then immediately turn around and display some items.To any sighted players reading this, I'm also looking into an option that will display the stat display as if you were playing the original game, or at least something fairly close to it. I'm making no promises as to when or if this will be available, but it is under consideration. If you'd particularly like me to spend some time putting it together, please get in touch.

Hi,I've managed to finish all quests, except for Laying down the law. I've marked the ambush sites but finding all campsites is being a real pain. The biggest problem is that I never know if a given campsite was already cleared or not, so I really don't know what to do. I believe I cleared four campsites, but now I'm running in circles for hours and this is the last quest before going to the game's finale.Can anyone give me the directions for those places? The Trek runs Android? I wonder what version it is? I don't understand why the Trek won't communicate with some Bluetooth devices. As long as it's using the SBC codec, it should be compatible with pretty much every device that utilizes Bluetooth audio via A2DP.

I happen to agree. If you want to talk about ways that games in general can be made more accessible, wonderful.But if you want to talk about how no FPS could ever be accessible or how no mainstream developer will ever care about accessibility, not only are you wrong but by even saying that you are harming likelihood of accessibility work being done.I can forward you over videos of gamers without any sight at all playing mainstream FPS games if you like.These forums are frequently showcased in industry conference talks as a great place for developers interested in blind accessibility to learn more. Being confronted with "not possible" / "never going to happen, devs don't care" is really not helpful. If anything it is a self fulfilling prophecy.The are advocates gaining traction. Blind gamers being invited into studios. Developers who really do care. Results are hard to see yet due to the lengthy periods needed to make mainstream games, but please please do not sabotage all those people's good work.

@sito, I must disagree with your opinion (yes, its an opinion, not a fact) because your opinion sounds like it was born out of laziness and the unwillingness to actually do physical activities. Now, while I understand that in certain places it may be hard to get a job for a blind person, the classification of it being a heavy-lifting job or a salesperson making it hard to get that job has absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with it. What does have to do with it is whether the company thinks they have any use for you and/or your particular skills that you told them about on either your application, your interview, or both. But the job classification has nothing to do with it. Common sense also has a factor in job selection, too; a blind person obviously can't drive, which is unfortunate, but it is one of those barriers that will, in due time, hopefully be lifted. But most jobs, either in the IT field, sales, PR, etc., are jobs that blind people can do. If a blind person says that getting a job is hard for them, and they tell you the job, and the job is not a job such as an airplane pilot, a taxi driver, etc., then there are only three possibilities:(1) that person did excellent on both the application and interview, but the company does not consider that person suitable for the job;(2) the person failed somewhere in either or both the application or interview, or even failed a particular test, such as dress, first impressions, or appearance; or(3) The person is simply too lazy and is using the excuse that jobs are hard to get to make it look like they can't get one to make it seem like their hard to get when it really isn't.Now, I will not exclude the fourth, though unspoken, possibility of location or law; that is, the person is either in a location where, indeed, getting jobs because of a disability makes finding jobs difficult, or you are in a country where laws prohibit those with disabilities from getting jobs (though I can't imagine such a country). In that case, Sito's opinion then becomes fact, though, as I said, I can't imagine such a country.

I used to play human+age but it's dead now and parts of it are breaking and aren't getting fixed. It's a shame because it's something I wanted to do  as it vaguely has a life simulator. You start in stone age and then you work at your character until you have enough stuff and go on to the Celtic age. You keep going until you reach age 10 (I never got past age 1 and there was never any time past age 7 developed) but it was still cool, with increasing complexity with each stage. It's a waste of time now. as it is so broken now and development is dead. I'm thinking of trying Torn City, but I was wondering if anyone had one that had a lot of skill development and wide assortment of things you could do without the crime element? I'm not into gangster games that much and would like something different. And I'm not a huge fan of future/sci-fi games either.

The amplified speaker I use for theTrek is also a Bluetooth speaker as well as a wired one and the Trek won't pair with it either.I take back what I said in my previous message, if the Trek could pair with just one of these, then I could have it at my computer desk and still play my music library through a decent speaker in the living room.If the dedicated speaker had worked, I wouldn't care about pairing it with the Max. For what it's worth, the dedicated speaker is a Tewel Retro Rock speaker, nice looking from the way it feels, and nice sounding.

You'll get used to it.Also, always have an idea where the ladders are as you pass them, even if you are just one step off the ground, the knights will go right underneath you. If they are coming at you from the right, go back to the ladder, climb just a little bit, wait until they are on your left then get down and run like heck. You can jump the  cannonballs but you just have to outmaneuver the knights because they'll get you if you try to jump them. Also get used to this game, the underground facility and the flying boat are very similar except they are more evil.

It shouldn't be too hard to come up with something that can write CAD scripts based on Braille input, but I wouldn't know where to begin making it compatible with the likes of Duxbury. In theory, we could just start with a monochrome image and assign an arbitrary depth to one color, right?

@Chris: The Trek works with a lot of other bluetooth audio devices that I have, the mini jambox as well as my Aftershokz. Just not the home for whatever reason. Either device is using a different Bluetooth codec. Chromecast support is probably more technically possible in the Trek than it is the Stream2 as the Trek is an android-powered device.

The price point for 3D printers depends on a few things, such as number of features, materials such as PLA plastic, metal, resin, etc. speed, and print area. There are cheaper printers that go for around 100$ but the print area on them is fairly small, around 120x120mm, and some of the others that are a bit more around 125$ -150$ like the Anet A8 and similar models require some assembly and fiddling but have a good print area of around 220x220mm and get the job done. Again though the problem is the accessibility of the slicer software, printer controls, 3D modelling, etc. but theres more accessibility prints popping up all the time, educational tools, maps, dice, etc. Honestly at this rate the Braigo will be obsolete before it even hits the market.You can see a price list for some 3D printers [here] for comparisons.

Even after the ability to navigate around, we're still left at a pretty big disadvantage. There's still the obstacle of tracking/aiming players. Being taken out without even knowing what was happening over and over again doesn't seem like it would be a fun experience. (and it won't have anything to do with how skilled you are) Having a system that automatically aims at players doesn't seem like it would be too enjoyable either. I think the best plan would probably be for us to develop our own game for the community.

@Flacus Yep, agreed about King, though even at his good moments he still has issues, for example he often uses profane language or explicit descriptions not so much to further the story, but more because he's king and just does that, I also notice that a lot of his so called "good" characters are randomly occasional arse holes too, plus in at least some of his books he does have a tendency to make all his female characters "wet tissues" as my lady put it, ie, women who spend most of their time crying. Actually its the gender thing and the characters being randomly arsy which is taking away from The sTand for me at the moment, since to have Stue redman point out to Harald that there is no need to rape women if a man can use his hand, this after noting that "there are some girls you can own and this probably wasn't one" doesn't make me exactly like Stue that much despite the fact he's supposed to be this super nice guy. ditto with knick decideding to sleep with a female psychopath the instant he meets her basically for no reason whatsoever, -its like the random scene in the mist where the main character sleeps with someone for no reason. Then again there is so much good stuff, description, atmosphere, and actually characters who are likable when they aren't! being arse holes or fantassising about women's breasts that this is quite a shame. --- @Darth vader why did you hate Catniss in the Hunger games/ I confess I was never a fan of the Percy jackson books. They were fun, seeing Crusty's bed emporium" and depicting hephaestus as a greasy mechanic, indeed in general I loved the repurposing of griek myths, however I just got totally sick of Percy himself being a real arse, celestial bronze used to basically kidify all of the fights and make things lack any sort of real tention, everyone saying how great he was, the attempt to write an intelligent character by basically just have her talk about architecture and above all the very very veery! blatant harry potter ripoffs! From a magical summer camp, to a prophecy, to a best friend who is supposed to be clever (although she never really seemed that bright to me), not to mention spending the final book finding out about the bad guy's past, and having every group of allies in the series return for a final battle it all seemed a bit too blatant,  accept of course for the fact that nobody actually ever got hurt. They weren't bad by any means, but even compared to other Ya literature they were just a little too overly fluffy for my liking, one reason why I've not picked up any of riorden's others. Dresden I did enjoy, albeit I got very sick of Dresden himself by the end of the series, particularly how he kept on picking up random powers and then still getting either kicked around or blatantly manipulated by everyone around him who he couldn't fireball! I did love some of the action sequences and awesome ideas, and some of the supporting cast who aren't! the winy wizard of the title rocked (I loved Michael), but in general Dresden is pretty much why I'm not crazy on urban fantaysy, --- all glitz and no go. Then again I love! the SEanon Mcguire October day  and indeed buffy the vampire slayer so maybe I shouldn't be too off against all! urban fantasy . As to a long way to a small angry planet, Mrs. Dark and I are probably going to read that together when we've done Sanderson, as it sounds absolutely amazing! I love to see realistic average characters thrown into weird situations and have to cope, and it sounds like angry planet is full of that, as well as a fascinating world, so thanks again for another recommendation, we'll bump that one further up the list .

I just looked. humanware only sels the mountbatten braille whisperer for around $2800. the cheapest embossers currently, on the market, are the viewPlus emBraille, for around $1995, and the viewPlus columbia embosser on sale for $1695.

I was under the impression that 3D printers were still comparable to embossers in price. If they're only about 10× the price of 2D printers, that changes quite a lot and leaves a massive pile of money off in the corner over there, behind the ottoman. I can't speak on tou station, but browser rpgs I've enjoyed in the past have included Core exiles (definitely at the top of the list), Puppet nightmares, great if you want very tactical combat, detailed mechanics and a good story, though bare in mind this  can get somewhat adult in places (think of it as Pokemon's evil big brother). I also really enjoyed Monbre, though development on that one is slow, and if you enjoy KoL I can recommend metroplexity as a game with a similar interface but without many of the flaws, plus a more interesting story. I also spend some time with twilight heroes which is again a superhero mod of KoL though that was less my thing personally. Crimson moon and alien adoption agency are okay for a bit of fun if you just want to hit things and do a little exploring, ditto with vandetta crime. Torn city has lots to do and while it'd gone through an inaccessible phase with nvda and chrome it was okay provided you don't mind hyper complex pages.Sryth had its moments, but when I checked again earlier this year it still seemed to have the same problem, namely charges for in game items that were insne! and in game content that forced you to buy them by being way hier than any equipment you could find in the game  making it a major pay to win game.I have recently been checking out animal acres and Elvio which is another pet game though on those I can't say since they are slower based.

@CAE_JonesI believe your referring to the [Braigo] printer, which was a school project using lego mindstorm pieces by Shubham Banerjee, then 13'ish around 2014. He had been funded by Intel and has been working on the next commercial version of the printer as some kind of cloud connected media center, retailing for around 350$. Their site does have an app though that claims to allow you to upload documents you can share and have converted into braille. Like the [Blitab] tablet though there's no word on a product release, little if any progress updates.The [Canute] looks like their finally moving into production though, says they began finalizing pre-production testing in March 2018. They don't give a final price but say it should be something like a new iphone, around 2-3£ per character with 360 characters, so 720£-1080£? You can [Contact] them to register your interest.I think though if your looking for a good embosser you should look into 3D printers, since they'll also have a lot more utility. The cheaper ones which require some assembling can go for around 150-200$ and use cheap plastic filament, can do braille and illustrations, or pretty much whatever kind of object you'd like. The only downside is that you have to use a program called a Slicer to carve up 3D models into printer instructions, and they aren't terribly accessible. Its one of the things thats on my to do list to look into, heh. Well, at least there's the [3Doodler 3D Start] pen, they seem to making some initiatives to help get them into the hands of educators and classrooms.

Actually, one thing you guys might've overlooked is the mountbatten brailler from Humanware. It is a portable electronic braille embosser that can work like a regular perkins where it brailles as you type, or in the case of the newer model, emboss files from the Memic app for iOS, or from a flash drive. The nice thing about this is it's only about 2000 bucks, can use any kind of paper you have, and, it is portable. It also can serve as a temperary note taker. So, you could write something in it, put a piece of paper in and emboss.

@CAE_JonesI believe your referring to the [Braigo] printer, which was a school project using lego mindstorm pieces by Shubham Banerjee, then 13'ish around 2014. He had been funded by Intel and has been working on the next commercial version of the printer as some kind of cloud connected media center, retailing for around 350$. Their site does have an app though that claims to allow you to upload documents you can share and have converted into braille. Like the [Blitab] tablet though there's no word on a product release, little if any progress updates, and the strong odour of vaporware.The [Canute] looks like their finally moving into production though, says they began finalizing pre-production testing in March 2018. They don't give a final price but say it should be something like a new iphone, around 2-3£ per character with 360 characters, so 720£-1080£? You can [Contact] them to register your interest.I think though if your looking for a good embosser you should look into 3D printers, since they'll also have a lot more utility. The cheaper ones which require some assembling can go for around 150-200$ and use cheap plastic filament, can do braille and illustrations, or pretty much whatever kind of object you'd like. The only downside is that you have to use a program called a Slicer to carve up 3D models into printer instructions, and they aren't terribly accessible. Its one of the things thats on my to do list to look into, heh. Well, at least there's the [3Doodler 3D Start] pen, they seem to making some initiatives to help get them into the hands of educators and classrooms.

The Trek did work with the Max through an audio cable, it just wasn't as loud as I'd have thought, raising the Trek's or Max's volume would have fixed it, but I didn't bother. The whole purpose of doing this was to determine whether the 3.5 mm jack was audio in or out.I'm not going to try pairing one to the other through Bluetooth because I'm not interested in using them that way. I already have a dedicated amplified speaker for the Trek, so I don't need the Max to be a speaker for it too.

You might want to contact Humanware about the Bluetooth issue. I have no idea what they're using, but it must be some really weird proprietary radio or protocol if it won't communicate with the Google Max or other Bluetooth headphones and speakers. Then again, it might be better if they simply built Chromecast support into the Stream and Trek. This would let the second generation Stream communicate wirelessly via Wi-Fi and skip Bluetooth altogether. I personally want to see this become a reality, so the more people that suggest this to Humanware, the more likely it is to happen.

I wonder if something is corrupt in your NVDA folder? Have you tried backing up the NVDA folder and deleting it from Application Data? I recommend quitting NVDA and loading up Narrator while you delete the folder. Try to install the Vocalizer add-ons once you restart NVDA. If the issue goes away, something must have been corrupt in the folder. You will have to install all your add-ons and configure your settings from scratch, but it should be worth it if the issues are gone. I believe the Vocalizer add-on also creates a file in the Roaming folder under username\Application Data\Roaming called vocalizer.ini or something like that. Delete this as well if it's present.

Now that I'm sitting down again I realize I was rather unclear about the situation in my last message.  As we all know, when it rains it pours... meaning when things do go wrong you tend to get a lot of things going wrong at the same time.  That's how my day has been since I woke up, haha!The internet randomly going out has continued during the day (my wife is going crazy over that), but I've already moved on to the next problem that popped up.  My server host (Yahoo) decided to update their system to something that doesn't work quite the same as their old one.  That's the system update I was referring to above, though I didn't think to explain what I meant.The new system changes are no longer compatible with how I coded a few things, which is why my website has not let anyone log in lately.  Once I found out that it was software changes on their end, it wasn't all that difficult to sit down and pound out new code to get the website running again.  Not fun, but also nothing that couldn't be done with some code changes.I felt pretty good once I had the site running again, but that's when it dawned on me...  one of the major things that Yahoo server does for me is handle account security, including logins for Castaways 2 and Swamp.  A few minutes later I had confirmed what I was afraid of, their new system sent its responses in a slightly different format.  I changed 4 lines of code and had "my" copy of Castaways 2 up and running just fine.  It's a quick and simple fix, but it is a needed fix.  The problem I now have is that Swamp's current backup of source code was lost and the best I have had is a copy from a few versions ago.  It's the reason I officially stopped Swamp development after all.The Swamp client everyone is using, expects information returned from the login server (Yahoo's) to be in a specific format, but now that is different.  Technically everything works behind the scenes, players log in, the server tells the game everything worked, but the unexpected format causes an error in the client and everything stops.  I do have a plan!Many people know that I work on code as often as I can, and that 90% of those efforts never amount to anything that the community sees.  For some time I had tinkered with a complete rewrite of Swamp, and other time delved into a potential Swamp 2.  Neither of those went anywhere, but each did represent time spent and code written.  What I believe will save us here is that a portion of the time I spent working on a Swamp rewrite, I was working out the missing changes between the 3.5 testing 7 client (the best intact one I had), and the current 3.6b client.The gap between my best surviving backup and the current version used to be so large that it seemed too daunting a task, but when I take a good honest look at where it is Now, it's not too bad!What this means is that unless some magic spell causes the game to start working again, players everywhere are going to have to wait for me to post a client update that understands the new response format from the login server.  I will do everything I can do make this happen soon, but it's not something I can do in a day.  I may even race to get this functional albeit missing a few of the most recent version's features, just so people can get back to playing.I'm brainstorming ways to make this up to everyone who will be terribly inconvenienced during this down-time.  One possibility is to manually add 1 month to everyone's accounts, but it's probably more important for me to focus on the repair before I worry about how to make all the angry players happy again, ROFL!  When this mess is finally sorted out, one huge benefit is that I'll once again have up to date source code for Swamp's client, meaning I can (if I need/choose to) post updates again.  I don't want people thinking Swamp is back under official development again, but for the immediate future it sort of us.So that's my frustrated rant for the day, haha.

Okay I am now back on my windows pc as opposed to my laptop. I deleted the Nvda.ini file from the Nvda folder in users/my username/ap data/roaming/nvda, but other than resetting all my formatting options etc, it didn't seem to change the state of nuance at all, the addons are still showing as loaded, but no options are appearing to use the thing or options on the menu to activate license etc. is this the configuration file you meant? or was there another one. I also tried deleting the Nuance ini file, but again no good (so I restored it again just in case). Any other thoughts? I did contact tiflo and they suggested the same thing, but either I deleted the wrong file or something else is wrong. I suppose I could try deleting that folder in roaming then removing Nvda with C cleaner and  installing everything again completely from scratch, rather than installing overthetop of my current copy, but I'd rather not do that since I have several addons I like and it'd be something of a pest, plus it might not actually solve the problem if there is another ap data file I'm missing.

to be honest I don't really enjoy it, from what I've seen of the alpha. Don't get me wrong, the writing and stuff is amazing. Very imersive, very atmospheric. However there really isn't much to it from a gameplay point of view, once you've done all the missions you can find on one station for yor level you just hit the same buttons over and over till you level, and stop playing every so often to recharge stats.

I could write one, but it's not that hard to do you click on invite links people give you, and hit the join button on the page that comes up, your servers and messages are at the top the lines of numbers are each servers you can only voice chat on servers that have it you can see a list of channels below your server list as for muting and unmuting your mic I'd have to check again because I don't remember. ctrl end can take you to the bottom navigating by headings is your friend and it also navs the messages each person has there own heading as in each message list I think if someone posts a message twice with no other message inbetween it still stays under that heading you can press ctrl end then shifth to go to the last message I think if someone mentions your name in a server you get a number below the number string that is the server it was mentioned that or it just means you have unread messages

I'm not sure. You'd need the printer to be able to feed thicker paper, and I'd expect the resolution would need to be decreased, since poking holes as small as a Dot Matrix pixel doesn't seem like it would scale up to a Braille dot by just using several in a cluster.Supposedly some tactile graphics are made via normal printers that just layer eink thickly enough to be felt. I think the Dot Matrix mod sounds more convincing.I wonder if there's a type of paper which can simplify it? The problem with refreshable braille is finding ways to lock that many dots in each state, while cramming them into a tiny space. But if the paper doesn't need to be able to change states more than once, could it be designed in such a way as to cheapen the process?

Yo. Just decided I'd drop in and give pack extracter. Here's what you do if you don't know. You take the file, place it in a folder that has the file such as sounds.dat. what the hell is going on? firstly I play the game in peace mode, and just now when I walked towards the gate for lanshan city the guard killed me costing me exp and putting me in the evil prison, the next thing I know a prison guard finds me and kills me in there costing me even more exp, this is a total joke, seriously pissed off right now.

Hey, just a couple more questions then.I haven't had issues with demons yet, but since they are coming... what should I do about them?I've found some things like demon totem poles in the south and demon worshippers here and there but wasn't sure what to do. I had the option to for example, destroy the totem pole or attack the worshippers, but wasn't sure whether that would make things better or worse. As in I wasn't sure if damaging their structures or hurting their worshippers would cause the demons to get to me faster or slower or more aggressively.

Well sure, you connect the razvellec to the impellomifraz and then all you have to do is throw the switch and hope she don't blow!No, seriously though, coding is not only a science, its an exacting science. The BGT tutorial is written in such a way that it can easily understood. If you don't believe me, check out other programmer's guides in other languages, or documentation for, say Python etc. If you can't understand the BGT tutorial, perhaps coding, / development is not for you, its certainly not for me, I am quite bad at it.

Hi.Can you tell me where I can find free race in the main menu? I haven't figured that one out yet. I know that I land on co continue drivers cup, but I haven't found free race yet.Will these also give you credits?I am a bit hesitant to play this game now because I also had it that a race was going fine and the assistance seamed to deactivate in the middel of it and I don't know why.That's the strange thing though, even though they don't seam to work, the menus show that they are enabled, that#s what's throwing me off right now.Edit, ok, i seriously love the daitona speedway, wanna see if I can crack the 400 there, I have a porshe 911 spyder in my garage, so let's see if that works.Greetings Moritz.
