@Razvitasca, no, you can Upgrade Your Health without Rusty becoming any stronger. If you Upgrade Your attack, however, his Health goes up. This is because when you beat the Inner fortress Level and get to Rusty for the first time, Your attack is probably not even Close to what it's going to be later. Say you have 35 attack the first time you get to Rusty. Now, you kill him, Complete the game, and eight months later, Your attack is  250. Now, imagine if his Health didn't go up as you Upgrade Your attack.You could just kill his first form in 20 hits or something. You want to be able to get a little challange every time you try to kill him, right? Now, imagine if you had 400 attack and 350 defence, so Your attack and defence couldn't go any higher. Yeah, you could get insane difficulty Levels because it would take you maybe 30 Seconds to beat him, both forms. That's why when Your attack goes up, his Health goes up. Note: It doesn't get any harder to beat him. His Health just goes up to match Your attack, so that you can't max out Your stats and kill him in like two Seconds. Haha.

Hi,I'd advice you to not buy it at the moment, because right now it seems that the sells has a problem where some of the dots don't move.Mine is effected, I've contacted them and they told me that they are working on a fix and they will send me a new good unit when ever they have any.I am not from the US, and so I spoke with them about shipping it internationally and they told me they will see on that with me when ever they have the new unit ready.I made them send the current unit I have to an US address then I shipped it to my country later on.

Used to play TB, kinda lost interest in it after a while. Wanted to play it about a month ago with a friend but multiplayer was down so... (On another note, I did make a random SoundRTS map, called MH1. its a SoundRTS map but nearly everything is random: food, gold, gold mines, woods, meadows, amounts of starting units... you get the idea. You might also like my Rules file; you'll definitely need it if you want to play this map in a truly reasonable amount of time. You can install it by putting mh1.txt under %appdata%\roaming\soundrts\multi, and by putting the rules.txt file under C:\Program Files (x86)\SoundRTS unstable\mods\crazymod9beta9.).

@Dark Champloo is a really good anime, would totally recommend watching it.  Sarah doesn't show up til near the end, though.  The Lunar Chronicles is by Marissa Meyer, and is...alright lol I like the characters more than the actual plot.Totally forgot to mention Kaname from Bleach.  I always thought he was cool because he acted all unassuming and chill then turns out to be one of the major villains in the show.  His Bankai made everything completely dark for the other person, so he equalled the playing field for himself and disoriented the person, and that's one of my favorite things to see in media - when someone uses their disability to their advantage to screw someone else over.  Why my favorite fight scene in Daredevil is the one in s1 where Matt turns off the lights and wails on everyone lol.Is the Disabled Visual novel accessible?  I'd love to be able to play it!  Sadly Doki Doki Literature Club isn't even remotely accessible, tried playing it and it doesn't even let you turn self voicing on in ren'py.

@25, the reason I lash out at those who cut me down when I am wrong is not the fact that its criticism. Its not that I'm offended by it. Its the manner its delivered that I have a problem with. I don't try to deliberately fail each and every time. But here's the thing. If I act arrogant, which really is impossible to tell since this is text, and not something like a voice chat where you can here my emotion and tone, and then you cut me down and quite literally force your way down my throat, your being hypocritical by first telling me not to do x and then doing it right back at me. That's not setting examples or helping anything, that's worsening it. And that's usually the trigger of all this bullshit, because both try explaining something to the other, but both sides do it in most likely the completely wrong way, and it goes on and on like this, until someone forceably breaks the argument up. When I post, I'm obviously trying to help. Telling me what I'm doing wrong in my methods of helping, or telling me what I'm doing wrong in code samples (like the one I did in post 4, which was handwritten, by the way), is fine. Doing it in such a way as to imply that you're better than me and always will be is what sets me off. That is exactly the wrong attitude. No matter how much you dislike me, I at least expect common decency. I may not have contributed anything of my own work to this community yet, but that does not mean that I haven't coded. But I'm not going to reitterate this any more. All I'm trying to say is that yes, I expect critism. Everyone does, everyone should. Its life. But if someone is forcing the way they think someone should do something down that someone's throat, and then you go and do it to them, its not going to resolve the situation, as many a topic has proven.Now, I shall reference my remarks in post 4 where I said a vulnerability is there if you allocate ridiculously large sizes to your arrays and then feed bytes into them. To rehash, I said: "You should never accept packets in 2-byte chunks. That leaves so many vulnerabilities open to your system its absolutely unimaginable." While this statement may have been pushed a bit far, of which I apologize for, it was most likely correct. While a denial of service attack may be the only thing we currently may be able to think of, or to find, there are most likely many others attackers either haven't found, but we don't know about them, or we just don't know they exist at all, but they're there. In the sample application kianoosh listed, the risk was literally nil; he scans the data for a specific keyword and ignores the rest. However, I was generalizing a bit; while I wrote that, I was considering the possibility that, if he allocated 2-byte chunks in this app, he may allocate the same, if not larger, in future apps, and wanted to prevent that, since I cannot possibly predict how he'll use that data. Off the top of my head I can think of regular _expression_ parsers, HTTP, JSON, RPC and others (though why you'd want a remote regexp parser I have no idea, unless your doing something like lambdamoo, where regexps are builtin functions).Now, for statement two, I complained about the imports. This was primarily from a refactorization point-of-view; I myself tend to remove unused imports, and languages like Go enforce import usage. However, my first part, about error handling, was correct, as the sample has absolutely none of which I could find.As for my third statement, I spoke about threads and mutex. I apologize for incorrect mutex/thread locking usage; I'm kinda bad at it.  Again, though, I was generalizing. I played it for a while and honestly found the game play rather manotinous.  I would have liked a bit more customization to go into building the maps I played, because all it ever really was was move units and attack after positioning them.  I fogot what the one I did was called, but I remember you built a civilization and spawned units and I really wanted more to be able to be done in that map set.  Not a bad game, just didn't keep my interest sparked for very long.

I quite literally do not understand any bit of this, you edited your post and I just seen it, so let me disassemble this latest nonsense.You say that you could add random junk into a buffer and that it would take a long time to scan; how is that different from me sending 20 1024 byte packets to you as opposed to a stream of 20k bytes to you?What exactly does it matter if I send a sql injection, (do you even know how that works), if you aren't connected to a database? Even better, if you do any packet validation at all, you can simply drop the entire chunk on the floor after the first few bytes are inspected. If you do have a database-backed service that you're providing, sql injection will get cleaned up on sanitization anyway, assuming that you're silly enough to pass your queries through from the user, so again that's not a security issue.If I send 20k bytes of machine code (whatever that means, presumably opcodes) to you, why does it matter? Unless you're dumb enough to try to execute anything someone sends you, that won't be a problem; if you are, whether you execute 20k bytes of opcodes or 1024 bytes of opcodes, shellcode is very very small, and limiting the buffer isn't going to matter.So simply put, if you think that limiting the buffer size keeps you from executing that scary machine code, or will somehow prevent a SQL injection, you need to reevaluate security and the design of the many apps I'm sure you're working on to showcase your talents!You touch on another issue, which is that of performance and which I've touched on already, but which I'd like to deal with a second time.Assuming that for whatever reason you scan the entire 20k byte buffer, that's simply a matter of roughly:1 compare to see if the loop is ended1 compare to see if the string does somethingif so, a jump, if not a jump back to the first compareopcodes in here, maybe a function call?jump back to the loopreally you're looking at roughly 5 opcodes for this loop, give or take. That's 10 opcodes executed in the event you need to scan an entire buffer. This is fast, and your computer does string comparison work all the time, so if you're worried about 20k iterations over a loop, security isn't the issue, but a poorly designed application, packet handler or anything else is.

Thank you, Kyleman123, for stating that so eloquently. Plus, I find it kinda hypocritical when someone says I'm arrogant, then goes to correct me and acts just as arrogant, if not outright insulting, right back. That doesn't exactly help the situation at all, and only puts fuel on the fire. Also, what I think Kyleman123 means to say is the way the transmitted bytes can be handled by an application. The larger the buffer size, the more data you can scan, and the higher risk of junk/nonsense being inserted into the data stream (as well as the higher amount). Such nonsense could include SQL injection attacks, machine code, etc. If you limit the buffer to 1024/2048 bytes, you can discard the rest of that nonsense (since, really, it can still be inserted into the stream, the buffer size being irrelevant since most, if not all, insertions are done through the client and then through transmission from the client, or through an intermediary such as an MITM). But limiting the data means you only read 1024/2048 bytes at most. If that contains unrecognizable code? No issue; discard it and move on. Allocate a buffer of 2-4 elements and that's 2-4 more bytes to process. That takes time and memory, and considering that that buffer is always allocated and released well, its probably possible to crash a system that way. I really don't know, I'm not dumb enough to try.

Okay okay, I put fuel on the fire. Now that you've accused me of doing what others are accusing you of doing, would you care to back up Kyleman123's post, or any of your own claims, or literally just add anything constructive to this post apart from whining that you're being treated unfairly? The former helps explain your point, the latter just takes up more posts. I've provided counterpoints to each of your statements that you have decided to refute, so, I'm waiting to see some information. If you respond to someone's post and 90% of what you say is wrong, why exactly is it an issue that people attack you over it? Could I be nicer about it, sure, but that road hasn't helped all that much in the past. Do you deserve to have people tell you time and time again as nice as possible while you're treating people who you believe are your inferiors like garbage that you're wrong? No, probably not. Does it make sense that people are getting frustrated with your constant track record of providing misinformation? I think it does, as the attitude you approach the subject with and the information and then your attempts to play the victem each and every time someone proves you wrong gets very tiresome after a while. I'm quite honestly failing to understand why you're upset over this, these people ask for help, and they at least deserve a minimum of your silence, and if not that, then you considering taking the time to provide proper knowledge. If you think that it's okay to fail 95% of the time, perhaps you need to consider your own skill set, your insecurities and evaluate just how much you know.I say all of this, Ethin as someone who has been in your shoes. As someone who acted just like you years ago. I thought I knew a lot about programming in general and felt totally justified in being a total asshole to people who dared ask for help, and when I provided it I was way off the mark. Okay, so I've stolen data from your system, crafted an sql injection attack, whatever and for whatever reason I've decided to put this in your buffer. What exactly happens now? How is this a security risk. It might slow things down as you try to read that size, it might allow me to slow your connection by sending 20k bytes, but really, where's the security issue here. Meaning, how would you as an attacker move from stashing data you stole, in your scenario in a 20 k byte buffer to making that data do something? If that data is stolen, sending it back to you isn't going to matter, it's stolen. If I write a sql injection attack and it somehow runs on your system, the buffer size isn't going to matter because most injections don't take 20 k bytes to write. There's literally no explanation what so ever for limiting the buffer size due to security reasons.

There are potential attacks I can think of, but these all have to do with denial of service rather than using the buffer size to somehow exploit the server, so I'm really struggling here to understand where the security concern is.

Just to add my opinion to this topic.Ethin:You need to think before you post, for the love of god. While I am not nearly as good a programmer as others on this thread, from the way all of you write, and the things I have seen from you in the past, I would trust everyones opinion, except yours. Your attitude to the op is immediately condescending. When a different opinion from yours is stated, you get defensive, and the condescension level grows over 9000. I think it would be a good thing for you to learn that lashing out is not the only way to react to differing points of view. Discussion and agreeing to disagree are useful tools which you appear to lack. They may even help you learn something, and will definitely cause you to be the recipient of posts such as the one I am now writing far less often.If that bothered you, you may now understand some of what others feel when they read many of your posts.

The reason you want a buffer as small as possible is because a malicious program could fill the left over space in your buffer with god knows what. It might be code they want executed as in an SQL injection or data they are trying to exfiltrate from your machine. These are just two things I could think of off the top of my head after a long day of classes, hockey practice, and homework.personally don't really see the "arrogance" people say Ethin is displaying. I am more of a lurker hear so i read a lot and don't really think its warranted. He posts a lot, usually fairly high quality stuff, that isn't baseless. "arrogance" is hard to attribute here partially because much of speech is word inflection, tone of voice, and emphasis. all of which is lost in a text-only medium. Granted, part of speech is word choice, which is not lost, but i think this is less of a factor personally.If its so upsetting to you that Ethin is posting away with all of his arrogance, how about just not reading his posts? responding in they way I see people doing is just making the problem worse by filling up threads with useless junk posts.The reporting tool needs to be used for posts that clearly violate the forum rules or is spam. not for our petty grudges. We aren't children anymore. lets try and at least put up an appearance of  acting like adults. instead of all of this petty bs back and forth.

Not sure if this is related to the extraction issues, but started having an odd issue yesterday, and haven't been able to resolve it, so thought I'd see if anyone here had any suggestions. When trying to launch the game, I get: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item." It was working fine for a few days, and then this cropped up. I can still launch earlier versions of the game, it's only 58 that's showing this. Using Windows 7 and Microsoft Security Essentials, and not seeing anything detected which might explain this.

I just started replaying the gate, and the Spiders seem to be fixed. On Easy it stunned me for a while and attacked several times. I still lost almost half my health but it was definitely survivable. As for dealing with the early game statues on higher difficulties, they will start swinging before they get in range and they keep a rhythm, so you could learn to jump, get a few attacks in, and do it again.

I also find it interesting that you suggest the wrongful use of a lock in the form of a mutex just in case you want it (which really isn't any way to program at all), but you spent so much time complaining about the fact that he was importing assemblies he wouldn't actually use. One is totally fine and won't cause any problems, the other is a misuse of a mutex and will most certainly cause problems. Just some food for thought. We can now return to our regular programming, defensive victem being attacked everyone hates me yada yada yada.

It's not a personal insult, with exception to the fact that you call yourself a programmer which is laughable at best. I recommend you go play with legos, because when facts hit the fan, you retreat into playing the victem and wondering why people stop to take the time to explain why you're wrong.Let me break this down for you. I agreed that error handling is a good idea, but standing on the fact that I agreed with one of multiple points is like buying a broken clock and claiming that it's at least right once a day. The clock is pretty useless for the rest of the day, but I suppose we all take what we can get.Handling all exceptions in methods that connect and send data is not correct, and here's why.First of all, if you just blindly wrap your code in try-catch blocks, you will not get the exception stack which helps with debugging.Second, multiple of these methods throw the exact same exception. So given that, your code flow consists of something like this:try{connect;send;}catch(...){...}Now you want to be able to handle certain things properly depending on what happened. If you're sending multiple chunks of data, you want to know where the exception was thrown, and not being able to tell if it came from the connect call or the send call is problematic. If you can't see this, I don't really know what to tell you except go get some experience and we'll talk after. This is not acceptable, and as you said earlier, if you talk to any real programmer, they'll laugh. The point of exceptions is that you can handle exceptions at the point where they're thrown, and be able to reason and know exactly where they were thrown without just wrapping huge chunks of code in a block. Your suggestion that you also wrap a try-catch block around main is also quite absurd and shows that y ou have little to kno experience with the tools of which you speak. Again, you would have to know what to catch, and if exceptions are being thrown that far up the stack there's something wrong and it should be allowed to abort, not just be silently caught and thrown on the floor. This kind of programming makes debugging hard, testing hard, and hides errors that will present themselves during runtime which you could fix.You state that the OP should use mutexes because there's a deadlock; this is stated as fact, not as a "you might want to do this":"What your doing here is joining both threads together and executing them at the same time, but they're pretty much being givenaccess to the same data at the same time, causing a deadlock. And this is the first trip that most programmers, myself included, make when using threads:accessing the same data at the same time among two or more threads."There are various things wrong with this; first, that it's not posed as something to look into in the future, second that a mutex (especially in your code) is wrongly used, third that a mutex isn't used, and finally, you have some issues with your understanding of threads.Calling .join on a thread is not "joining" a thread together. It simply waits for that thread to finish before exiting. Without this statement, the main thread will exit, thus terminating the other threads. You are not joining the two threads together, just blocking until they exit.If you create two threads, thread a and thread b, and then do:b.join()a.join()it will wait for b to finish; if b finishes, it will wait for a to finish. If a is already finished, it will return and thus the main thread can terminate.

not an admin, but some people have started to insult, and call others names. maybe it's just me. so how did you guys try out these commands without being an admin? I should give the thing another go, but when I played with it a few weeks back, I gathered in less than an hour, that it's still a clone. it's built on top of ultra power, or  BTB, I don't have enough coding knowledge to be sure. I actually left it for other reasons, but it seems as if it's time to dive into it again.

Considering that you agreed on some of my points, it wasn't all dribble, was it? Yes, in .NET, more than one method can throw the same exception, and handling of them can be done via single try-catch blocks, but for methods that connect and send data, like he's doing, handling all exceptions like this is OK. The mutex was a recommendation, not something I said that he had to use. The OP did not need to implement it if they did not want to. It was more of a precaution in case he did decide to share data; better to have it there in case you might, than to have it not and then to have to implement it. Again, that was a recommendation, not a demand.

I disagree that you should never use libraries, and system.net is hardly a library, it's a wrapper around winsock.I think what you're saying and what I will second, is that you should understand low-level networking before you jump to using a library to make networking more simple, so I recommend OP continue on this path.#8:He's not saying to connect to the driver, he's saying to learn and understand system.net and how sockets in general work before moving on to something else.

Ah OK. Well the app is about the most ugly thing I've ever seen. I have some vision, so I can attest to its ugliness. I made a few improvements to it though. It now has labels over each control so sighted people know what they do, though for screen reader users, this is set to report to them without needing a label. I made the speak button smaller, added the voices combobox, and a menu bar on top that has two entries. File and help, File only has Exit, which does work, though you can always close it with the X in the corner, or hit ALT F4. There is also Help, which nothing is set up there yet.

@defender, considering the fact that I haven't violated any rules in my so called "arrogants" as you put it, the mods "execution" of me, if you will, would be unjust, as there isn't a rule against arrogants. If there was, I'm sure not only me, but you, and many, many other people would be out of here. I have rebutted his claims about lower-level libraries being a better way by stating that higher-level libraries are much better and safer because you don't have to learn knowledge you'll probably never use. In post 4 I stated problems in the OP's code. None of that was arrogant in any matter; it was an opinion. There is a hue difference between arrogants and an opinion.Edit/update: While post 8 may have been a bit insulting, most developers will state things that they find wrong like this. Its very, very common. They may not be so brutal, but the message will be the same.

Luna stories sounds very exciting and without going into a ton of detail, that open source engine will probably help us greatly in having far less stale games around here. Hello,The Oculus Spacializer is a plugin for FMod.There are a lot of different types of the plugins but i am using the " Raw" version.Which means i can really dig into the low level system of it.And modify specific things to the engine.For example the Fmod full source code is inside the Audio Sphere / Luna Stories project.Meaning it's not a dll included in the reference but the source code directly editable.And this will alow developers to basically change anything they want in the engine itself.I am glad to hear that you are looking forward to the release.But i am not able to tell when it is going to be because still a lot of work has to be done in the game itself.The reason i want the game finished when releasing the source code.Is that the public will have a good example to start with.And hopefully teach new developers a thing or 2 while they look at it and modify it.But of course i will try to work as much as i can on the game.And be sure to check back in the topic.As i will release new dev builds and updated documentation for developers.So you can start looking at the file structure and learn about it so that you are prepared .Anyways if you have questions or suggestions they are always welcome.Regards,XSense

Hello, no problem glad i could help.To answer few of your questions.The  internal static  lineIs basically a variable, for example if i would add a text box using code.internal static TextBox MyBox {get; set;}Would be the same as adding it on the form but it would require a few more bits to make it show up on there.So using the definition we can call the tts to make something happen like speak.Its a bit confusing to explain but in short its a variable.And in this case its a variable pointing to the system.speech reference.For your next question.Why do i call it twice?The first one is inside the constructor.Where initialize is located.A constructor is basically the first thing that loads when you run the program.So Initializecomponents would load all the text boxes buttons etc on your form.So what i have added when the form is loading / initializing.Is basically to get all the installed voices and add them to the combo box on the form.The one in the bottom where i create another instance of it.Is to make sure that the speech synth is not null.When null it wont be able to do anything.So in case it would be null we create a new instance for it.This way it will be able to run the functions that you want.In this case set the voice and speak.If you need more advice or help.Or you want to learn some more be sure to contact me.I will try my best to give you a hand.Regards,XSense

Don't worry about Ethin Xsense, he talks like this to almost everyone. As with most communities their are bad apples and he is one of them. He's done this kind of thing for years and the moderators haven't gotten rid of him yet for some reason, and if you assume that I'm just saying this because I have something personal against him than, well, your partially correct LOL, but I promise that if you ask pretty much any long time user of the forum than they will say the same thing. I'm sorry you had to take that kind of abuse in a community that is supposed to be welcoming, but I promise you that that is not the norm among the coders here, and your helpfulness is seriously appreciated!Your doing it again Ethin... The incredibly condescending attitude and arrogant choice of words. I thought you said you would try at least? This guy just put out a proof of concept demo for an actual game, plus he's planning on giving out the 3D engine for free. Ah, but do you know for sure that the other applicant was more qualified than you, or are you just sugarcoating it to soften the blow of not getting hired?I'm sorry, but I find your sweeping generalizations and blanket statements to be distasteful. If you are arrogant enough to presume that 99% of businesses would hire a blind person, which you stated in a previous post, surely you thought you were qualified enough to ace that job interview, right?But, even if we take that little tidbit off the table, several of the most recent posts to this topic have expressed the hurdles that blind job seekers face much more eloquently than I ever could have. And, as much as I would love it if companies would allow NVDA, or any open source software, on their networks, the reality is that it usually doesn't work that way. It's JAWS all the way, because that screen reader is what the government is most likely to fund. Also, there's a lot of fearmongering and distrust around the open source movement in general, which means that only trusted applications are often allowed on a company's network, even if other, less cumbersome, and less costly options exist.

Well mister smart ass, you said it yourself, you’ve never played up or BTB. I have played DM, thank you very much. And from what i’ve seen, the only real difference is maps, along with a few other miner features like clocks, the hole first / hunger thing, and a few new weapons and items.Sure, it has more than BTB ever had. I’m not denighing that. My point here, is that it’s using code from both up and btb, which is inexcusable, no matter how you look at it. but hey, it’s fun, and it can’t be a clone because it has features x, y, and z, so who gives a fuck about the origin of the code. I’m having fun, that’s all that matters.It’s this kind of selfish atatude that will deter devs from actually making games themselves. They’ll look at topic’s like this and think hey, these guys are getting away with it, i’ll just grab the up or BTB source, add a few features, change sounds, and boom. Check out this brand new game.You want a game with realism? Go play stw. It’s a lot more legal, and while the dev’s maturity is questionable, he bearly ever plays, and the admins are quite nice and helpful, so it’s managed quite well for the most part.

Well, I got it working, thanks for the help. I must admit to not really understanding why that does what it does.These two lines I'm not sure about        internal static System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer SpeechEngine { get; set; }Is that some sort of pseudo class or something?            SpeechEngine = new System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer();Why is this being done, it looks like this was done above, I'm not clear on what's going on here.I also left that part as you have written it, even though I reference System.Speech.Synthesis namespace in my using statements at the top, but since I'm not sure what exactly is going on here, I didn't want to mess it up by just referring to the class inside the namespace.I took a slightly different approach to selecting the item in the combo box. I didn't need to write a keyboard handler as you've done as they just do that by default. Also there's a way you can bind the enter key to the form itself such that enter fires off a button same as if you click it or with screen readers, tab and space or enter on it. The hotkey exists in my app to press ALT P which is the same as clicking on the button.I was nervous about putting stuff inside             InitializeComponent();I didn't know what it did either. Honestly, I have no idea how I got this far. The only thing I can think of is a lot of this is just like wiring stuff up. If I had to code all of that stuff by hand, showing the form window rather than using the designer, etc., Yeah I wouldn't count on success.

Also, I never manage to kill that second virus in the program files x86 folder. It certainly might be doable, but you need lots of ubgrades for that and for now, what you should do is make it fall into the corrupted sector by jumping over it and eventually making it die. The first one is actually smart enough not to do that, but that one can be killed although it can take a while depending on your attack.spoilerYou will hate the stage after program files x86, because it is random each time you enter it.

Thanks, Jack!This unit is going back for an exchange, hopefully the new one won't have this Voice Match problem, but if it does, that would pretty much mean it's a software problem that will hopefully be fixed in a future update, but since I can't find anything on the internet about the problem, I suspect that this unit is defective and a new one will resolve the problem.Fingers crossed.

Yeah, pretty bad for Mac users, or those who don't want to just use demoware all the time. Ah well, I suppose I'll get VIP MUD and try it out for 30 days, but once that time is over, as a way of protesting, I'm deleting VIP MUD and won't come back to the game until a Mushclient/Tintin pack is created. Sure, the game doesn't directly endorse a certain pack, but it doesn't help matters by making a pack for a free client for their free service, either.

Hi tristan. Thanks for the really helpful advice. I didnt knew raising dificulty gets you more bits, this is really nice to know. My attak now is at 21, defence at 26. I still have 200 health, and i dont think ill buy more yet because as i heard, rusty gets the health you have too. Rusty is a hard challenge for me, for one symple reason. I am too cautious around him, i dont have enough patience to hit him long enough with the knife thinking i might get hit by a opstacle. And about my dificulty mod, i think maximum for now it is to 3.By the way, i joined the adventure at c group. Im going to get some  more bits now. Thanks again for the advice.

Hi@riad,I have discovered the bug you were having, it has been fixed in the codebase. The patch in the 1st post will be updated, Thursday evening when i can't do it sooner. I will do my best to upload it tomorrow evening, but no guaranties, am rather busy tomorrow, but will do my best @bookrage,I think you caught what we are intending to do. Offering expantion packs, while keeping the main game fun as well. When expantions gets released, the main game also gets fixes and updates where necessary. For example, when we want to include a new expantion, the main game also gets extra rooms/areas to link to the expantion, but also to enlarge the free world to explore, with things to do etc.Please don't think we only build new rooms and areas for expantions then, that's not true, we believe that our work on the your_adventure world, won't be finished very soon. Honestly, you're not missing much. The game is littered with typos and bad english, and the story is pretty nonexistent beyond a few very short paragraphs once in a while, it's very grindy. It's a neat idea but I wouldn't recommend it over all.

Alrighty, I've had a very busy but very productive day.  The website appears to be working now.  I've posted patches for Castaways 1 and 2 so they work after this server craziness, and also updated my server to run updated versions of both of those games.  Whew, time to cook some lunch!As a side note (I wanted to mention this just because I'm quite excited about it), I just got word back from an artist I hired, and he's finally finished all of the characters for a card game I'm trying to produce.  There are still some tweaks and adjustments to be made, but he believes he will finish all of the art I've hired him to do within the next month!  Horray!  I'm excited because it's been nearly 2 and a half years since I first started the process of getting this card game's artwork ready for production.  Getting good quality artwork is a massive undertaking... it reminds me why audio games are such great projects to work on, ROFL!

I beg to differ on sound packs, Flux has never had any! We rely on descriptions on rooms and objects. In order to save bandwidth, not every object spews long descriptions, unless you look at it.  It really is about design goals, and how things are set up.That being said, different people like different things, and some will love a MUD that others hate for personal preference reasons.

That's a shame about the multiplayer, has anyone tried it recently? I kinda wish it would be open sourced if the guy making it even says on his own page that he's not developing it anymore, at the least, make one more patch that allows people to run their own servers, and allows the game to connect. If it was a dedicated server, and you could have multiple games at once, and it was able to run under linux, I could host a 24/7 public server.

I know its been a while since I've been here, but I do check in to see whats going on.Engaging the players is something I have been reminded of lately, not just grinding, but doing something with a purpose. I agree! Whether its a variable scavenger hunt, or the new martial arts type non lethal combat. It should be interesting, and not the same old thing.I am still having mixed feeling on soundpacks, although I know some like those very much.

@Arron.Yes, BTB was indeed made from ultrapower code, however the point i’m trying to make is, ivan and Colton changed way more than just sounds. He added mines, teleporters, stars, the beginnings of a robot class, the titlecheck thing which was never used  still, he sort of tryed and failed to add timebombs, a proper jailing system, i’m looking through the BTB code as I say all this. Point is, those things never hit up. So yes, quite a bit of BTB, was actually Ivan’s code, and since Ivan never gave the DM devs per mition to use that code, this game shouldn’t be allowed here.

Problems with Functions in C#

OK, so I'm experiencing a highly frustrating set of circumstances. I am making an app that will allow you to type text and have it spoken by SAPI. That part is already done and is a windows forms app. You have the text box for typing, a control to adjust the rate, a speak button, and a menu bar that's not fully functional yet, but I have got the Exit option working. The problem comes into play when I create a function to get all the voices you have installed, grab their names and add those to the combobox. The code is valid, that's not the issue, the issue is I can't call the damn function. Now, I'm very new to C# and visual studio, which sort of presents its own unique little problems, in that getting an app up and running is stupidly easy, its more of wiring stuff up than coding. I think so far I put like 3 lines of my own code into it.Anyway, I'm not exactly sure what the issue here is. Perhaps its me putting the function in the wrong place, but it won't let me put it some places. Anyway, fuck sakes, if I put it where it is happy to reside, which is like outside the main class but inside the namespace, I can't call it. If I type its nae, Intellisense will not pick it up, which is usually a good indicator that you're doing something wrong. If I complete it manually, it doesn't work, saying something about thinking I"m trying to define a new function rather than call one, even though I add the semicolon after the parens. Also, there is only some places in the code where intellisense picks up void, so I put it where it will, because as I said, if Intellisense doesn't try to complete something you typed, its a good indication something is wrong.So no matter where I try to call the function from, or no matter where I place the function, no matter whether I make it static or public, it wants to throw a fit.I don't want to create a static class just to do something I'll do once per launch of the app.I also tried removing the function from the form.cs and putting it in in main.cs and making it public, but I couldn't even call it from somewhere else in main.cs, so if I can't do that, there's no way I'm gonna be able to call it in form.cs
