Re: BGT: Get text from txt file to string. How?

There's an example of this in the file object chapter. It's very easy to do. I strongly recommend you go through the help section. Otherwise, here goes an example.//I'll skip void main because putting braces seems to break things on the forum.file f;string file_contents;f.open("outfile.txt", "rb");file_contents=f.read();And as long as the file in quotes is valid, you now have a string containing the file contents of outfile.txt:Also, you can eliminate a line by going.file f;f.open("outfile.txt", "rb");string file_contents=f.read();But I'm overcomplicating ever slightly. I hope this helps!

Re: Controlling a Sphero using Python?

Hmm, some reviews [here] of the Bolt seem to indicate that it can't be programmed directly from a PC, and whatever script you write has to be synced to the app. The Python SDKs were largely informal hacks by the community written for the SPRK+ version, its possible the upgraded version of the Bolt breaks compatibility, though I can't say if it was deliberate or not. The fact that their website and app all link online to the cloud and it seems like the only way to access the Bolt though, i'd say its a distinct possibility. From the review:Sphero Edu (desktop)If you don't want to create and edit programs entirely on a phone or tablet, the Sphero Edu site has almost all the functionality of the mobile app. You can browse recently-uploaded projects, go through activities, and edit your existing programs. For the times when you need more screen space, the desktop site works well. The only catch is that you can't run programs from the desktop. To test your projects, you have to go back to the mobile app and open the desired program from your library. I would have loved to see Sphero use the Web Bluetooth API, so a computer could directly connect to the Bolt.

One more. After it's finished downloading, it instalsls and boots fine, but any chance you could look into removing Deluge as it doesn't work? If I may suggest somethingI'd like Virtualbox removed from the Gnome/Mate presets if it won't break *everything* along with Deluge. I'd instead like to suggest Pidgin as an option for IMing and such to replace Deluge/Virtualbox.

Re: SoundRTS, a real-time strategy audio game

Agreed with normal arrow navigation from one water square to another, but keeping the boundaries between land and water squares. I see if there is a path into a water square units can walk onto it and will all die. I was wondering if it would be possible to make a square both land and water units could cross. The reason being I was thinking of making rivers, but with no way to cross them it would just divide your land into separate areas with land units not able to reach each other. So if you could have some kind of big bridge that land units could cross but that water units could still pass, it would be convenient for this.Another thing, I wanted to ask about armour. I thought it might help to overcome the disadvantage of close range units, but it doesn't seem to work the way I thought it did. I thought the armour value gets subtracted from the damage of every individual attack. But when I send 10 closer range units to attack 50 further ranged units, they still all die before reaching them, even when their armour values are higher than the damage inflicted by the further range units. So how does armour work then? Does it only subtract that value from the damage taken at a particular instance, so when more than one unit hits that unit at the same time the armour value is only subtracted once rather than for each attack?

yup, agreed with post 41 entirely and with the message that is at 6-3 or so where you are practicing how to land but you decide to deliberately pass the landing spot. and oh yeah, I definitely remember dying many times trying to get the magical ball (there was not a lot of info back then you know, you spoiled adults or whatever) and so every bit was new, exciting, exhilarating, even if it all happened too fast. So much so that I decided to write about it somewhere on this forum--if you know how to use game cheater then searching that bit I wrote documenting my feelings and experience and how it was to kill the magic ball should be easier than a piece of cake. It just causes a feeling in you that is just not comparable to anything else assuming you call yourself a true gamer.. but in the mean time, more shady pm's lol. Thanks always, yukio for the game. The strategy mentioned here is also pretty good. Though i still believe the other way around is way more exciting and you just do not suffer as much. I like that in this game, There is always a reward somewhere when you work hard for it.

To move an encrypted home, either move the content while it's still mounted, or if it's unmounted, move the entire /home/.ecryptfs directory wherever you want it. As long as you remember your login or recovery passphrase, whenever you login, it'll transparently decrypt your home, as long as the target system has ecryptfs loaded into the kernel and the correct passphrase is entered.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

I fixed this today. If you say no to encryption, the root and swap are not encrypted, but the first user's home is still encrypted, since that is done in the post installation script. As far as I know, variables are not transferred from the main installer, so I think I can't just check if encryption=n from the post installation, plus ecryptfs doesn't really have any overhead, so I can't really think of any reason not to enable home directory encryption. If there's significant interest, I'll make the encryption setting in the installer truly global.

Re: need suggestions for android phones

Hi all,Sorry for reviving this topic, but what do you guys think about the Nokia 3.1?I'm looking for a relatively cheap Android phone. The Nokia 3.1 is cheap and runs stock Android because it's part of the Android One program. I assume TalkBack comes preinstalled on it?If possible, I want a phone with stock Android and this sounds great. The Pixel phones are overpriced just like iPhones, and I'll never buy Samsung Galaxies. Actually, I may be tempted if Samsung releases an Android One phone, but I highly doubt that. They'd rather force their garbage on you.

Re: I just got back from the movies and...

That's one kick ass chair. What theatre did you go to that has this D-Box? I'm mildly interested, if only to experience being in a make-shift amusement park ride for a film. Not a bad purchase, really, if it brings that much added experience to the film. Per the prices of the theatre's food offerings, I'm with you on that one. Expensive as all get out. Went to see the Crimes of Mister Grindelwald, and boy were those prices eye-watering. Makes me appreciate people smuggling in snacks in their backpacks to enjoy munching on something without having to spend so much cash, and just spend about 10 bucks at the dollar store to bring in chips and other assorted delights.

Hello again everyone and xsense, karate25 here. Xsense, you say that the language for the virtuals is called verlish and we should get learning? well I was always wondering about that. I've been told that when the sims speak, it reads in text on the screen what they're saying. Is this true? if not, please correct me if I'm wrong. Will we have text reading us back what our virtuals are saying when they speak? you definitely have my curiosity peaked. Have a wonderful day and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I can't install Linux onto it because the disk keeps getting ejected from the drive no matter what 32 bit flavor I use. I'm sick of wasting DVDs.Since we're talking about Windows XP, does anyone have a talking PE that can be used to independently install it? Hi, To everyone who was having key issues: This was an issue with the installation scripts for both jenux and android, both of which have been fixed. If you run an install now, it should work out of the box. Due to the nature of the fix, it will appear to hang at the initializing package manager step for a few minutes. Don't worry, it will continue after 3 to 5 minutes.

Re: I just got back from the movies and...

The haptic feedback sounds somewhat interesting, but I'm not sure if it's enough to make me go to more than the occasional movie once every few years. I don't like movie theaters, period. Why? Well, the prices are ridiculous! Food and drinks are overpriced. I suppose you could argue that you're paying more to be waited on hand and foot, but meh! There audio system is too loud and echoey. You can't pause the movie if you want to take a break, eat, pee, go to sleep, etc. You can't rewind if you missed something. The audio description units I've tried only broadcast the description, forcing me to listen to the description in one ear and the movie in the other. I much prefer having the track mixed into the program. You can't watch the program when ever you want. You must adhere to the schedule which is extremely irritating! If I had my way, I'd get rid of cable TV and movie theaters. I don't appreciate advertisements or trailers for unrelated content. I don't want to stop everything I'm doing at 7:00 PM just to watch my favorite TV show or movie. Netflix rocks! Also, most of the movies that they show eventually end up on Netflix or iTunes, so it doesn't matter. I'd rather have an on demand copy rather than being forced to pay every time I want to view it.What happened to Movie Pass? That sounds like a great idea, but apparently AMC and others hate it. How well does it actually work?

W!  What a freaking experience!  I'd like to simply say that theaters and the like have certainly changed a ton since I was a child.  I can't leave it there though, because if I did, you probably wouldn't know, unless you too have gone recently.  It doesn't even suffice to say that the whole experience was far more expensive than I ever would have imagined possible, and that it's likely going to continue getting more expensive as time goes on!Sooo!  What did I pay to, um, see?Aquaman?  Mary Poppins Returns? Escape Room?  The Mule?  Perhaps, as a music fan, I went to go see, Bohemian Rhapsody?  Could I have seriously sat through The Nutcracker and the Four Realms?  Maybe I wanted to see this new Robin Hood adaptation?  With all the recent hype I might try my hand at the Spider-Verse?None of the above.  Back in, uh, well, lets just call it last year because I can't remember the exact day, my wife and I noticed an add for Bumblebee on CNet that sounded promising; our son loves transformers.  The review hinted at a family friendly movie with action packed moments, thus, we packed ourselves into an Uber and took a ride.  Since it's Saturday here, Central time, we decided to go as early birds at a viewing scheduled for 10:15 AM.  We figured the place would be mostly empty, so we'd have the room mostly to ourselves.  In the event that we needed to go get more popcorn, more soda, more hotdogs, more pizza, more sanity, we wouldn't have to deal with a bunch of staring eyeballs we ourselves could not see.And the prices were insane!Popcorn?  Nearly 8 dollars.  Mini pizza?  Nine dollars.  Soda?  Five dollars.  Tickets?  Twenty dollars per ticket at the counter, about 15 if you get them in advance.  I got them yesterday, so whatever.Thankfully, we had budgeted about a hundred dollars all the way around, so we weren't short and got some extras, because it's not an every day experience anyway and because the last time I went to a theater and truly enjoyed the experience was, uh, about 17 years ago.  I didn't anticipate liking the movie much, so I figured I'd make up for it in other ways, such as paying for something called D-BOX...  And that's where things got interesting!I, Nocturnus Prime, was thrown around...for everyone who doesn't know, D-BOX is essentially motion feedback, which is the kind of thing you're used to if you played video games in the 90's and still do today.  If your controler vibrates when you get punched, get shot at, get into a car crash, blow yourself up in any myriad of ways or what have you, you've already experienced a bit of what D-BOX does.  This is a whole body experience, not just your hands.  You sit in an amazing seat I honestly wanted to take home because it's so freaking comfortable, then depending on what the movie does, things will start happening to you.And a movie like Bumblebee, is quite a way to try it out!The movie takes place in the year 1987, its events centered around protagonist B-127, a bot that can transform into a bunch of scary stuff you probably don't want in your garage.  After crashlanding in California and hammering it out with decepticon Blitzwing, an enemy who atempts to coerce the hero into revealing the whereabouts of Optimus Prime, he is discovered as a Volkswagen Beetle by a teenage girl in her uncle's junkyard.  Being drawn to working on cars and getting them fixed up, she begins to work on the Beetle only to have it transform into a bewildered and memory corrupted B-127.  After nicknaming the car "Bumblebee," the two manage to retrieve a message left by Optimus urging Bumblebee to defend earth, which is where most of the fun really begins! But not all of it!  I can honestly say that from the beginning to the end, that chair will jolt you in ways you've probably not felt unless you've been in a racecar.  As the motions are all synced up with the movie's sound and immages, in the case of this particular movie, you'll have your seat tilted forward and back and even sideways as soon as Cybertron is presented on the screen, jerked massively when bumblebee crashes after his crazy trip to earth, feel the motors of cars and helicopters as you're tilted this way and that in an atempt to capture the various motions you might experience in said situations and vehicles, and I'd say that overall, it's worth staying for the final Corvette scene.Final thoughts? If you have about a hundred dollars to spend and you're not really sure how to spend it, I'd recommend this as an idea.  With Aquaman and Mary Poppins currently holding the box office's praises, Bumblebee is a nice third place worth going to, particularly if you can and want to have the D-BOX experience make a ton of sense.  That's not to say it wouldn't make any sense to purchase such seating if only for the comfort it provides including the extra width and armrests and reclining capability, but for this stuff to seriously make your movie experience bang for

Re: CVAA Accessibility Rules Now In Effect

@MitchNo, since they offloaded communications through a mobile app they wouldn't need to incorporate it into the switch itself. Though there does seem to be some syncing involved with the Switch, which could potentially fall under the CVAA. That doesn't mean that games with comms wouldn't be subject though, Fortnite has its own voice chat system built in on the Switch for example, though since the Switch itself isn't all that accessible i'm not sure where that leaves it.Larger companies have historically had a lot of reservations working with open source code, Microsoft is kind of a outlier about it. I've also heard some of the firmware DRM on the PS4 is pretty gnarly, something along the lines of X number of micro-fuses embedded in the processor that they systematically burn out per update to check against for system validation to prevent hacking, which essentially means that the console can only achieve X number of firmware updates. That could be one reason they may not put it in, this generation at least.

@Ethin:You don't have to write code to contribute. Example off the top of my headEthan: Hey Hacker, spechdup is deprecatedHacker: Oh yeah?Ethin: Yeah and here's alternatives and here's some reference materials to get you startedSee how contributing goes.Yes, you got valid points, but you're charging in and just bitching and whining and not offering any solutions or alternatives then acting all high and mighty about oh, I won't contribute because code is messy. A shitload of code is messy, a shitload of messy code works great. Is Jenux messy? Yes. Does Jenux work? Yes, given enough time and effort. Is it stretching it to say it 'works'? No. Because I for one have run through the installer on a VM several times, sometimes running into issues, at other times getting a successful instaall and a working system. You may well have good points, Ethin and I do agree the code's messy, but.you neeed to phrase them much, much better. You come off as an arrogant know it all who is talking down to somebody without providing solutions or alternative programs they could use in place of speechdup for example.Lt's say the Vinux guys made a release topic and used softare you personally didn't agree with. Woudl you go off and blast them for it and not offer any *constructie* feedback, or would you just blast them for it and think you're better than everyone else, because that's how your posts have come off in this topic, a smug, know it all mofo who is s much more knowledgeable and to high and mighty to help out a little guy who is learning and wants to improve. I wouldn't be amazed if Hacker gives up on this in the future honestly. Which is a shame. I've changed my stance on the shell script since I have personally got it to work. In a VM, under virtualbox, and have got an instaed system, but am not confident enough in Jenux to try it out on one of my two computers. If and when that day comes, and Jenux proves it is actualy ready for insstalling on bare metal without leaving a huge chunk of encrypted swapI'll install it. Till then I'm sticking with Antergos as my Arch installer of choice. It gts me a nice system, that works.

Asking me to contribute to the Linux kernel is like asking me to contribute to GCC or glibc; I have absolutely no idea how either works, even though there are reference manuals and technical documentation, and for (especially) the kernel, I'd rather not compile a kernel and then break the boot sequence since I contributed and broke something since I didn't know what I was doing. Why don't you go try to find out the Linux kernel sourcecode or GCC's and then tell me I should contribute. Contributing to any big codebase is *no easy* task. @Mitch"Look! I mean, listen to those beautiful out of tune trumpets!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kcF7E69C6Q

About Germany for the visually impaired

2019-01-05 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : jonikster via Audiogames-reflector

About Germany for the visually impaired

Hello.I hope someone remembers my topics about immigration, about choosing between the USA and England, etc.At the moment I understand that in these countries I need a lot of money. In addition, there are usually 5 ways of immigration:1. Marriage:But now I have a girlfriend, and I do not think this is a good way out.2. Work:I should be a really cool specialist to get a job. Although some companies in my country offer a job with a future transfer to an office in another country.3. Study:Getting an education. Why not?4. Political asylum:I am familiar with those who have found immigration lawyers who helped them immigrate through political asylum. It's not as expensive as school or investment, but it's risky...5. Business:In the case of England, I need to invest 300,000 pounds in my business, in such cases, I can immigrate.I have rich relatives who can agree to help me with money for education. But I'm not that kind of person. I'd like to earn immigration on my own.I think remote work is possible, but this has few guarantees. And while I think, a very important event has happened for me!On December 19, the German parliament approved a bill to abolish employment in Germany for non-German and non-European citizens.Previously, in order for an employer to be able to hire a non-German employee, he had to do two things:1) Prove to the German government that there are no Germans in the German labor market who can receive this vocation;2) Same as in the first paragraph, only with the citizens of the European Union. Now, the German government thought. If in Germany to attract more workers, the country will receive a plus 1% to the economy. This is not bad if you know. The bill says that now the employer doesn't need to prove the presence of the necessary employees in the German labor market and the labor market of the European Union. In addition, anyone can get the opportunity to stay in Germany for six months in search of work. Naturally, without social assistance, this person must provide for himself. This bill was approved, but not yet adopted. However, 100% of it will be adopted soon, when this bill will be considered in the Bundestag, when this bill is signed by the president and the chancellor.I was in Berlin, besides, I was learning German. Now I have decided to leave for Germany in a year, and to work there for some time.If there are blind people here who lived or live in Germany, I ask you to briefly describe life in Germany for you as a visually impaired. Thanks in advance!

@21Use a random number generator. If it picks 1, use python. If it picks 2, use C#. And then don't look back and become proficiant in one language instead of pondering the choice for ages

Re: Playstation Classic discussion

I'm personally surprised that there aren't any Crash Bandicoot games on the console. I could be wrong about what console they originated on, but I know that they were a Sony exclusive for the longest time. Also, the director's cut of Resident Evil? Now you have to listen to the crappy basement music...Also FamilyMario, "Oh Boy! I'm so hungry, I could eat an Octorok!" lol

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Also, @Ethin: The AUR has speechdup and many other distros. Are you going to go of and rail at them for saying oh Ubuntu *shouldn't* have speechdup, for an example, or oh Talking Arch should ditch such and such and such and such? Because. Again. Put up or shut up. You've not offered to helpp or contribute code. ALl you've done is bitch and whine without offering any alternatives to softare you claim (without proof) is deprecated.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Okay, so I can scratch rhvoice-git. THat's in the AUR. Still leads me to believe the fredos-accessible is in the Jenux repo or I'm missing something. Which again leads back to my previous point. I'd like to add the repo for one (ONE) package plus dependancies.Ethin, how about you stop trying to micro manage this project and let Hacker do his thing. You go make your own accessible Arch with a proven installer and back up all your 'oh Hacker ought to do X Y Z', claims because..Jenux installs a working system. Is some software deprecated? Yes. Does it do its job? Yes. Could it be better? Absolutely, but Hacker is stil learning. Give him credit.TL:DR Put up or shut up, in other words. Either help him out by pointing out alternatives, i.e. yes, speechdup is depractted but you could use this this tha nd this and here's resources, now learn about this, or go make your own ISO and release it to the world.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

All I realy want out of it and I'm not even sure if it's in the jenux or the main, is the fredos-accessible stuff and that's it from there really. I'll try again in a VM and check if I can do what I want to in said VM.I mean, the stuf I use like pidgin, puprle-skypeweb and such is in the main repo. I can prety much install that on any install. And just because I add a repo does *not* mean I'm installing any packages from it, because correct me if I'm wrong, just because I add the Jenux repo then do a sudo pacman -Syyu, doesn't mean it magically installs the things in there to the system, correct? Yes, speechdup may be deprecated but for the time being, it still works and it is certainly better than nothing.Now. Related question. Jenux has hrvoice. I want hrvoice on my Antergos install with its voices. That's my project for the next few hours. I'll assume that to get the hrvoice-git I'll again need the Jenux repo, because I'm unsure exactly which repo it's in.

Re: The right way. Choose between C# and Python for audio game development

visualstudio,Thank you so much for your post.Guy, you say a lot of useful things. And I'm very happy reading your messages.I didn't think you were dealing with C# or Python. And I'm interested in your opinion. If you choose between C# and Python, what would you choose? You can write me on Skype. I'll be glad to know your opinion. In Python, I have the same problems as the author of this topic. I don't understand decorators and some other things. Moreover, C syntax is close to me. Yes, C# syntax is simpler for me than Python. On the choice of language for games, Ethin wrote above that I didn't make my choice. No, I made my choice for games, this is C#.In any case, I continue to learn Python, because I need it for work.
