Re: Monthly Chat - August, 2020
Re: Monthly Chat - August, 2020 How could someone start this topic before I did! That is just plane not fair! In retaliation I refuse to post in this topic! No I shal not reply, nor discuss matters nor be very sarcastic! not in this topic that should by rights have been mine and isn't . I'm afraid I don't have much to report either, working out (well with the help of zombies run), watching game of thrones, reading Stephen King with my lady and trying to get my own fiction written. We have actually ordered some masks so we will be able to at least walk out soon enough, though shopping is probably still out. Actually things have been a bit difficult, with my lady worry about whether the scan results actually mean she's clear of cancer, and my efforts to find a fiction agent not really succeeding, the fact that this supposedly quiet town all of a sudden seems full of rowdy drunks doesn't help too much either. Still, hopefully something will come up soon. Gaming wise though things have picked up a bit. Before my lady started radio therapy back in January, I started playing shadowrine. I got as far as firma lake dungeon, but then had to stop for a very extended period, so I've started again from the beginning, and the game is proving pretty awesome, it's also got me back into gaming which is nice. Re: cheat values in manamon 2 You can just trade over a level up herb and duplicate it from there.Granted, this would turn the game into a spam enter simulator, leaving the only challenge navigating the mazes and puzzles. I'd, get horrifically bored as well when the other challenges of the game go down to one hit and just become another boring encounter. As someone said, once you get past the gimmick of the fight, the battles aren't that bad.buh, we honestly need an alternative mode that levelocks all manamon based on keys gotten, and not just traded ones. That and a difficulty spike with boss and tamer battles in this mode. I've been watching my brothers play through Pokemon Rejuvenation with the latest releases and the intense difficulty boss fights look painful, but fun. They employ the levelock system with badges to prevent people from just solving all problems by overleveling, and leaving them better prepared for battles later in the game that can't be out leveled (and that's both for normal and intense diffficulty). Hell, a few fights early on have you fighting a single high leveled opponent with your team, and its still possible to win the battles with a bit of planning. heck, the latest update has one battle where you can get a bit of a level advantage over the trainer and get like a 3-4 level gap between her highest and your team. She's still considered the hardest battle required to win because of her field setup and her team checking and countering a lot of her ice type's weaknesses and using weather to outspeed and knock out your team. Also weather/environment is not friendly to fire and rock types, and those options are out unless you can maintain control of those. For steel types, mamoswine says hello. Many carry elemental seeds which gives them benefits from terrain as well, why the level lead matters little if you try to brute force the fight and how a mamoswine outspeeds a lot of your team when its sent out.but meh, manamon isn't at a point where the battle system, moves and abilities can support far more complicated setups. manamon 2 brought in weather effects, but in their basic states 9so just like Gen II). We're not even sure if they have effects just like the main games yet. This means we're no where close to other such concepts, like terrain bonuses and interactions with that stuff using certain moves. As well, TM's and the like don't exist to modify movesets to help makeup for shortfalls to have a far more difficult game setup that won't be impossible to complete. Re: New Yu-Gi-Oh game being created
Re: New Yu-Gi-Oh game being created It isn't impossible, but the video games you're talking about are games from Konami, the creators of the card game. They have dozens of developers sitting there and thinking about an AI and get paid quite alot for doing so. The MUD got two main devs who do have their own jobs and are doing some things in their free time to the MUD, there is deffinitely no room to invent a YGO AI from scratch. There are other bots out there who tried something similar, like windbot, but those cannot be connected easily to the MUD, plus they only know how to play with specific decks. The Konami AI is one of the most intelligent card game AIs I've ever seen to date, you can throw any deck at it and the most recent AI can do moves with it most human YGO players wouldn't be able to do. Developing something like this would require multiple close-to-full-time-developers who are specifically skilled with AI development, and neither the YGO open source community, nor the MUD have such capable people sitting around and doing that for free right now. And you cannot pay people if you don't have the money to do so .Best Regards.Hijacker URL: https://forum.audiogames.net/post/557232/#p557232 -- Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end? The electoral college and its power is the reason I flat out refuse to vote. people give me shit about it sometimes, but I'm not going to check a box when it doesn't matter what my opinion is.Re: worrying about a significant other becoming infected and/or hospitalized, been there, done that, and it actually happened. I have alluded to this quite a few times, and the aftermath is still really raw for me. Not in terms of my partner's recovery, which, thankfully, was relatively good, all things considered, but in terms of the fact that I worry that he could potentially get it again. While it's possible that your immune system would at least be a bit more equipped to deal with a second infection, it's also possible that it would leave you more vulnerable, since we don't entirely know what the long-term effects are. So, yeah, that shit keeps me up at night too. And having the potential to lose someone you love, not just in the abstract, but as an immediate threat, that doesn't leave you when the threat passes. Maybe it would if I were a stronger person, but I simply am not. I blame myself for the fact that it happened. I was a fucking idiot, and didn't take the virus seriously when the lockdowns were starting to occur. I'm not a super religious person, but I was definitely raised to emphasize all the hellfire and brimstone bits of Christianity over all else, so I tend to believe that God is quick to punish, much like a domineering parent. I wouldn't know anything about that, either, but I digress. Anyway, I truly believe that I was given a wake up call, and that's my cross to bear. At least the whole thing about God not giving one more than they can handle in their life must be true, because I wouldn't fucking be here if anything worse had happened. Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision?
Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision? @Camlorn I saw this thread when it just started including your first post, and was skeptical about what you said thinking that there are probably not enough people wanting to remain blind that there are likely to be any here. Apparently I was very wrong.I'm very curious about this, because I find it hard to imagine. Even if curing my blindness came with some side effects I would probably still go for it if they weren't too extreme. Even if I only got a bit of vision back, anything is better than nothing. Obviously everyone should have a choice what they do with their bodies and it shouldn't be forced on anyone. And I'm not saying anyone who chooses to keep their disability is stupid or anything, I don't know what it's like to be them so can't really say how I would react if I had been in that situation. I'm just saying that personally I find it very hard to understand, it's just something I can't quite wrap my mind around. Deaf people forming their own cultures due to sign languages being actual separate languages is an interesting case. I wonder though how many people, if they had their disability taken away with the option to revert after trying it out would actually still choose to go back. And I definitely agree that it's not a choice parents should be allowed to force on their children. I once heard of a case of two deaf parents who had a child, where the condition was treatable but only very early in life, and if left would result in permanent deafness. The parents didn't want the child to be treated because they wanted to raise them as a deaf person. I feel like this is unfair, you're making a choice about the child that will impact them for the rest of their lives. You can still even teach them your sign language, it's not like being able to hear would render you unable to use it. I don't know, maybe there's something I'm missing here, but I do feel like this should not be legal. I'm sure more people would agree if it comes to for example parents forcing a strict diet on a child which causes malnutrition, or not allowing the child to be vaccinated because of whatever silly ideas they have about it. And this is arguably even worse. Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision?
Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision? @81 - I'd be interested in reading but i dont see a link. Can you provide a link?@83 Alright you know what, blind people aren't the only disabled people in the world and this attitude pisses me off. You are one person. Sorry if its controversial and ticks a few heads here but it's true. Seriously, how about you google ableism sometime.First off, you're really showing your ignorance of deaf communities. The whole reason why this group even exists is because deafness causes an isolation in communication that results in the creation of their own languages. This has been recorded in real time and is so significant that it has contributed significantly to linguistics and understanding of language synthesis. Curing every deaf person leads to the loss of those languages. I am not going to argue with you why that's a bad thing. Like blind people they are obviously not homogeneous on this issue because of a wide range of experiences - but here's the thing: just assuming that people who are afraid of change are stupid because they can't see the whole world like a sighted person means you are stepping into other people's lives. It's actually you who is homogenizing the deaf by saying this vocal minority has no valid reason to complain - THEY DO.You're allowed to have your own perspective on how to treat your own body but you're literally telling other people how they should live (and don't tell me you're not - you're literally diagnosing them as having a "coping problem" when they express their opinion). That's the problem. It has nothing to do with identity, disability identity is actually really stupid and alienating - it has to do with someone saying, oh this is what you should do with your body. And seriously, talk to people born with glaucoma. I'm not saying that parents who treat their kids are abusers obviously, but I've talked to several and they all had severe PTSD from their surgeries. One of my closest friends went through over 50 invasive surgeries across 30 years. Just looking at people who are just born totally blind in comparison and you can see the psychological impact. Even if this is how you lost your vision I know from personal experience there are other people who have very different feelings. Reducing it into a system of cures is not facing the actual problem that disabled people face.Let's not get into how cures are just a commodity anyways and don't really exist, and how this approach completely neglects people who go blind because of trauma or late-life health (aka, a lot of them). A lot of blind people are even familiar with this problem because their condition is caused by a complex change in their eyes or nerves. Basically the problem is caused by an organ in your body changing its function which impacts your ability to see, possibly removing it altogether. Because of the complexity of this function, how you adapted to the change of it ect. impacts your development, you can't simply just "fix" it in many cases, especially in people born blind. Research visual development in the brain - after a while your body is unable to adapt to vision because the brain has already developed past a critical period. So many blind people wouldn't even gain vision like other blind people who had vision before would. Now this is not to say that treatments and alternatives shouldn't be investigated or looked into, in fact the more options the better (in fact, imagine the possibilities for people who transitioned to sightedness and how they experience the world differently), but when we talk about how "offended we are" and how "wrong" it is for people to feel uncomfortable with the idea of becoming sighted, and reduce their opinion down to a strawman about "identity", you're the one who's introducing what a blind person should be (someone who desires to see again). The "blind identity" doesn't exist; what exists is our experiences and our comfort zones, and its perfectly valid for some people to want to have a different opinion. You say yourself that you were able to see somewhat and this explains your motivation very clearly for wanting to gain vision again, but you write off other blind people as having a "coping mechanism" when you only encompass one kind of possible blind experience. You certainly couldn't have known what it was like to be born totally blind, and I notice many people who are born totally blind tend to have a bit more of a problem with the idea of gaining vision again.Sorry for getting angry about this but I really wish people would actually talk to other disabled people on this subject instead of assuming their own experience represents everyone, and then get offended at other people because they're expressing their own opinions. This is a very complicated subject that can't be just referenced from your own point of view. If this offends you you should seriously talk to more people, especially those with other disabilities, because this

Now this is not to say that cures shouldn't be investigated or looked into, in fact the more options the better, but when we talk about how "offended we are" and how "wrong" it is for people to feel uncomfortable with the idea of becoming sighted, and reduce their opinion down to a strawman about "identity", you're the one who's introducing what a blind person should be (someone who desires to see again). If this offends you you should seriously talk to more people, especially those with other disabilities, because this "identity" crap isn't coming from them.@ 86 - But here's the thing - the whole reason why you're missing out on the world in the first place is because its a sighted world. Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision?
Re: Your choice? Would you restore your vision? I agree with Canlorn almost all the way down to the ground. Being blind from birth means that no, I'll never be fully aware of just how big that gulf is. But because I've done research, talked to sighted folks, and have a logical brain that is still sharp, I know it's there and I have a vague idea that it's huge. That's what makes me say that it would have to be good vision, and I'd have to be supported while my brain worked around the neuroplasticity issue. Provide those things, and I'm all over it. If you can't, though, I want no part of it.I can admit that I have fewer capabilities than sighted me would have. The only argument I will make, however, is that someone who is blind from birth (and has the appropriate nurturing environment and temperament, of course) does tend to have a chance to not judge things as aesthetically as sighted society encourages folks to do. I won't go off and say that my blindness made me who I am, and I definitely don't think it's keeping me who I am. If I regain my sight, I'll still be me, albeit with a hopefully expanding skillset. That said, I was never able to judge things in t way that society was expecting me to, and I believe that may in some way have contributed to me turning out the way I am now. I don't know how it is for other blind-from-birth folks, but it definitely lends the potential for perspective that might not otherwise be as easily reachable. This is not to say, by the way, that sighted folks are shallow; some are, of course, but that's not a defining trait. Instead, it's just a difference in how I process information, which in turn may influence how I think about, remember and then use that information both on a rational and an emotional level. But again, that won't go away if I gain the ability to see; it's well-entrenched now, in fact. Re: Moderator Application: Summer, 2020 I want to apply. I would like to help with this sight because I have been here for almost six years, and this site has helped me a lot. I believe I could give something valuable back to the community. I have had prior experience with forum administration. I have a small forum of my own, which I keep a close eye on. I also like to help others as much as I can. I try to be fair and solve problems in the best way possible. I believe in fair treatment for everyone, regardless of whether or not I agree with everything a particular person says. As for challenges, I'm aware that I've done some really dumb things in the past. I'm aware that these things have made it harder for people to trust me, but I am working to change that. I won't go into specifics out of respect for other users here. I've also had some personal issues with other users in the past, but I believe I could put those aside. I believe I could devote some time every day. I log in here several times each day, so time really won't be a problem for me. A rough estimate would be around thirty-five hours per week at the minimum. I use Discord on a daily basis. I have a server of my own, and I haven't broken it yet. As for the fictional situation, Jill's behavior merits a caution and John should be given a warning for personal attacks. Juan should be given a caution. He hasn't completely broken any rules, but his level of frustration did get a bit out of hand. Jill didn't directly attack John, which is why her punishment is less severe. Re: Where to buy a Windows 10 PRO license cheaper? If you are talking about mine, I used it a few weeks ago. I wanted BitLocker and windows sandbox and whatnot. It is working good so far. I think Microsoft wants to extend the life of Windows 10 for a long time, so I'll probably be able to use the key for years. Re: Onslaught, audio Asteroids, early Linux/Windows beta @13Not to keep derailing the thread, but how good are your surround sound emulators? At the moment I'm considering whether to try for that, or to figure out if I can get a system, put everything on stands, and shove it in the corner when I'm not testing Synthizer. Re: Some Chinese software I am throwing outa here so you can test It is not about "bitness" of your system. Win32 is an system architecture. Re: Onslaught, audio Asteroids, early Linux/Windows beta
Re: Onslaught, audio Asteroids, early Linux/Windows beta i signed up as well. I have a windows 10 PC and an Xbox 1. For surround sound, I have a Corsair Void Pro. With that on surround sound, I also have two programs. One of which applies a driver and another of which provides presets, so I can have virtualized 7.1 in many different configurations.
