Regarding past gifts, the value of them is that they are temporary. Paying for them would maintain that special factor, but I question whether they're worth it and how people as a whole would react to paying for something like that. VGStorm will never go freemium!

@422, not a bad request at all, though I am a little hesitant. Some people do actually use the wrong item by accident, and I feel it does help explain what happened if that does happen. But I take your point. Maybe a togglable option, defaulting to telling you the item, could be implemented. The only other question I wonder is if the relatively small amount of time saved is worth the effort to implement (it isn't that hard), and also worth the clutter in the options menu? Just wondering, would appreciate your thoughts.

Hey! I've patched the ability bug, and you should absolutely update as soon as you see this. I've tried to not break anything while doing it, but this was a hot fix so only got tested a bit. Unless you get an error on loading your save file, and the abilities are back to one per creature, we're good. If you do get an error, make sure to let me know.

You can also use home and end.I will look at allowing the Manamon voices to be heard in the Manapedia, the intro one at any rate.There is no map at this time.You can only place fliers as placemarkers, so that wouldn't really work. Spoilers!Read at your own risk.@Jayde, actually most RPGS will have a final boss which, if not breaks the mechanics, adds new ones.Or if not that, they have moves which can never be used anywhere else, which I'd think is very similar.Think about a robot boss, for example, where you have to target its different parts in order to kill it. Maybe if you don't kill its chest, its arms will grow back and whatnot.Its not at all unusual for boss battles to do this sort of thing.You could definitely do Irroadium with a level 75 and 5 level 55s, absolutely! But the point I guess Stirlock was trying to make was that you'd have trouble getting a team with all level 50s and a level 75 given the limited number of tamer battles.

@JaydeSpoilers for almost everybody,turn back now!Actually Jayde, I do consider Irroadium kind of a final boss.Its, as I like to think of it, the boss of the Final Fantasy enspired side, where as it will still be a while until the boss that sticks completely to the game mechanics.Irroadium does not scale, at all! This is why I do have those fights early on, so that you understand how important balancing is.Balancing isn't important because this boss scales, its because this is the final boss, and final bosses are very difficult.Rena's fight and the three junior administrators are the only scaling fights.As to the other factors, about move counts being higher and Manamon tamers having more creatures, this doesn't happen often. Octoross is the only tamer with more than 6. Think about it, why would he not be able to? He's a vilain! He isn't necessarily bound to the same rules as a tamer playing by the rules.As for Irroadium, he's a God. He's a monster that, in this form, can only be battled as the final boss, he's going to be difficult.This is why it can be dangerous to think its only enspiration is Pokemon.Because things like tri-types would, if nothing else, come as a shock.You are probably going to level, I'd say your team should consist of level 55s. And you will be using lots of healing items, that's part of the fight.I hope this helped!Best,Aaron

Jayde,Well, yes, but your team is exactly what this fight is supposed to detect.You don't even have 3 Manamon over level 30.In my humble opinion, the game should be a bit rough on that, considering I'd say the average level at this point is between 32 and 35.Making the levels static would still allow, say, a level 40 Leafox full transformation to beat the flame guy, which is about what you'd have if you were going for more of a solo run than you have.I mean, there is one thing I could potentially change which would likely let you win. Hello Jayde,No no, that's not what I mean.The final boss doesn't scale. But it doesn't matter. The way its setup, it would be almost impossible to solo run it. I don't want people getting all the way there and then being stuck for a lot longer than you will be.I'm not necessarily opposed to changing this hideout boss, but I do think it will do a lot more harm than it will do good, and I'd have to see some really good arguments to change my opinion.That's based off of my own experience and off of the experience of my beta team, watching them play through and whatnot.Regarding the AI, it will way those decisions often, and people like stadium leaders are much more unlikely to make stupid errors like that. It will occasionally happen, but for the most part you'll only see that behavior commonly in normal bog standard tamers.Oh, and yes, you do get boosts from Manamon with corresponding types to attack types. 
 I think that's in the manual, but I could be wrong.Skirial is tri-typed, btw.

Hello,I don't much care for level scaling based on highest as a method of difficulty inflation.What I don't want is for people to reach the final boss, being able to broot force everything prior, and being like, "holy crap, why can't I do this?"Its better to lose 12 hours than 30.Though I do think if you just don't use Bulpine for a while, you can still do this in shorter time than you would by far with a restart.Best,Aaron

Hello,Balancing your team is important. Very important.I've always hated it when it is incredibly easy to pull a solo run, which it is in plenty of games.The team you have, Jayde, is a bit unbalanced unfortunately.It has less to do with the moves, and more to do with the fact you don't have coverage.Owlex is not defensive. Its not really got a defensive moveset. And your starter obviously isn't going to do good. All of your other creatures are vastly underleveled.I tried to make lots of NPCs who warn you early on about balancing.It will take some time, but you can definitely still do this.I don't think its too fierce, either, based off of a lot of testing.I don't think you necessarily need a type advantage, but it would be nice. You've not really got flame coverage at all.This is going to prove difficult, I'd imagine, for most players. But I think its important to balance a team, and tha

Hi there.Well Bamboo, most of the things you mention are standard RPG practice.The stat set is generally the same in all games. Some games add intellect, luck, etc., but these basic ones are usually there.Healing in a building when you reach a new town is also common. Digimon's equivalent even has a PC!Digimon digivolve, which is just evolve with a few changed letters.Manamon are found in much more than just grass, so this isn't comparible.We also have lots of types that Pokemon nor digimon for that matter have.Sure, some of the type advantages are the same, but water beats flame in most games, for example.Digimon Dawn / Dusk also cap at 6 monsters.Yes, its similar, it was enspired by Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, the list goes on.You will find more comparisons, for sure, but a large number of them will also be found in other RPGs, or at least in other Pokemon / digimon types.Best regards,Aaron

Hello,On an experimental basis, I have now added Screen reader support.It causes just the sort of problems I expected, but I decided I would let you as the player decide if its worth the extra enter key pressses and potential loss of information.If your OK with this, I hope you enjoy the new feature! Hello Jayde,Well the reason I've been vague is because its a fundamental underlying issue.But I'll try and explain some of the problems now.1: You cannot check to see if the voice is speaking.This means you lose many synamatics. You can't fix this merely by adding a delay, even a configurable delay. Take theses to sentences.Hello, My name is bob.We'll rendezvous at the metropolitan city next to the large fountain.As you can see, these sentences take vastly different amounts of time. Fare enough, lets use a multiplier.Well, that still doesn't work, because of silent letters and other grammatical factors.There are many reasons why a delay is not plausible.So the only option left is forcing you to press enter to continue every single time there's blocking speech.This is what Paladin does.It was OK in Paladin because the main time this changed things was when you were being attacked 
 by an enemy.Enemies in Paladin usually do about the same damage each time, so skipping that wasn't a big deal.Here, though, it would be all to easy to just guess how much damage a move is going to do, and then skip the message when it actually did, say, 3 times the damage.The argument for this that I've heard is, "well that's there problem", but as a developer, it is my job to insure that things like that don't happen.I have to make sure that the player being foolish doesn't cause problems with presentation, only with difficulty of the actual game mechanics.That's why I let you skip some things, and not others.Some players aren't going to be as good at the game as others, and this could easily add to the learning curve as I've mentioned above. People are already missing things even with SAPI, just imagine how much worse it would be if there skipping text everywhere.More importantly, they may 
 not even skip it intensionally, bringing me to my next point.2: Pressing any key is enough to stop any screen reader I'm aware of from speaking.In cases where your not able to repeat this, you can easily miss what the speech had to say, just because you accidentally pressed tab, q, control, whatever it may be.Granted Manamon is not an action game, but in an action game context, this especially can cause problems. In several games I've played, I've missed what the speech was saying because I pressed up to jump. No way, at that point, could I find out what the speech had been saying.Though this is not as prominant of an issue in Manamon, I do believe it exists.We do, later on, have a count down sequence which would be broken as well, though granted this isn't a huge problem.I cannot speak for all screen readers, but I'd imagine even external factors like tweats or windows balloon notifications would also cause problems here,
  because the screen reader might interrupt.Granted, I think NVDA handles that well, but I'm not an NVDA user.3: ConclusionThere are many SAPI5 voices, many free and many paid.Just because Anna and similar voices aren't the greatest by no means mean they're the only SAPI5 options.SAPI5 is really just an interface to another program. We all know there are some good programs which are optimized and fast, and bad programs which are sluggish. The same is true for SAPI5 voices.I know it seems to many that I'm close minded on this issue, but I'm really not. I considered screen reader support long before release, weighing each pro and con, and am listening to all of these posts regarding it intently.To make games that try to be equal with their video game counterparts, it takes control. Hello 3blacknoises,the reported issue will be resolved in the next update.And to everyone else,BGT does support screen readers.The main issue with screen readers is the inability to check whether or not it is speaking, which is actually very important.Imagine, for example, not being able to check when a sound finishes playing? No game would be playable if that were the case. Thankfully screen readers aren't quite that bad, but it does make the game feel unpolished for sure. I cannot simply rely on the fact that most people will have their speech rate quick enough.I have to take the 5 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent into consideration who have their screen readers at slow rates, so unfortunately that doesn't really work.I did think long and hard about the screen reader issue, believe me.Best regards,Aaron

Hello all,The difficulty of adding screen reader support is minimal. I can largely recycle the implementation from Paladin of the Sky.But after adding it to Paladin, I really felt it detracted from the experience significantly.Screen readers are not designed for gaming. As a programmer, I need to have as much control over the user's experience as possible, and unfortunately screen readers do not offer the abilities required.Everyone likes Screen Reader support because they can get good voices, but there are just some issues with it, especially on bigger games.I've seen many games which only support screen readers which I personally find unplayable.I also remember somewhere in this thread, someone said the Jaws Keyhook wouldn't be an issue since Manamon doesn't have timed attacks like Paladin.Actually, the keyhook causes more problems than just a slight delay. Sometimes I will hold down a key, then release it, and the ga
 me lags so much that it will continue walking a few steps before stopping.That in itself wouldn't be enough to stop me from adding screen reader support, because that's an issue only in JAWs.The other issues, namely having no control, are present in all screen readers.All the best,Aaron

Hello Jayde,I'd obviously have to know the exact circumstances surrounding what aspect of the battle system you say doesn't work the way I said.I've never seen it act differently and I've played it a lot.There's probably a logical explanation.I have paid a lot of attention to balancing, and none of the Manamon who know Aerial Vision learn incredibly inaccurate moves.Well, I can think of one, but it doesn't have a lot of use cases.Granted Soul Split is really nice, but Pandourbit is a little difficult to use sometimes, especially early on.But he does have decent stats."Is there anywhere in game that tells you exactly how status effects work? Hi,Manamon is enspired by Pokemon, Digimon, YuGiO, all of those types of games.I realize that many people won't be interested in such a game, that's why I give a large demo.You can play it for a very long time to decide whether or not its right for you.@jayde, the multiple attacks have to do with rounds.So, what happens is if you switch out one character, who is faster than your opponent, to one who is slower than your opponent, they will get two attacks.This will only happen when your KOed if you dyed from something like scorch or poison.Hope I helped.Best regards,Aaron Baker

ammericandad2005,Yes, it was.Jade,keep in mind Key was playing on normal mode, too.Also, of course there is randomness to it. But you don't randomly miss an enemy just because I say so in the game, you miss because the enemy moved too close, too far away, or you are on the ground and they are in the air.That was all I was saying.And also, in theory, you don't actually have to trade melay blows. As with any game, audio or video, you will end up doing that. But theoretically you can significantly lower how much damage you take through skill.Also, the game keeps introducing the new enemies as you saw, so it actually doesn't end up quite as repetetive as you seem to suspect, certainly a lot less repetetive than a lot of games.Sure, you mostly slice jump back slice jump back slice to kill enemies, but not all enemies.You often have to manufacture your strategies for individual enemies or even when they appear in clust

Lucas, the knife indeed does not have a minimum range. If I miss with the knife, I usually find it is because the enemy is attacking me from my left and I am facing right. This is especially noticeable with the goblins who come at you from the right, but sometimes end up going to your other side to attack.The behavior you described with the sword, damage dependent on distance, does actually happen with the bow, which I think makes more sense.Lastly, you don't technically have to jump to hit the harpies, because they do often fly down to attack you.whocrazy,No progress yet on the XP issue. This is especially troublesome with the bow.Think your a victem of minimum range here as well, because the closest enemy in range is always the first one hit. Take gray lady, for inst
 ance. When you are using your bow and you are trying to hit the much closer ghost but you instead hit the Gray Lady. This would be because the ghost is too close for you to shoot with your bow, so your arrow hits the Gray Lady instead. Another time would be in the areas where you have a large quantity of zombies chasing you.

Aaron, the one talking about infinite mode.Actually, infinite mode should remain unlocked even if you restart your primary save file. It is in the main menu, directly below load game.But you won't have unlocked it if you beat it on easy mode.It is a normal mode only feature.Best,Aaron

Hello,the later levels in hard, very hard, and nightmare are to my liking, but earlier levels on all three are slightly problematic.Well, not so much hard actually, but very hard and nightmare for sure.I will have some small tweaks in the next version, including starting with the sword on very hard and nightmare.I will also make small tweaks to the second, and possibly the third, boss on very hard and nightmare.Hard will probably stay the same, to be honest.I don't really see too much of a problem with hard just right now, since you don't technically have to knife the ghosts, and if you do, you can always jump back a bit.It's called hard for a reason, it is probably going to take you several several more times on the bosses than you are used to on other difficulties.Regards,Aaron

Hello,The Gate version 1.0.1 is released!It fixes some minor bugs and makes some easy mode tweaks to make the bosses, gray Lady among them, a little less vicious, though it doesn't change the fact  you really have to try in order to win.I've also extended the demo mode to include level 4, as it does show case a few more enemies with inivations other enemies do not have.Though, keep in mind there are still many more enemies to discover in the full version!If you have downloaded the game before October 18 2015, you should redownload and reinstall.Best Regards,Aaron
