Here are a couple of thoughts.One: There needs, needs, needs to be a key to mute chats. I won't explain why just yet, because a future thing will describe it and ties into this.Two: As many have said, lag needs to be fixed. But I'm no internet expert, so there's nothing I can do about that.Three: Admins. Admins need to be instated. Because some people were actively breaking rules while I was on the server, namely spamming, and no one was around to do a thing about it. That, though, ties into why a mute key is needed.This game isn't for me. It holds the same tropes as all the other games in this genre, along with many of the same concepts and systems. It's just another rehash of a game that's been done too many times.Good luck.

Jayde, I hardly think it constructive to simply tell people to "Go search it" when they ask a question. It's akin to someone asking a question that you have the answer to, but out of sheer stubbornness, you say, "Just google it." I thank you for your pointing finger in this instance, but I find it to be just a touch annoying and, frankly, rude. Especially on a forum with so many posts that may or may not be at all related because the search feature will pick out things from totally unrelated topics in some cases. The search feature is hardly dependable.

Hello,The sounds thing is trivial. Sounds will be reused in games, guys. That's a simple point of fact. Swamp and STW share sounds, let's not forget that. Sound libraries are floating around, yes, but hey. There are only so many.Anyways, onto my thoughts on the game.I do like runners. I really, really do. I don't know why, I just find the concept fun and energizing. This game has none of that. You start out insanely slowly, for one, which isn't a problem, because, and I may be wrong even from playing just the first two minutes, but you won't get hit by anything. The only real danger I found in this game were boulders, and those are because they come out of nowhere. Like sometimes they play no sounds. Bombs are never anywhere near hitting me, I'm usually out of range of them before they even hit the ground. I haven't seen all the concepts of course, but this game just doesn't give you enough time to see all of the concepts.Personally, I think this is a miss. Improvements can be made though, so this isn't me condemning it completely. It definitely needs work, though.

I'd forgotten this game was a mail game. To me it just feels like a mix between Ahh Damn It and Oh Shit. There's really nothing I can see to do, and the "Figure it out yourself" approach would be fine, if this game didn't have so many variables. Like Trolls, what do you do with those? If you see one, are you just screwed? Ghosts teleport you, and that's bad why? Why is there a fountain in the corner of the arrow place? There are so many variables it's like "Hey. Here's my game. Wanna know how to survive? Nah... nah... you'll be fine."I'm sure that you as a person have the patience to do the whole figuring it out thing but I can say that maybe don't make the whole thing guess and die, especially because this is, to my knowledge, your first game.

Here's my one little issue with the game: It takes too long to start. The first 100 squares are blankets of nothingness. I feel that is entirely too long. Maybe the first 25 squares, 40 to 50 max.

Christian, once the server is back up, an admin can send you your password. There's a command for that.Yes, the server went down, and I'm not sure if it's my fault. I committed suicide on a map and then was thrown into some sort of death loop. It glitched out hardcore. Not sure if this is my fault or if the game just said nope. The fact of the matter is, the game is indeed down. Apologies if it was my fault.

So the one thing I will give this game credit for. It says what it is and doesn't try to be anything else. Yes, it basically is just Oh Shit with top down movement. It's not 3D, that's just the term we've taken to using when something isn't side scrolling. Games like Redspot and STW are truly 3D.That said, that is also it's greatest con. It is just Oh Shit top-down. Which isn't a bad thing. Unfortunately though, I prefer Oh Shit to this, simply because it came first and was a fresh concept. That's nothing against you, Mason, but that's all this is, and, unfortunately, it's just not keeping me hooked.It's a nice little time waster. Don't get me wrong, but I think of the new games I've played today, since I haven't had my computer for a couple months, it's been a lot, it's probably my least favorite, however I do enjoy your Endless runner game quite a bit. Just getting a bit annoyed at my random deaths.All in all, it's a good effort, and you took the step to release it to the public. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing groundbreaking, but then again it's not trying to be. The game is honest, and I like that. Good on you.

Is it possible to make it so you don't only get to use one ability per fight? It doesn't really make logical sense, and most of the time the attacks do less damage than a shruikan throw does. So they kind of become redundant.

I have a couple questions.One: Why doesn’t the SAPI setting menu actually do anything? It seems as though you can set the pitch and rate but it only actually takes effect in the speech menu itself. For example, I have mine set to Espeak, rate 6, but the menus are spoken with Microsoft David at Rate 0.Two: Is there a way to repeat prompts? Thanks.

To answer your question Bryan, if you remember, Joseph did say they used placeholder voices in some cases. Given that they didn't interact with Samuel in the radar demo, we don't know if that's what it was, but I'll guess so.

Compared to the rest of you, my story is rather generic.I am an author. I love to take inspiration from things. Most of that being books. But also, videogames. And unfortunately, the range of videogames I can play is rather limited. So, that gets me down sometimes and makes me sad about my blindness. So A Hero's Call stirs something in me; it makes me happy to be blind, to get this game first and foremost. I love what these people are doing and I know it will be my lifesaver, in terms of sheer and utter boredom.

Not at present, no. But it's not processor issues, it's how much it distorts my sound. For example in Scrolling Battles, Your World, when you have the special reverb stuff turned on, it really really distorts things.

Hey again, Joseph. Good to see you're doing well. I sent this question to the Out Of Sight Games Twitter account, but wanted to quickly ask again here just in case it was not received. So, for your sound design, you don't use any sort of 3 D audio do you? I ask simply because my computer usually doesn't handle such things well, for example, the high reverb effects by LibAudio I believe it's called. I'm only asking because I fully intend to preorder the game and just want to know if this is an issue I can expect or if I should be okay.

One thing I'm really curious about in the game is how the music is moved around in the game. Because I'm going to imagine the character themes won't just be played throughout a whole cutscene, the same with songs like Into The Fray. We'll see!

I understand both sides of this most recent debate. At this point, I think our best bet is to do one of two things, or even both:1. Count down in our heads, as I am doing.2. Simply ignore the posts about it.I think that this would be very moralizing to see as a developer, though, since it says, "We are excited about your game! We cannot wait!"In the end, the choice is up to you, but I say, let people show their excitement. It's probably a huge morale booster for the company bringing us this game.

What you guys are forgetting is that even with how much the Out Of Sight Games team received from the Kickstarter, voice acting is not cheap. Can you imagine how much it would cost to have the same dialogue recorded twice in both male and female voices and how much extra coding time that would take? I'm personally okay with SAPI voicing the main character. In days past, RPG's had no voice acting to speak of, as is demonstrated with games like Paladin of the Sky, Manamon, etc. The old Zelda and Final Fantasy games were like this as well. I think they still are.

So, this may be slightly off topic, but I'd like to point this out: Everyone who is having trouble figuring out the radar, I have a recommendation. I have been studying the video over, and over, and over again, and have discovered that, if you listen to the context, you can get a good idea of what does what. Of course it's rudimentary at best compared to being able to learn it in the game, but what was initially terrifyingly daunting is now seeming far more doable.

As strange, puzzling, odd, unurthadox, abnormal, and any other word for things of the strange variety as this may seem, I've actually found myself dreaming of the game. More accurately, playing it. My sleep fogged brain woke me at four thirty this morning, and I thought maybe I could go get some of the game done before school. And then I remembered that the game is not out yet. Oh, gods. While this game is fun for a while, it gets rather boring after a while. It is still an interesting concept, though. But what I think it lacks primarily are items. For example, all you're doing right now is stepping left or right. But think about it: Items for temporary invincibility, a cane item that will vault you over a particularly tough section or another cane that batters objects aside, because face it, who doesn't use their cane for a bit of abuse from time to time? I think other obstacles could be nice too, such as maybe scooters and other toys left on the sidewalk by kids that will trip you, so it'll make you walk for ward for about ten steps without being able to turn which could make it far, far more challenging.

While this game shows promise, I believe most of that promise is held by the fluent Chinese speakers. I attempted the game, and spent about 45 minutes running around, killing hens and feeling generally lost. I like the idea, but again... it was lackluster at best for me.
