Hi guys! Sorry for reviving this topic but I would like to give you my little experience in this. So, iesterday I've received my Stadia controller and the chromecast ultra in a bundle. In my personal experience, I like the controller very much as well as the playability in the pc and with stadia on a TV. The first configuration of the controller is very accessible; I've done using the Stadia app in an android phone and there are simpe steps for doing all the configs. It asks you if there are some clights that blink or stay on or off but you can simply sole this problem in that the app tells if the controller is connected or not. each screen or pc you use for playing in Stadia has its own code for connecting the controller via wi-fi. I've had no issues linking it with my pc because the code is a 4 button push on the controller and on Stadia, the pattern is written so we can do without any problem also because you'll know if the code you type is correct or not via different series of vibrations . I could also use the controller for playing TopSpeed 3 by connecting it via USB with the computer. There is also a jack for connecting the hearphones directly in the controller, there is the possiblity of streaming directly on Youtube and other things you can do in the pc version of stadia. there are also audio cues for letting you know if there are issues with the controller. So guys, This is only my oun personal experience with this thing; I'm not a super gamer searching ofor the best gaming experience in the world; I'm just happy to play some games I like and, for now, Stadia gave me this opportunity. Ihave to play with the platform a bit more. Now playing MK11.  For me it's a great thing because I haven't money for buying a new consol; Stadia is giving me the opportunity to play with games I'ld never buy for the price or because my pc isn't so powerfoul. I'm liking it but I understand others can have different opinions or experiences with Stadia and its remote. Hope to be of some informative and sorry for my bad English.

I've tyred installing the lubuntu desktop but I simply don't like it; Orca sdoesn't like it; I would like trying the xubuntu desktop; but for Knoppix or Adriane... I flashed the iso image and when done i have many folders in the usb root like Knoppics, Efi Boot and other files; I've then tryed to modify the files such that it should start Adriane and not the regular knoppics, as stated in the instructions. Inside  the efi folder there is only the boot folderand the knoppics folder is in the main root as the efi folder. !The same exact things happens when trying to install the adriane version that I just downloaded from the site. There is no 64 bit version but only the 32 bit version.What can I do? Have I to put folders and files into other folders? Thanks again

Knoppics: how to install or boot

Hi guys! I'm trying to install Knoppics using adrinae. I don't know how to boot the usb drive in that there are many folders; one for boot, one for efi and then there are knoppics folders in the main root of the usb drive. When I boot from the usb drive, it simply doesn't start and the Ubuntu mate starts instead. Could you help me? Hi! Also this version doesn't start for me! It doesn't do anything wheen booting; there is no arpeggio, nothing at all. Don't know why. Now I-m reinstalling the ubuntu mate because it-s the only distro I can use and that boots without problems< I was thinking of trying Lubuntu but I don-t know how to enable Orca during the live cd or the installation< I-m running the same usb drive that works perfectly with ubuntu mate. Any suggestions_

When I burn the iso, then check if there are file on the usb, the computer shoes me the 3 gb of free space while I know the usb is a 16 gb one; it doesn't show the file I just burned or flashed; there isn't an other partition in the usb drive; just these 3 free gbs. However I can boot the new jenux I've just flashed. When I insert the drive in a usb, the pc asks me to format the disk and shoes me that the entire drive is of 3 gbs. And it happens only with the jenux isos I try to flash, or burn, as you want to say. ahaha!

I have flashed the new jenux iso to my usb drive and guess what? Thedrive remains with 3 gb of the 16 it has normally; the other partition is totally gone; don't know why but with all the jenux isos if tryed this strange thing happens each time. So, what other distros to try with a 2 gb ram laptop?

Hi Firefly! I don't have much experience using Audacity; there is also Reaper that is not free but the demo lasts for ever and you have all the functions you need. The program itself is a bit complicated in that you can do a huge lot of things. If you use NVDA, you can download Osara that's a plug-in for Reaper and the software will be very accessible. If you want something accessible and free... Maybe Audacity is your best choice.

Jenux doesn't start I don't know why but doesn't start and i don't understand why! I do exactly the same things I've done with the ubuntu mate distro: flashed Jenux on my usb drive, booted the laptop but then it doesn't do anything at all, no sound, no speech; the laptop doesn't have any kind of problems!

but it doesn't owrk; don't know how to go for the screen reader to work! I've also downloade knoppix and it doesn't work eather; the only distro i've installed succesfully was ubuntu mte that's a bit to heavy for my pc.

I'll try audacity and give it a chance.Now I'm thinking of starting Ubuntu Mate in such a way that it brings me directly to the terminal or in Emacspeak. I'm feeling like a kid using blocks like Lego, trying to build something new. I've started with Ubuntu Mate and I'm trying to build a laptop just as i want; I mean with only the programs I need; I'm trying to learn the terminal and the various operations we can do using it and I like it very much. I'm still using windows 10 in my main pc but this little guys is born to a new life with linux. Now, I'ld like to find a program like audacity or something like that for recording or editing audio. What should I try?

I don't know nothing at all about the linux command line but I could imagine it would be more accessible than the graphical interfaces but, to begin my journey i think I'ld have to start from something similar to my old windows os. And what about cali? Is it accessible? There are so many distro and I simply don't know what to choose. I know that there is also a distro for people who produce music or videos and, since music is my first hobby... Is it accessible? Sorry for my continous questions, guys! I'm a bit tired of having windows os in each and every pc; I want something different! :-)

Linux, what distro to use?

Hi guys!I've seen many forum topics about linux and its numerous distros available for blind people.I have some , questions; they might be stupid, I know, but here they are:Being a complete newbie in using linux and having a laptop I can use to test this os, what are the reccomended distros you could suggest?I know something about ubuntu and I've read of the inaccessibility of the unity desktop, is it right?What are the main differences between the various distros wich we can use?I would like having a lite distro because my laptop is not so powerful; i had windows 10 installed on it but the system was really slow and I decided to erase it, having a fresh laptop for linux.Could you help me, please?Thank you very much in advance.Bye for now.Claudio

Hi guys! So, in terms of accessibility and usability, what's the best linux distro for us, blind? I would like to install linux in a pc that's almost 7 or 8 years old; it's a 64 bit one, it's a sort of mini laptop. I've tryed installing the windows 10 os but in my opinion it's really slow. So. what could I install to make this pc a Linux one instead of windows?It can just boot from a usb drive because it doesn't have a cd-rom drive.It's a sort of tablet running windows!I would like something easy to use and to learn before diving into Linux's various commands and such things.Thanks for your help!Claudio

Hi guys! Talking of braillers and writting in braille, for those who are interested, I've made a configuration for the BBREK keyboard in wich you use the little keyboard as a Perkins Brailler. You will use the normal six keys for writting all your letters and simbols, the 7th dot is used for going down a line and the 8th dot for going back one character and deleting it, sort of a backspace.In this way, I can use BBREK as a Perkins Brailler with almost all my bluetooth devices like PC, Cell or Tablet.In this configuration there are also the normal Pc/Talkback commands I use most!In my opinion, BBREK is a great small keyboard that cost about !%= Euros.Ok, you don't have the possibility to write directly in braille but you could use your braille knoledge for writting in many apps of your bluetooth devices; not bad at all!

Hi all! Look at lilypond. It's a language for writting music scores but you can also tell the program to compile a midi file for you. It's a great program and i Know of a Chinese blind musician that has composed at entire simphony using just Lilypond. It's a bit complex but, in my opinion, once you learn the language, you could also read it for learning music. Hope this help.

Hi! I use Ducking for my jingles and commercials in my work. So here's what i did once and than saved it as project:In a track I inserted the music and a compressor as effect, in the other I do my recording.The track with the music has to have 4 channels. Then you build a send from the voice track to the music track and send it to channels 1-2.Now open the compressor you have on your music track.There are many options and parameters; your have to set the compressor to have 4 ins and 2 outs. You have to set the compressor again so that the detector input must be on auxiliary L+R.In this way when the voice goes throwgh the compressor, the music goes down.So try this settings and if they works you can save it eather as project or a project templates. I've also set a reverb in an other track and then created an other two sends from the voice track to hte reverb.Hope this help; let me know please! Bye for now!

Thanks Gorthalon! What are the differences in these 2 synths? I've searched the Spam Synth but i didn't find it. I'm also testing the Tone 2 Firebird synth wich seems being really interesting and almost usable. There are just two parameters not labeled but the others are well named. Now I'm using Reaper with Reaear, an other plug-in for making Reaper accessible; i like it very much. I'm trying to find synths that aren't only analog like the Minimogue or the Arp. Continously looking for advices and suggestions. Thanks a lot again to all of you!

I'ld reccomend the Olympus DM7 that's like the DM901 or, but it's not as accessible as the other two recorders, the Zoom H2N! Those are the recorder I use for my job and my concerts

Hi guys! I've just solved the problem! It's just about recreating the book using the mp3 files and transforming it in a Daisy book using a software DAISY consortium has on its site! Hi! I have books recorded in mp3 format that the DM 7 seems to play correctly! But using sonority, attempting to import hte book in it, it tells me there is an error in the html file it tryes to load! And this appens for every book I try to import! But the book is correctly formatted for being a Daisy book! Loading just the folder in the daisy folder of the recorder doesn't work! How to solve the problem? I've already the latest sonority version and the latest DM 7 firmware. Bye for now!

exactly! The sound quality will be the same as yiou put the file eather on an hardisk or in a cd! It-s like a when you want a coffee: if it's not good in a glass cup, it will remain not good in every cup you use!

Hi! If the file isn't so great, it's very hard if not impossible to make it sound better! It's because you have to convert it in a better format but you can not make the file sound better! You could clean the file from pops, clicks etc... But i think it's not what you want! Hope this can help! Bye for now

guys, I have to tell you: reaAccess is compatible also with reaper 5.10! I'm using it without problems! Now Osara is better, in my opinion but The other plug.in was a must, at least for me, since I tryed Osara!!!

Ok guys! It works nicely but... How can I disable the voice on the computer im controlling by myself with the othe pc? I mean: when I start sending keys, there are two voices speaking: how to disable the voice of the controlled pc? Ive tryed to disable the voice from the menw of the addon but... Nothing seems to happen in that it mutes the voice on the computer Im using, and not the controlled pc. The only thing I found of some use, was to turn the volume of the controlled machines allway down. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi, the best way, for mee, is to split the track into items and then deleting the items you dont need or you dont want! The s key splits the selected item into 2 items at the point where you paused the playback! To be sure not to delete other items or to split them, first press shift+a and then s! Hope it helps!
