Re: Audio-Only Game Advertising

Some interesting concepts and solutions being thrown around and thanks for discussing some of the methods currently implemented into games. I myself am still undecided on which method is the most ideal, but one thing that was mentioned by Dark, was the use of Logo sounds. I think this idea is similar to the earcons used to notify computer users of certain situations. So maybe this idea should/could be used more frequently. In terms of the adverts for other games, the idea of a soundclip of gameplay could be a very interesting method, as this would provide sound designers like myself an incredible opportunity to capture a players attention through audio alone. It might not necessary require in game audio as often tv adverts of video games state that the footage is not in game footage.Any more ideas or thoughts please fire away, I find it really interestingAll the bestJoeURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=154591#p154591

[Audiogames-reflector] Audio-Only Game Advertising

Audio-Only Game Advertising

Hi guysI was wondering if some could provide some information on some thoughts I have been having recently, regarding the advertising of audio-only games. What I am wondering is two things really;1. How do you hear about new releases?2. What are the best ways to advertise within in an audio-only game? The reason I ask this is I was recently playing a few mobile games, and I found the majority of free games have a small collection of adverts that cycle through at the top/bottom of the screen or have a full screen advert before the game/in between levels. These are essential to making money from a game in many cases. Now would this be acceptable in an audio-only game on mobile platform? Because I was wondering about the individuals playing the game. I envisage games designed specifically for the visually impaired/blind but a visual advert would be rendered almost useless. So alternatives would surely be an audio advert? Could anybody provide some info
rmation on audio adverts, whether they exist or any sites or papers relating to this?Look forward to hearing from you guys,All the bestJoe GornallURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=154426#p154426
