Re: ReactOS, Anyone?

Id be curious if the sound works on one of those generic USB soundcards. I have a 12 year old card like that lying around specifically because it works with generic windows drivers back to 98se. Very handy when you need sound to install your mobo drivers.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=173071#p173071

Re: ReactOS, Anyone?

@Chris: Yes, Win8 original is unsupported. You have to update to 8.1 Update. And I agree that M$ have gone off the rails, just at the moment.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=173083#p173083

Re: ReactOS, Anyone?

@Shuteye: Given the rocky state of this distro, Id say, honestly, your best bet is to try it and see what happens. But last I heard, they dont run on actual hardware yet, only emulation. But the email I was looking at was circa 2008, so maybe things have changed.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=173093#p173093

ReactOS, Anyone?

Hi all. Has anyone tried ReactOS, a clone of MS Windows NT 4.0 and above? If so, can it be made accessible? If not, why?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172958#p172958

Re: ReactOS, Anyone?

From what i have heard, they dont even have sound working yet in that project. So, i think it would take some dedicated devs to get accessibility off the ground. Believe me, iv looked in to it.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172963#p172963

Re: ReactOS, Anyone?

@arqmeisterThere is sound in ReactOS, but its not stable, but the problem for accessibility is apparently that they havent implemented the APs necessary for screen reader support.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172973#p172973

Re: ReactOS, Anyone?

Ive been following them for some years now, last time I checked they have sound support for ac97 cards, but it takes a lot of messing around that cant really be done without speech. It seems to me that theyve got big dreams and talk big talk, but arent really going anywhere, due to lack of resources and experienced devs. And, if they do somehow get off the ground, microsoft will probably do their damnedest to crush them in court. I was on their mailing list at one point, Im pretty sure they either do not care about or do not have the time to implement much accessibility, sooo...its gonna be a while, if ever.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172992#p172992
