1 TB hard drive not showing up after setting up my new pc So today I just got my new computer and the 240GB ssd works but, for some reason how or not even sure Windows does not detect my 1 TB drive that should be in the system. I even checked the disk mamangement to even see if it is even their and nope not their ither. Also, is the hard drive properly connected to your system, is it recieving power, do you feel the vibrations when it's on. Tab once and nvda should say graphical view table, then hit left a bunch of times until your screen reader stops speaking, and arrow downwards. It'll tell you all the drives in your pc. You have to find the hdd, context menu key and create new simple volume.Sorry if you already did this, but I had trouble with htis also with my first build. Re: 1 TB hard drive not showing up after setting up my new pc well there isn't a lot of information to work with there but if it is meant to be built in to the system and you just bought it, i would agree with an earlier poster and say you should call the people you bought it from. this may sound stupid, but there's also the possibility that they sell it with either a 240 ssd or a 1tb standard and you assumed you were getting both? yeah i know that's kind of a dumb question but i've been doing tech support for 20 years or so and you'd be amazed how people misunderstand things or don't read the small print. Note the "total storage capacity" line under specs.This seems to be a desktop and/or tower, which means swappable components. My guess is that the drive isn't plugged in properly. Sometimes the cables can work loose during shipping. Your best bet is to reach out to tech support, though, as I'd assume that if you had someone who knew enough to take a look you'd not be reaching out to us, and feeling around inside your new computer when you don't know what's what is a good way to break it and void the warranty at the same time. Re: 1 TB hard drive not showing up after setting up my new pc hello.an alternative way to find out whether your hdd drive is connected is by using diskpart.open cmd and type diskpart.when it opens, type list disk.if it's connected, you should sea 2 disks with 2 different capacities.also, you can tell whether your hdd is powering up or not, by listening at your case when you press the power button.if you heard a winding up followed by some head movement noises, it means that it powers up. stil if windows doesn't recognise it, it maybe that the data cable is disconnected.you can listen to some hdd power up sounds in youtube.. They'll wow you with the specs, but they won't tell you that the memory is slower or that the motherboard is lame. Also, prebuilt gaming pcs are kind of a joke in general, they end up full of weird motherboard features and stuff that make gamers feel powerful at the cost of system stability.It's like a used car salesman. That new car might have an engine in it that you'd find in a racecar, but too bad the steering wheel wobbles, the suspension is made of cheap plastic, the seatbelts fell off in your hand...Your machine isn't bad, but if you'd done research and/or built it yourself and/or gone to the workstation market, you could probably have done better. In time, you'll possibly discover whatever weirdness is inside it. Maybe not, sometimes you get lucky. But I avoid the gaming PCs these days because you never know. Ironically, it usually seems to be audio that's buggy and weird with them. The audio is normal for me and the issue was a lose cable at the drive and my dad was able to put the cable back in the drive.
