You can certainly pay for data recovery services but unless you had something on there work-related that's absolutely worth the price tag--and that means the difference between your bread and butter and living in a cardboard box--you'll just have to find other ways to reobtain all your stuff. Of course, in today's technologically accessible market it's a given that everyone has a backup floating around somewhere.
