Vary stupid.5: getting flagged by all antiviruses, And letting the community stupidly think that every app/game getting flagged by windows defender or any antivirus program that the report is false, Which lets them get a free computer virus and then comes crying like babies in the forum or any public place saying that they got a virus... Duh.6: While maybe many people haven't notice this, But the bgt game window is broken, Where you can not change your keyboard language while in the window, And i seriously didn't see this bugg except for bgt games, Even programs that got developed in 2003 has the language switching feeture.7: vary closed: You can not even use any good networking functions/whatever was it, Because 99% of bgt's functionality is broken anyway, And the broken dll wrapping functionality doesn't help with that either.8: Broken sound system, While many of you doesn't notice, But really the bgt audio system is broken, And glitchy and laggy and everything not good in the world, I understand that this may do with it not being updated in a long while but still...9: Ram use limitation: In bgt, There's a vary small ram limitation that you can't ever pass, While many of you may think that it's not required but it may be for someone else for a reason... Yes, Some languages has a ram limit i know, But the bgt one is pretty small...10: Bgt misses a lot of shit, And what it has is not that ok or good or fast or cool enough to let me go like, Oh, This functionality is cool, Let me use it for eternity.11: While this is not to the language, But it goes to it, Bad practices, Do to the language being super easy in compiling and all of that, Many people has made vary broken code and then open sourced it and many learned from it, And there we go, We have a group of people that whent into development in the wrong way.12: There's no threads/multithreading, For who doesn't know what those are, Those are things that let some functions run without awaiting other code to be executed, It sounds like it's another program running alone, That's useful when for example, You've want to read a huge file but at the same time go run to find a serten item, Or kill a serten ai/character, Or even loading other files as well.13: The developer him self said don't use it.14: Larj amount of the community has just blacklisted bgt made from games, And they won't play any game coded in it, And the amount is growing bigger and bigger.15: there's no try: except functions/structs, Those functions are useful when you have a type of code to execute and there's many ways that it could error out with and you just want to set 1 exception for them, That one is useful, Or even let your program give a speshel error of your own when erroring, Or letting a program not crash when reaching a serten error, Etc.16: There's no way to crash/error out in your library/code to warn someone else about a serten thing, Bgt's errors are mostly the same, Index out of bounce, And the same one, Or memory errors or some small dll errors that are unchangeable.And there, You get a list of reasons why to not use it, If someone wishes to add to it, Feel free by posting a post. They have a lot more to do with a lack of understanding. Not just when it comes to coding the games, but also for designing/administrating them. Why people decide that online games are perfect for diving into coding I still don't understand. There is a lot involved without even touching code. Switching to Python isn't going to fix the problem. In this situation, it would probably just make things worse since it involves learning about networking in more detail. +1 to making an offline game that can actually be maintained before thinking about trying something online. Every website is moving over to HTTPS from HTTP. Why? Because Chrome, Firefox, ETC, are placing the checkmark lock icon next to sites that support HTTPS, and people think that just because a site uses HTTP it's the worst and it's out to take your information. Not that they're wrong, but that's in short one of the reasons.Next, BGT only supports two file types natively. Those are OGG and WAV. No MP3, No nothing other than those two.Next, it's been out of support for so many years.Next, you won't ever, well maybe in specific circumstances, find a job coding BGT. It'd also give you guys, and the rest of our group, a chance to cool off about the whole situation, and a chance for tunmi to really get into Python and the workings of it. All well and good, right? Not right.First thing that happens, is that tunmi changes server without warning anyone, which isn't an issue per se. The issue however, is that he changed the server only because he *didn't trust Ivan*And with that said, the question comes up. Why, did you add Ivan in the dev team in the first place if you don't trust him? The response was essentially that he added him only because he thought ivan knew more than him, although he didn't exactly trust him. Not only that, but he had apparently done that after his friends, I don't know who these are and I don't care, told him that Ivan is this, Ivan steals that, usual stuff.I'm not going to go in too much detail, but I just wanted to confirm what Ivan had said earlier. Working with the guy is actually not fun, and certainly, it doesn't benefit the codebase at all.I also would like to clear something up which had came up on the discussion we had.To anyone who may think that Ivan or anyone else had joined the dev team to steal the code, I will say that you're mistaken. There is nothing to gain by leaking and publish such a messy codebase, especially when there are a lot of things to deal with in our lives. The lag was so bad most of the time I just died while 10 or so undead got on top of me.Given all that, I still saw some potential in this game, and I still do for the record. I asked Tunmi if he needed help with some things, and I gave him a few things he could use to try to help the game, and eventually he let me in the dev team.We worked on a few updates, everything was fine and the lag was even starting to clear up. We had the game running for the last few days with a bunch of players connected, I would log on from time to time and we would bring out dragons for people to kill, etc. Until...Tunmi took it down of course. Look, I've always complained about people being ungrateful at times, but this guy really knows how to make a good example of that. There were 4 of us in the dev team, and no one found out that the Rotu game was discontinued until all 3 of us (Tunmi excluded of course) looked at the forum or people would just ask us about it throughout the time it was down.I would sometimes bring it up to Tunmi, but I would be met with silence on the other end. When I point blank told him how I felt about the entire situation he considered bringing it up, but even that took 1 week of his time. I offered to do most of the work because I really liked coding for this game and I wanted to start adding more things, but no. The other developers talked about doing something to the game but nope, we had to wait until Tunmi changed his updater (btw this would probably take a few minutes) and then we could finally begin because the game was just unplayable before then.But of course, things don't always go as planned. The other 2 developers left because they saw Tunmi wasn't organized, had no clear goal for the game and would make really quick decisions without consulting us first, about anything. It is his game, and I'm going to be the first one to defend him on that, but in his message he sent us when he wanted to bring it up was something along the lines of "Well I gotta focus on GC, so I'll need the other devs to take care of it for me." Honestly, for some that know me, know that I don't really help out with games like these for free, but I really saw potential in this game, so I decided to work on this to help out the community in games, but this is how we're repaid. I saw a post talking about the roomers going around on GC about me apparently wanting to take it down, and that's another thing entirely and I hold no one person at fault, I just honestly think it's something someone started.
