Do People Want an All Things Blindness Forum

Hello. There was a discussion about adding a new software releases room to the forum, but because this forum is primarily geared towards gaming the room wasn’t added. In the past, Klango fulfilled the purpose of being an all things blindness forum and more, but Klango has since been discontinued. Would anyone be apposed to me starting a forum for that? I can do it, but I’d rather not go through the trouble of making this unless it’s something that everyone wants. I’d also like to point out that this would probably be close to if not exactly like the audio games forum, apart from the rooms which would be different.

Re: Do People Want an All Things Blindness Forum

Why though. You just said you wanted to leave this forum a few days back. Now you want to create one from the ground up and moderate it? That's much more stressful than just participating when you can just walk away at any time. I don't think that's particularly wise.

Re: Do People Want an All Things Blindness Forum

I just sat down and had a little talk with myself about this, and all 3 of us (me myself and I) have come up with a very important conclusion. This may not be such a good idea. I knew very well that this would be stressful for me, and for some reason I was thinking of doing it anyway. Another idea I had was to host it and mini manage the thing while someone I trust could moderate it for me, and not only is that kind of selfish but I only have one person who might be willing to do that, and he’s busy. This isn’t a one-man or even a two-man job.

I want a forum!  I want a big bad forum!  I want a forum so big and so bad that I've decided I'm not going to conform to any other formula for forming a forum than my forum forming formula.  If you want to know what my forum forming formula is you'll come and discuss it on my forum once it has been formed and formulated.  Until then, I suggest you stick to this forum and stay tune for the forming of my forum so you can find out what my formula for forming forums actually is.

At #9,I think it would be kinda cool.. I'd like it not readable by the sighted public, but a blog written by us for the sighted public would be cool also. Properly written, and covering different topics. Maybe an all things blindness podcast also? My sight just started getting really bad within the last five years, and I feel like I'm learning life all over again. Even I could learn a lot about resources, technology, and who knows what else from this type of forum.

Re: Do People Want an All Things Blindness Forum

I understand the fact that this forum's community is rather corrupt. I understand that perhaps making a forum for a limited non-corrupted community may be a good step forward. However, do be careful. Just because you are the leader of the forum, doesn't exactly mean the community will change accordingly. My point is, get more moderators. One can't do all the work if you're still tempted to move on with this decision.

I don’t think this forum is corrupt, and I don’t think its moderator team is corrupt. If I were to host a forum (something which I’m still mulling over in my head as a possibility for the future) I would want someone like Jade or Liam on my team, because I appreciate and respect the way they run things.

Having read the topic. I got questions.1. Why? Reddit's /r/blind subreddit exists2. Why would you not want everyone to read it? That's one giant, glaring flaw that leaps out at me. Oh let's make a forum about beingness, but let's restrict it to only blind people. Good idea /sarcsm.Also the name is cringey, I'm sorry, but what gives you the right to speak about all things blind when you've never used more than two handfuls of the stuff that's out there?

I'm the one who said I've not used a lot of blind technology.. Don't hold that against me. I for one am happy that I lived a normal life for more than half of it, and could see before I lost it. I got to do everything normally.. I could benefit from a forum like this.. Hopefully I wouldn't encounter bitterness for having had sight in my earlier life.. Obviously come up with a catchier name than all things blindness. The creator of the topic seems to just be spitballing here. I'd personally like to see a united blind community rather than a divided one.

@19:Because it is quite literally impossible to use every piece of technology. I said you've only used a handful of what's out there, or two handfuls because there is so much technology out there, that it is simply impossible to have used all the technology that's out there at any given time. That's why I said that. I feel like it's a perfectly valid point. Nobody's used every piece of blind tech that's ever existed.Oh and I stil don't like the 'All things blind' name really, but if it gets a better name.

I'm  testing out distopia, an accessible reddit application for IPhone.  I'd have to say, it wouldn't be that bad to have an  all things blindness forum.  However,  with that said, the r/blind  subreddit  isn't  very  active,  so I doubt the forum might be as active as you might imagine.  I'm sorry,  it wouldn't be a bad idea on paper, but  because  this forum is so large already and so heavily known, I doubt there's any way  your  forum'll compete if we're looking at numbers.  Nothing  has ever come close to the AG  forums in terms of exposure, relevance, or  even just  viewership.

The audio games forum is primarily geared towards gaming. It would only be a competition if somebody tried to make another audio games forum, which is not what I had in mind. Honestly I do not understand why I have to keep pointing out to people that I am not trying to compete with this forum. The idea - (if I had chosen to even continue it in the first place which I didn’t) - is to make something that comes close to how Klango was like, given how it no longer exists. Klango was a pretty good success during its time, so why couldn’t anything else be?
