@5i think we need math for stuf like machine learning and data science, because if you don't know what is a mean, median mode, in ml, then, it's vry difficult to hack around it.and yes, we need vectar matematics if you wan't to write a game from scratch.and a basic trig for rotation and stuf.yes, i do agree you dno't need math for almost all frontend web development, and some backend web developmentand i don't think we need math in app development unless your developing an app for mathematical scientists. or some thing like that. i just use mathematical scientist example just because to explain, but not only a math scientist, but any mathematical taskand op, you can learn some basic math on internet. since your saying you love math, google discrete mathematics i think if you wan't to do cs degreebut all i hurd is, discrete mathematics are for computer science, but not sure you need all the math you learned in your heigh school. since i love math also, after programming, i don't find much hard in understanding math. you can learn on internt. if you find a good teacher, then good for you, you can learn really well.

Re: Help me choose the right road

Try contacting a few institutions where you think you will be studying to see what courses are part of their programmes so that you have a better view of what you are going to study. Also, consider talking to any active student organisation at the institution as they can give you a good perspective on the programmes and their content. In the mean time, look at the support that you will be getting at university. See what services are there available to students with disabilities. If you really want to invest in programming or computer science and you see Maths as a problem, you may also consider working with a private teacher to close some gaps there. He/she might be able to design a programme that might help you build some concepts that you have not acquired through years in Maths. Of course this is an option if you can afford it.

Re: Help me choose the right road

I'm not saying that you don't. I'm just providing information about the career that's more nuanced than the typical "this math stuff is useless" that you get from places like coding bootcamps and stuff like that, because there's a huge unspoken "if you don't mind never working somewhere like Google" on there that they don't say.

Re: Help me choose the right road

Its not that I don't want to learn math, I am just lost in it since I wasn't trained how to study math well, and stuff like geometry kill me.

Re: Help me choose the right road

You don't need math to program.  You do need math for a CS degree.  Unfortunately you probably need a CS degree to get a job unless you have another way to get a resume. That said, people like to say "well the math isn't important".  And, calculus kind of isn't.  But math stuff does come up a lot if you try for the cooler jobs that aren't just writing some web endpoints or something.  You can succeed without really good math skills and will make a decent amount of money, but you'll make even more money if you can get them.

Re: Help me choose the right road

I'd generally say that when you finish your studies and have the degree in your pocket, take about a half year off and see what job opportunitys come around.I did the same and started for possible jobs as I knew that I would finish the training successfully. It was through word of mouth but I actually got a job which, funnelly enough, is in a field that I never thought i would work in and isn't really related to what I trained for about 3 years, but if it works out, it's a well paying one for a first time job with a few chances to advance.Greetings Moritz.

Re: Help me choose the right road

It really depends on what kind of programming you want to do. I mean, if you're programming a lot of web stuff for instance, you're probably not going to need a lot of math, besides understanding how variables work and all. On the other hand, if you're programming 3D graphics, get ready to bust out some calculus. It's true computer science majors will make you take a bunch of math, that's why I got out of mine, I couldn't hack calculus. I kind of wish I got to tackle linear algebra though because it sounds kind of interesting. Anyway, you should be able to contact places you're interested in and talk to them about what their courses entail, in terms of what kind of math and the amount of math you need to take. But I also agree with the other poster. If you're really interested, learning math will take care of itself just as part of what you need to get to what you're interested in. Plus you should already have some motivation if you've had a good teacher. If you still have that teacher, see if you can talk to them about what kinds of strategies work for you for learning math. Then maybe you can tell other teachers or other people you're working with, e.g. if people are reading you math problems or you get a tutor or what have you.

Re: Help me choose the right road

if you love programming, you can use that as motivation to learn math. The better you get at something, the more you are ok with learning it. Hope that helps.

Help me choose the right road

Hello,So this year I finish school. In May I take my final exams, and what then?My biggest love is of course programming and math, but what can i do if I never was able to learn math properly? Even though I have a high understanding and I gain knowledge quickly, I never had a good teacher until two years ago and what one can learn in two years? And I cannot do programming without math, people tell me.Then there's Sinology, but will I be able to earn money after this study? I also love history greatly, but there is no occupation for historians in my country. What should I do?
