Re: Part of a website hates screen-readers issue.

When you say you've used other devices with other OSs, I assume things like Android, iOS or Mac? It would seem really odd to me that the same bug persists on each platform. I also assume that the close button is greyed out for whatever reason?

Re: Part of a website hates screen-readers issue.

To add to what Mayana said, to focus mouse, use NVDA shift M on laptop and NVDA numpad divide on desktop.  You can either use NVDA left and right bracket to do a mouse click at that point, or NVDA enter if that doesn't work as they mentioned. Good luck man...

It's oddly rewarding to solve mini challenges like that! Probably cause I'm not doing anything better with my life, considering the sites that tend to harbour the most challenges are not the necessary sorts of sites.

Re: Part of a website hates screen-readers issue.

Ah yes. All of the many ways of pressing a button. Let's see ...- enter and/or space,- NVDA+enter (or NVDA+NumPad enter, depending on your keyboard layout),- focus the mouse to the button (sometimes needs a couple presses) and click,- switch to focus mode (or browse if you were already in focus) and do all those things again (rolling dice for stats and skills in Foundry only works in focus mode, for example),- activate OCR, find the button, and try focusing and clicking it again,- download ObjPad, try activating the button in scan mode,- open the site in a new browser and do all of these things again,- try again with JAWS just in case,- uh ... narrator? ZDSR? I used most of these steps when trying to get parts of D Beyond to obey me, lol. It's both fun and frustrating at once.Another thing I've found with dialogs with a non-working close button is that sometimes, while pressing enter on "close" doesn't seem to do anything, the dialog will disappear once you tab out of it. So try that as well, perhaps? As you can see from that list above, I am absolutely clueless abut these things. But I wish you luck on your website-wrangling adventure.

Re: Part of a website hates screen-readers issue.

Try NVDA+ctrl+space. If that fails, also try NVDA+F5.  If that also fails you probably have broken Aria and should find out if there's someone to contact, unless you have enough knowledge to poke around with Firefox devtools.

Part of a website hates screen-readers issue.

I log on to a website which I need to work with for school. Click on a link. Some dialogue comes up. There’s a close button. I press it. Absolutely nothing happens. This is the issue that I’ve dealt with on three separate devices running three different operating systems, time and fucking time again. That button will not press no matter what I do. On windows in particular, the mouse likes to pretend that the button doesn’t exist. Nvda keeps saying something about it not being on screen. Is there any way to deal with this stupid button?
