Re: Accessible TV

You can do everything in it, cause it is written in _javascript_.You can do everything that sighted persons can do in this app by using voice guide.Or, if ya don't want to use this app, just use chromecast button in your youtube on the phone, and select samsung tv from the list.Speaking off hacking tv, i'll do it when we change to newer model, cause i wanna extract system sounds and setup music from it.But for now there aren't any instructions how to do that for my model.Regards.

Re: Accessible TV

#8 you have samsung apps store from where you can install apps, there's also possibility to install external apps called widgets, but it is not supported by samsung, for more about hacking your samsung tv visit:samygo.tvAnd find something fo your model, but it is risky, cause it can void your varranty.#9 If your tv has 3 years, there's no chance to get any new update, cause it's unsupported. Some of accessible apps in smarthub are youtube and internet browser, you can do everything in them. There was also netflix, but it's accessibility has been destroyed in the last update.Regards.

Re: Accessible TV

I know my Samsung TV came with a bunch of apps installed, but they arent accessible with Voice Guide. I don't know if any software updates were rolled out to improve on that since. I got this TV about 3 years ago. I have an Apple TV and Fire Stick connected to it anyhow.

Re: Accessible TV

Sounds like Samsung or Fire OS TV's are my best options. I actually have a Samsung TV here that I thought was damaged, hence my post - but it's working fine now. I'll most likely get a Samsung in the future should I need it.I thought I heard awhile ago there was a brand known as Bravia that had a built-in screen reader that would read nearly everything, including channels and men guides for live cable, but it was just something I heard in passing.

Re: Accessible TV

Hi.I reasonly discovered that Sharp tv's have a screenreader, but only in English. It seems like if the language is set to an other language than English, then the accessibility settings simply disappears. I have searched on any ways to turn on the screenreader without sighted help, but I haven't found any information on that yet. So it's difficult to recommend those tv's in my opinion. The Samsung Smart tv's, from series 6 and newer, have their own screenreader build in, and you can turn on the screenreader without sighted help. The screenreader supports a lot of different languages. I don't know if Samsung have put out a public list of languages somewhere. The Samsung tv's are the best tv's I ever have seen regarding to accessibility, and they are available in most countries world wide.

Re: Accessible TV

I have an LG Elements TV 2019 model purchased from Walmart. Out of the box, the TV will come up speaking, you just have to listen to the whole message so that you hit the button to keep it on rather than turning it off, otherwise you'll of course need sighted assistance to turn it back on. Just another option. Many of the Vizio smart TV's have voice guidance also.

Re: Accessible TV

I know LG has a cool screenreader, but you can't turn it on if you are blind cause accessibility menu isn't talking with out voice guide enabled, in samsung it does.Sharp has also included accessibiliy in TV's manufactured since 2017, but i didn't test it yet.Panasonic has also accessibility, but better i will not talk about it, cause it is a piece of shit in compare to LG and Samsung. Also we have Android TV with talkback, and fire TV.We are on the good road to have more accessible devices, cause 8 years ago there wasn't any TV that was supporting screenreader.Regards.
