Yeah, you can run the installer silently so it will do the entire job alone without the need of interaction. Just google it, its some kind of command-line argument, --quiet or --silent or something.Best Regards.Hijacker

@15: well I personally don't see the difference between getting headshot one time and seven times, but that's probably a subjective thing.@17: yes it is, just the installation is bit... tricky ehm. I think I managed to do it one time with ocr, but I don't remember. The most confortable way is of course to ask someone to make that one click for you, but one my friend managed to pass it himself by adding -s argument if I remember right, what caused the silent installation.Best regardsRastislav

Re: An accessable anti-virus software

Thankfully, some addblockers now come with extra filter lists that block adware and malware domains, which helps with malvertizing, along with using a privacy extension to reduce the amount of third party services on each page you visit which also speeds up browsing in general.  Can sometimes be a pain in the ass to unblock important things to make a site run properly though.@HijackerI don't disagree, but I never said it was the solution to everything, just one part of the whole protection rutene, and it's saved my ass plenty of times before. But yes, scanning your backups with a good antivirus before copying them to the new installation, is a very solid idea.@EthinBigger sites can get infected, obviously that's true, it happens regularly, but compared to torrent, porn, and less heard of software sites with those downloaders instead of the actual programs, yeah, we're talking 10% of the time VS 70% of the time here.  So reducing your attack surface when possible and taking extra precautions when it's not is a smart thing to do.

Re: An accessable anti-virus software

Hi there,I have been using Kaspersky total security for few years, and it's the best av I ever used. It's mostly accessible, just its secure confirmation screen is bit annoying, but the rest is fine. What I appreciate on it are many layers of protection, it can block access of applications to webcam, microphone, and other resources, its system watcher can track changes made in system and roll them back if something is damaged by malware, there are of course layers like behavioral analysis, known-threats analysis, and you can even restrict rights of applications for example by disabling or limiting access to file system for them, registry, accessing memory of other processes etc.Together with few other security apps, this is pretty strong configuration. If it was cracked some day, it would be just my fault. Best regardsRastislav

Let's not forget malvertizing too. An otherwise clean site that relies on ads can fall victim to malvertizing, which is basically jerks using ads to get malware on the machines of whoever encounter the ad.

Re: An accessable anti-virus software

I hate it when people say that common sense is the answer to not getting infected. That just does not work. "Stay away from shady sites"? That only works 10-15 percent of the time. Did you know that CCleaner was infected back in 2017 by a few hackers after AVAST purchased it? It infected hundreds of thousands of computers, and no one who claimed "common sense is the answer" even knew it was there. It looked harmless too: you'd open the properties and everything looked legit. You'd open the application and it all looked legit. The app even functioned normally. Except... it didn't. The app would do everything it normally did... but then, after 10 minutes (600 seconds) the apps virus component would activate. It would launch secretly in the background and contact a CaC server and do whatever the server required of it. And you'd have [absolutely] no idea!I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in this post, but am just pointing out that common sense and backups aren't always the right solution. If your infected, its trivial for a virus to wait quietly until a backup starts and back itself up to your backups so that you can't recover them. Its evne easier for it to upload itself to your backup disks where you store it and infect *all* your backups, making recovery impossible. But, back on track: an accessible AV program I'd go for would be malwarebytes. Ifanyone tells you that its only for malwar, it does catch malware, but it also catches viruses too. (Hint hint: never run two -- or more -- AVs simultaneously. Bad things will happen.)

Re: An accessable anti-virus software

The answer that a backup is the solution to everything is btw not entirely correct. Its always a great idea to have a backup lying around somewhere, but virus software can do more than just destroying your data. Your system can be used to infect other systems in your home, like your partner's or your parent's pcs, even mobile devices, it can be used for mining crypto currency in background, draining your cpu power and increasing your power passthrough, download/share illegal data which can cause law conflicts which need to be taken care of.In fact, Windows Defender is a valuable tool nowadays since Windows 10 1709 if i'm not wrong here and gets daily definition updates, it should basically be enough to take care of the well known malware out there, but it shouldn't hurt to support it with tools like malware bytes or other antivirus tools.Best Regards.Hijacker

Post 2 was probably trolling. Also, this is about the fifth such topic I've seen in about a month. If ever there was a case for not closing topics of a certain age, this is it. I don't understand why, since topics do stay open indefinitely here, why someone can't search for posts pertaining to accessible antivirus solutions, then add any questions they may have to said existing topics, rather than cluttering the place with more of the same.
