Re: Are Lenovo Laptops Safe?

I've used a 32-bit version of 10 on a machine with 2 GB RAM, and it works. It's not what I'd call ideal, because I only had about 700 MB free RAM right after booting Windows without running anything else. I wouldn't recommend running anything past XP with less than 4 GB RAM though, and 8 is the standard these days.

@ironcross32You can do the basics with 4GB.  If you don't do anything more than that it's fine.  Also if it's an all-in-one I bet it's 32 bit windows as well, which "helps" for some definition of helps.

Re: Are Lenovo Laptops Safe?

I have several computers with 4 GB RAM, and they work okay as long as you don't run too many programs and/or browser tabs at the same time. Using 4 GB is the absolute minimum when it comes to running modern operating systems, so I'd always recommend at least 8 GB if you're purchasing a new computer today. I can't justify going past 8 GB unless you do more intensive things such as music production, video editing, etc. I have a laptop with 8 GB, and I find I'm not even using half the RAM most of the time.

Agree with defender  as well. Things aren't made as they used to be. The blame? Capitalism, greed, money, you name it.  Mind you, I get the why; but they are screwing customers over, in a way. However this comes into the equation as well; how well does one take care of his stuff; that plays just as big a roll as of what something is made. It all depends. Its not just of what something is made of, its how well you take care of that is part of this equation as well. I agree though, this, tactic is shady as fuck, but again, it just goes to show how corrupting money can be. That, and it shows someone's true intentions, in jhe sence that say, a company says, we care about our customers, etc, etc, we make good products, reliable and all that crap; and it turns out their products are shit? Shows their true intentions and where they actually stand.

Almost every company that does laptops does something as bad as Lenovo, it's just that Lenovo got caught and distilled to something nonprogrammers could understand.  If you're concerned, do a fresh Windows install to a non-OEM Windows and call it a day; they don't play with the bios and kind of can't for a whole host of reasons.

I read about that as well. Personally, and its just my opinion here; I would never trust this company. They did the malware thing, and from what I read they pulled another similar stunt a while after that. This company, at least for me, is not to be trusted; at all. While they releaced a fix for the malware, they later did the... I forget what it was, but a engine that replaced a windows core file, and which reinstalled after powering back on or rebooting or reinstalling windows. They removed this since 2015... However if a company is willing to pull this kind of crap once, not only  could and probably would;  they do it again, but they've shone they are not to be trusted. Plus its a shady as heck tactic to pull off. Its just not done, no ifs, ands, or buts. Just no. Plus i've heard a large reason why they removed their malware was from pressure from microsoft, that and their security was crap, thus enabling users to find it, however what is to say they haven't done it again? They did it once, got caught... They learned from it, so why wouldn't they pull this off again. An honest company wouldn't pull this crap in the first place. The fact they did it... Uh, no. I, for one, if I ever get a Windows  laptop, will stear clear of this company.

Re: Are Lenovo Laptops Safe?

I was about to say exactly the same thing. If you're really concerned, just create a bootable USB flash drive of Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool. Boot off the drive, choose to delete all the internal drive partitions, and let the Windows installer install the latest version of Windows 10. In most cases, this will work fine. Once Windows is installed, be sure to run Windows Update. This will grab any drivers that may be missing and install all the latest security patches. Once that's done, you won't have to worry about any built-in malware.
