Re: Kenshira Plays season 2: Audio demos of mainstream games

The ps2 version has traditional fighting game inputs such as quarter circles and dragon punch motions. The psp version, from what I remember, changed it to make it more like MK, with some Soul Calibur style inputs as well. Basic controls are are the same as most other modern fighters. Square is light, triangle is medium, circle is heavy and x is reflect guard. Note that this is not the same as blocking. Guarding is a perry, and is used to fill the holy grail meter. Blocking is done traditionally, by holding back.

This isn't available on the switch sadly. In settings which is the last option, if you go into the first group, difficulty is the first option, with four difficulty settings. If people are interested, i don't think it would be too hard for me to write up a basic menu guide for this game.

Re: Kenshira Plays season 2: Audio demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! It's a new week, which means that it's time for a new game! Today, I'm slashing my way through fate/unlimittedode for the psp!Firstly, let me apologize for the long delay between the first and second episodes of this second season of Kenshira Plays. So much has been going on, including national termoils, lunar new year festivities, other projects and unforseen recording interruptions and delays but at last, things have settled down enough for me to bring you this next installment, and I hope you find it an enjoyable one. It was my original intent to bring you guys another game today, but the outcomes were so random in the other game that I figured it's probably best to stick to something more within my control for now. Perhaps another day I shall attempt to present it, when I've worked up enough motivation to try again, for that other game is still very playable, it's just, very random and silly. For now, let us begin today's presentation in proper.I figured its about time we touched on a fighting game with proper stereo sound for the first time in this series, so I bring you Fate/unlimited code, which is a 2.5d 3-button fighter from capcom, the famous company that I've spoken of in previous posts. They've published and developed many more fighting games with stereo sounds beyond this one, but Fate/UC is a good game to start with, since it is relatively obscure. It was released first for the Playstation 2, then digitally as a budget title for the Playstation Portable on the psn store at around the start of the last deckade. It has since been delisted from the western stores, but it was apparently rereleased as a bundle alongside the Fate Extra RPG for the Playstation Vita in Japan. As for this game, it plays similarly to the Marvel VS Capcom 3 and infinite games, minus the tag mechanics, but it has enough stuff to make it stand on its own. Instead of the fourth button being used to tag, it is used to parry similarly to how it's done in Street Fighter 3. In fact, the bonus game you will hear at the end of the demo is quite similar in style to the bonus game featured in street fighter 3. Beyond that, you can use the light, medium and heavy attack buttons to string together combos and juggle your opponents similarly to how it is done in the Bleach fighting game series on the Ds, one of which I have already covered a few months earlier. The stereo effects and the excellent sound design in this particular game helps a great deal in knowing where you, projectiles, and your opponent are, and if you are familiar with your characters combos, it is possible to predict a coming launcher so that you are able to leap into the air to extend your combo further with a juggle. The game is fully voiced with plenty of cutscenes for each character in arcade mode, but sadly only in Japanese with english subtitles. Music for this game is great, and you can adjust both sfx and music, as well as other settings in options through sliders that do not wrap.I purchased Fate/UC way back in 2011 for 20 bucks if I remember correctly, an the game  kept my brother and me busy for a long time learning about all the characters and lore of the Fate universe. It was around that time that the Fate/stay night  anime series was becoming popular in the west, with an english dub for the anime available to watch. Not long after obtaining the game, we sat down one day to watch the movie, which I believe is called Fate/unlimited blades work, which did not have an english dub just yet, so my brother had to read the subtitles to me, and he did it like a champ for the whole 95 minutes that the movie lasted. Thankfully, there is a dub for that now if you wish to watch it yourself. One thing I really appreciate about Sony consoles is that they allow you to connect multiple home and portable devices to a single account. That  let my brother and I to share purchases and play with or against one another without having to spend too much money, so we took advantage of that, often fighting each  other in games such as this. I also appreciate that this game has tons of unlockable content, such as characters, movies, costumes and modes, and beyond the arcade mode, the missions and survival modes among others really help to extend its lasting value. This is truly a product of what I believe was the golden age of gaming, where what you paid for was a complete package, without any DLC to bog down the experience, where all of the additional content was obtained through however much time you were willing to dedicate to playing the game. In the demo below, I'll work my way through arcade mode with Saber and attempt to clear the game on a single credit, and I'll throw in an unlockable trailor as well. The demo is about 28 minutes long, so grab a snack of your choice, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.fate/unlimited codes audio

Re: Kenshira Plays season 2: Audio demos of mainstream games

I love what your doing here, there are hundreds of games if not thousands that we could play a crossed  several platforms, I myself have played through kotor1/2, fable 1 2 and 3  1 needs a bit of sited help you could do it without, but there is a  racetrack that you'd half to be willing to take the time to remember, it's certainly doable if you have the time for it, and one particularly is heavily moddable so you could in theory mod the games befor eyou play them and make it easier on yourself, but you can't really mod the game once you've already started a save. i know there are more games that we could play, I'm currently working my way through dragon age origins, and have been doing fairly well, though I've taken a break recently.I know there are more games we could play, we just need a way to find them, would help if companies didn't have such crappy refund policies. Maybe someone will find a way, one day I love that your doing this, we really need a forum somewhere dedicated to those of us who try to play mainstream games and manage to find some we can manage, though I've stopped speaking to the community at large about it, the general aditude irritates me too much and the conversations just go in circles. going to try this stellerous thing or what ever it's called, though I don't quite get how I'm supposed to go about playing it

Re: Kenshira Plays season 2: Audio demos of mainstream games

Hi guys. Just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgotten about this thread and will resume my coverage as soon as I am able, for the last few days have been fairly busy with other projects and with preparation for the lunar new year which is to happen in just a couple days. Still, I do not come without news ot a playavle game, because it brings me great happiness to inform you all that a game which I have previously covered and formerly thought to be stuck in history is coming to a modern console very soon. Last year, i submitted a recording of SNK VS Capcom match if the millennium for the neo geo pocket color to this thread, and it was in that post where I had  expressed the hope of seeing the game come to the switch with its other ngpc brethren. Alas, someone must have been listening, because I just found out that it will indeed come. You will be able to buy match of the millennium from the switch eshop starting on February 17, 2021. Thats right! Forget about the imperfections of the audio in my recording, and forget about trying to track down a neo geo pocket and a copy of the game, because soon you will be able to own it at a reasonable price, and perhapse, this may make way for future projects between snk and capcom. That is all I have for now. I wish you all well, and will post a new recording as soon as I can. Do consider picking up the game if you have a switch. My recording is on the previous page if I'm not mistaken, if you want to check it out. Until next rime!

I found an old text menu guide for the game which I will paste below. It was missing a couple modes on the start screen, but I wrote them in.first screen1: game:beginner, tournament, free fishing, vs mode(this option is disabled by defaultand it won't even appear if you don't have control 2 plugged in, sodon't count it in the menu if you're playing allone) and monster tournamentafter you select a mode, you will choose number of players, samesituation, if there's only 1 person playing, there will be no secondplayer option. after choosing it, there will be the place select screen, onse you choose one, you will travel to it and can choose the lureafter that you can fish! happy fishing!options:change options's value by moving left or right and change options bygoing up and down.credits: 2 in 2: starts with 3, so if you go right, it would go to 5,then 7, then 9(maximum) and go back to one.difficulty: normal, easy, hard. starts in normalvoice starts turned on by defaultauto save starts default offloadsavecontrollerexitcontroller:control avibration: starts on by defaultreel sensitivity: starts with 3, can go up to 5Ranking: needs to be unlocked and shows your rank overall.LiveWell collection: needs to be unlocked and hosts a collection of the best of each type of fish that you've caught.in game commands: use the analog stick to reel, press x button to castthe rod, onse the beep starts playing when you're catching the fish, press r1, l1, so the line won't breaks, and if you want to change thelure to place press l1 when the pole isn't in the water. first option isto select wether if you want to change the lure or place, just one ofthe options and then press x, and choose what you want again, it'spretty straightforward. Here is that old recording I was talking about earlier. No idea who this is, but its basically what I just pasted.

I will look up the menu in a  bit, but real quick, here are the controls. Cross and circle are to reel, arrows are to tilt the pole and to hook a fish. L2 and r2 are to loosen the line when there's too much tension. L1 and r1 are to choose another lure. When casting, pressing cross a second time near the end of the reel sound should send your lure to a good distance. Finally, just start reeling in slowly after you cast. Glad you guys liked the game. I'll habe more on it in a few hours.

@SLJ I'm pretty sure it hasn't. And you'd need a ps3 for ps1 classics anyway unless you have a vita. @Kenshira loving it! For anyone interested KOF 13 is free with Xbox Live gold so pick it up, because it seams playable.

Re: Kenshira Plays season 2: Audio demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! Welcome to a new season of Kenshira plays, a weekly feature where I showcase audio demos of  mainstream games that are playable to those without sight. This week, we'll kick off the season with a splash as I tackle fisherman's bate 2: big ol bass for Playstation.I discovered this game at about the same time I found out about the playability of the rhythm heaven series, so almost 15 years after this game's release. In the first demo I heard for this game, the dude recording it absolutely lost his marbles when his fishing line broke, and he proceeded to beat the living crap out of his desk, which i thought was pretty funny at the time, because I'd never seen anyone overreact like that before. After that day, I snagged a copy of the game and stuck it on my psp, where it kept me entertained for hours and hours of down time when I just wasn't in the mood to fight and kill things. I got so into the game and its audio atmosphere that I even started smelling fish as I was reeling them in and they were either struggling to riggle free or leaping out of the water just to land with a tremendous splash. After weeks of playing, fisherman's bate 2 became the first non-combative sports game i ever beat.In regards to the game itself, this is the second in a trilogy of arcade-style fishing games released by Konami for Playstation in the late 90s and early 2000s. They are all playable, though its harder to hook a fish in the first game, and the sound of the reel when casting is gone in the third game, making it slightly harder to judge your distance. The third game does have talking cutsvenes during its campaign, which i think is pretty neat, and the hosts will tell you after casting if your lure is in a good spot. In spite of that, I do like the second game more, because it has a quieter atmosphere, and the announcer doesn't sound muffled by the PA system. In both the second and third game, the announcer will tell you exactly to the ounce how much your fish weighs, as well as whether or not they qualify for a tournament or are fair game for catch. Your tension gage will beep in all 3 games when your line gets tight, with quicker beeps for greater tension. Each of the games provide a host of collectables accross several modes of play, and in the demo below, I will compete in the Konami Cup bass fishing tournament. Will I be able to finish the tournament before I run out of continues? Find out in the following recording!fisherman's bate 2 audio demoThat takes us to the end of this week's episode. I hope you guys enjoyed it. It would be really nice to have audio fishing games that used similar mechanics as those in this series, but for now, this will have to do, and I do recommend checking out the fisherman's bate series if you're in the mood for something different. Next week, we'll finally tackle a fighter with stereo sound, but which one? Tune in then to find out! Until next time!
