Re: accessible CCG (collectable card games) at all? && idea for MTG

The problem is that for all the card affects and placements are text based, ditto with deck sorting, a huge draw with these things is the graphics on the cards for sighted players, so even games with a heavy text based element like harthstone do the text as wibbly graphics on screen not as bog standard text that a screen reader can get hold of. Even Fallen worlds wasn't particularly easy and access in that was never quite where it should be especially with seeing all the properties of the cards, what was played by whom etc, sinse whatever else, ccgs are fairly complex as card games go so the interface would need to be very top notch to handle them, not impossible with the sort of fixes that something like lost cities has, but not easy to do for a developer who has concentrated on a complex graphical gui with touch and use cards and pretty pictures and so on. Doable? Certainly, but we'd need a developer who is interested. dreamquest according to it's pa
ge on applevis the dev did express a lot of interest in making the game accessible, but I don't think anything came of it so maybe giving a poke would be adviseable.Soul forge I've not heard of, but might do the trick. One thing I will say, is I'd love to see a ccg, or for that matter of pokemon style game that actually gave blind people the same experience of graphics as sighted people, or at least had atmospheric descriptions to give a similar experience of real conflict and battle as sighted people have. For example, it still irritates me that so many text rpgs just say "you are fighting a goblin, you hit and do 8 damage, the goblin attacks and does 6 damage", or in ccg terms "You play your blue eyes dragon and cast fury" Sighted players actually get to see the symbols and such for these things giving far more an idea of the conflict, why do blind people always miss out? Again, really sorry Solara went down for this sin
se that was a game that did! try and give as much access to the atmosphere as to the gameplay, and any ccg I'd love to see do that.

Re: accessible CCG (collectable card games) at all? && idea for MTG

I guess not many are interested, or it's written in a way that the screenreaders can't hook into and get the text from.  But you're not the only one, I've been looking for a good CCG for a long time.  I'd really love a yu-gi-oh one, or for some one to teach me about Magic.  Think some one is going to work on something for Pokemon Showdown, and while that isn't really a CCG anymore, I'll still mess with it.  Their's also Digimon Showdown which is at the top of the Pokemon Showdown page.  Wonder how workable that is.

Re: accessible CCG (collectable card games) at all? && idea for MTG

I really don't understand how ccgs main stream card games are not assessable, its a lot of text involved with this stuff, how is it that screen readers in this day and age can't read it. once again we are talking about text not pictures and figures. they keep coming out with these jaws updates that freakin do the same thing, I don't see any improvement from the early form of jaws, to the current one 17

I would seriously pay $50 for a CCG audiogame. At least we're getting a new rpg sometime hopefully this year with a hero's call.

Re: accessible CCG (collectable card games) at all? && idea for MTG

I have been looking for an assessable cgs for some time now, I was thinking some of the more experienced audio game devs could come up with something like aprone, sam, or mason, I know they are working on there own projects, but with the skill set that they all have, I know one of them could create something pretty cool..as for now we have yugioh as a mud which is pretty decent, we just have to get more players into it, a lot of players fall off because the lack of cards.and dark I was playing fallin worlds for a while, but the site got shutdown for lack of funds, the small community that stayd playing were no longer contributing to the game

Two things first was dreamquest isn't accessible at all at the moment, but perhaps that will change in future. Another game I tried was soulforge which is surprisingly accessible, but the devs say they'll be changing up the look of the game and are unsure on how to make it accessible at all. I only mention this because perhaps someone can download it and try it out to explain what they can do

Buying dreamquest if only to try it out, doubt it'll be accessible, but 3 dollars will not kill me.

Re: accessible CCG (collectable card games) at all? && idea for MTG

Well revisiting this topic, There was a browser based thing called Fallen worlds at one time, I'm not sure what happened to it. It went through a major upgrade and I thought some access fixes were coming sinse it was a good idea, but bloody hard to review and play as it stood, but I'm now not sure where the game went. There are those custom skin things like ayakashi ghost guild on Ios, and I believe a couple of others, though again I've heard they have access issues. The best I heard was one called Dreamquest which was supposed to mix ccg elements with dungeon crawl single player rpg, but again, the developer had expressed interest but that was as far as things went. There is the yugio mud duelling client, though again I'm not sure what state that is in really. It's odd, people keep coming close with accessible ccgs, but not quite getting there it seems.

I tried that except it was a spinoff called dawn of a new era. Jaws could see the stuff in the window menu wise but go no further.

Re: accessible CCG (collectable card games) at all? && idea for MTG

So I found two programs to play Yu-Gi-Oh.  The first is Dueling Network, the second is ygo dev pro.  I wonder if ygo dev pro could be worked in accessibility.  It seems to use directX, and NVDA can see some things in the window.  I'm not able to test the deck editor though.  Dueling network I didn't try at all though, but it seems to be worse.
