Re: Sryth Kickstarter: The Aftermath

I also did not give anything to the kickstarter, however I've donated a lot in the past, and due to past experiences wasn't filled with any confidence that the game would improve.I spent months even years waiting for something, anything that showed a sign of promise, but actions speak louder than words, and there was very little action to be seen during my time playing.Perhaps one day the game will improve, I still log in from time to time in hopes something has changed, but these logins have become further and further apart and could eventually cease all together.

Re: Sryth Kickstarter: The Aftermath

Hi,@Jayde,I haven't been on sryth much lately, but i start to feel you are right about this Kickstarter. I am a huge fan of the writing and style and atmosphere of this game. But when i saw the Kickstarter, i wondered if i should jump in. After all i am glad i didn't, cause i donated more then enough the past years, and i really don't need any more packages cause when i open up my most expensive ones, my chars are god-like overpowered. But i haven't received any mails regarding updates the last 6 weeks, and that somewhat confirms your oppinion about the lac of updates. You know, i am not making enough with the products i sell to quit my job, but anybody needs a basic form of income, but while watching the backers back his project high hopes start to build up for me as well. But right now, it is a bit dissapointing. I am not even sure if he did purchase a higher class server to run sryth on. Cause i don't notice any faster behaviour, if that is possible anyway. All in all, i am glad i didn't back it, first of all for the reason described above, and secondly, that after reading experiences of other and previous players that i did doubt if the money did end up for the purposes they're being said to be raised for.I am interested to see the oppinions of other peeps as well, will keep a close eye on this one.Greetz mike

Sryth Kickstarter: The Aftermath

Sryth Kickstarter: The Aftermath

Hi there,First, let me say that I was not one of the kickstarter backers for Sryth. I would have helped a little if I could have at the time, because despite a lot of doubts, I had high hopes.Unfortunately, it's been almost six weeks since that all wrapped up and I'm...starting to be thankful I didn't contribute.Mini-rant ahead. You have been warned. So right away, I want to point out that I recognize that everyone's got a busy life, and I'm not sat here with my hand out hoping for all sorts of free stuff at the drop of a proverbial hat. I've never been that guy, and I'm not gonna start now.But this kickstarter campaign was huge. Utterly huge. This guy has gotten enough money in that one month, to say nothing of other donations he gets and special packages he sells, that he has the better part of a year's salary in his pocket. And what do players have to show for it? Well, not a whole lot. The update schedule appears just as unsteady and slow as before, when I was hoping this much financial incentive would truly allow the GM to work full-time. If it truly takes him several weeks to write, bug-test and then release even simpler adventures, what exactly was it you folks were funding in March after all?I suppose what I'm trying to say is that the expectation I had, at least, is absolutely not being met. As someone who did not donate, I am certainly not about to raise hell with the GM himself. I would rather see Sryth pick up the pace and succeed than fail, so I hope the GM turns it around. I'm just...not sold. And I'm afraid that now the hole is much, much deeper. Speaking personally, if he doesn't start generating high-quality content on a much more timely basis, I'm going to have to conclude that the kickstarter was another form of money grab.I very much doubt he quit his job to focus on Sryth, but talking about it as if he wanted to work on the game full-time sounds like a job you do six to eight hours a day for three to five days a week. It does not feel as if this is happening.I will address this in the months to come, to see where everything's at, but so far, not so good.Thoughts? Opinions? Criticisms? I'd rather not start a flame war over this, but I also think it's reasonable to call potential foul here. Let me know what you think.
