However, not unlocking access prevents starting it. the bit about the ring is discussed during your first discussion with him when you try to recruit him into your party. What starts his character quest is talking to that equipment merchant at the settlement and beginning that chain of quests to grab items from the other areas. Simion starts talking a lot about what he used to do along the way to each item. Re: Starting the AHC Character Quests? SpoilerYou can ask Simeon about the stolen signet ring after he joins you. Another more amusing way is to visit Nigel's house once Simeon is recruited. Either way you have the option of asking Simeon about the ring. If you agree to return the ring to Nigel you can't complete the rest of Simeon's quest. As others have said, you officially start Gwen's quest once you visit Adrianus Mausoleum with her in your party. Then she either tells you to read the Tale of Titus Adrianus or, if you took it from the study earlier, you mention that you have it and in either case the quest automatically advances to the next section.
