But this evening the building continued slightly. I finetuned the background mode some more. Cause some random events still were showing itself, while others didn't. Re: Your_adventure beta 3.0 released slight request for the future for sound effects and character creation:when I made my last character for the game, I wanted the character to be female and named her accordingly. I know there was no option to say what gender you wanted, but forgot about one of the sound effects you had in the game. When you get hurt, you cry out in an obviously male voice. My request is that you ask what sex we want our characters to be, make some slight pronoun changes where needed to accommodate that in descriptions and dialog, and also provide alternate sound effects. If I want to be a female, I should make a female pained sound when I get hit.Still a great game, just something I'd like to see. I thought Windows security essentials was the precurser to windows defender which came with windows 7 and 8, but the standard for windows 10 was windows defender which is known to haveproblems with some Bgt applications, though not if you create exceptions folders as I mentioned. Re: Your_adventure beta 3.0 released If you see no exe file, it probably means its been eaten by your antivirus program. I'd recommend making a folder an exception from scanning (I've got one called audiogames), then moving the zip file there from downloads and extracting and running the game from there. If your using windows defender, you can make a folder an exception by opening windows defender, going to "antivirus settings" and finding the "add exclusions" button. you will then have a list box to select either a file or folder to be excluded and then can brows for that folder. what I particularly like with Windows defender, is that unlike many antiviruses it actually remembers when you create an exception even through updates, so it won't suddenly change its mind and eat up your games. This will varie between a minimal and a maximal value. This may require some balancing. It is not nice if someone only says something not so nice without giving any constructive ideas.So let my try to make some sugestions:Would it be possible to change the combat-system to a little more actionbased?For example.If you start a fight, you will hear an indicating beep which is going up. This beep represents your attack-status-bar. If it raised up you can perform an action like throwing a shurican by pressing s or simply hit with h. If you here your enemys weaponsattack you have to press down for a block. This blockingaction with cut something from your attackstatusbar.This is just a little example for a more interesting combatsystem. As it is now I felt like kick barely did as much damage as the regular attack so in the end I ended up not using it at all, since I could only use it once anyway.Also I feel like the fights give so few experience points when taking into consideration how long each fight lasts. I ended up buying a crapton of shuriken to speed things along. To cook applepie mix you'll need 2 apples, 1 sugarbeet and 3 raisins, to make the final apple pie, you'll need 1 apple pie mix and a single dough. All areas except the castlevania one have random events, and more will be added for each area over time Our tests with the mac port looked promising. It always is possible that strange behaviour can occur, but the tests we did looked good. I mean, with quest descriptions it is simple to add, i only have to introduce a new keypress. This would be a good starting point. The room descriptions can also be repeated, by adding an option to the menu's which give you the chance to listen to the description again, but i am a bit hesitant to add this kind of solution, cause it will add another option to the menus, unless i create an option in the options menu which will hide those options when players don't want to see it …I am thinking out loud guys, but … Any thoughts regarding this? If it makes things too easy, you might want to put something that makes it a little harder to do. For example you might require a gold fee and/or a special NPC to equip or change a title, perhaps a bard or a town crier, or change it a bit depending on area.Alternatively or additionally, if it proves too easy, you might have the requirement that you can only change your title once per season or something like that.Also to keep a lot of tricky stuff out of the way, keep a lot of titles simply cosmetic and only meake the really tough ones matter. While its not an rpg with a strict action focus and lots of complex combat, if you just want a really nice game with a break where you can wander around, chat to the locals, take in the atmosphere, harvest things and see what you can make this is absolutely perfect. I can't wait until more crafts and more quests get added, in particular it'll be cool when you can mine and smith and make tools and then engage in further crafts down the line, indeed if the Castlevania addon is a sign of things to come this could be absolutely huge.
