Re: a question abowt python 3

@4There are enough reasons to not associate .py files with python that I don't even know where to start, and I think it was a mistake that they ever tried to allow it.

Re: a question abowt python 3

Yeah if you use virtualenv you don't need this. Also on windows, when using the -p option, you don't need to know the path where it is installed unlike on *nix systems. The version number will suffice.

Re: a question abowt python 3

I don't even think there is a purpose in using the launcher anymore, unless you need to run legacy Python 2 code. Looking through the abstract of PEP 397, the launcher is intended to be associated in Windows Explorer with .py files instead of a specific python version, so that Unix-style indicators can be used in python scripts to indicate the Python version to launch. So if you need multiple Python versions for whatever reason, it might be worth it. Otherwise, probably not.

Re: a question abowt python 3

I'd suggest using python.exe directly, yes, and more to the point virtualenvs.  I don't know if the py launcher still exists or not, but every time I've tried to use it it has ended in tears.

Re: a question abowt python 3

I'm not sure as it's even still there.Does pythonw.exe still exist after installation?#I'm sure someone said it was buggy to begin with, but I may have dreamed that.
