Re: maps in rtr?

Maps can only be edited if they are in the map maker's subfolder. You can't open existing maps by typing in their name at the new map prompt, (stupidly) you can only create a new map, then use the slash key to open the open map dialog and type in the name of the map you actually want.  The new map you started for this purpose won't actually be saved. The map maker will save your edited map with the name specified in the first line of the file, rather than the actual filename.Remember to add an extra 2 units to each axis in order to make room for basic map borders when creating a new map, E.G. a 50 by 50 map should actually be 52 by 52.Key overview for the map maker:/: - Load MapEscape: Save and exitI: Increase map sizeUp,Down,Left,Right: Move the coursor, hold down to go fasterC: Check CoordinatesM: Move to a specific set of coordinatesShift G - Select tile type for placingSpace: place a single tile or use as a replacement for enter when skipping through dialogsZ: Toggle autodraw, allows you to insert the last placed tile as you goPeriod: Fill one row horizontally with the selected tileComma: Fill one row vertically with the selected tile1, 2, 3, and 4: use these on the bottom left, bottom right, top right, and top left (in that order) of the area that you want to have quickly paved all in one type of tileEnter: Fill the area defined by your markers with a selected tile. Also used for skipping dialogs, can be held down.Semicolon: Fill the entire map with the selected tileX: Change the last placed tileShift A - Select type 1 ambience (stationary non destructibles)Shift S - Select type 2 ambience (stationary destructibles)Shift D - Select Type 3 ambience (Moving destructibles)Shift F - Select Type 4 ambience (Non-Panning background)R: - Remove item, when standing on oneThere are 4 types of ambiance, types 1 through 4; who's sample's are located in the tiles subfolder within the map maker, and are played when cycling through them in menus or stepping on them while editing a map.  These files all correspond to the full length versions within the game's sound folder, under entities, and can be added to by simply creating a file with the same name as one you've added and using a small piece of that sound. All of these files can be in either stereo or mono. The same goes for terrain types, you can find them in the main sound folder under steps, just add to the sequence of subdirectories (they don't even have to be in order you could go from 22 to 40 if you wanted to) then take one of the steps and copy it into the map maker's tiles folder, under walk, to use your new floor type in the map maker.
