Re: nvda remote on a local network

You would download the code for the server, its up on some github repo somewhere. Then, you would run the server on one of your pc's within the local network and make sure that machine's firewall doesn't block it. Finally, you connect both machines (one of which could be the server itself) to that server's ip, ey presto, NVDA remote on the local network. In theory, anyway. Full disclaimer, I haven't tried this, but see no reason why it wouldn't work.

On the machine you wish to be controlled:1. NVDA Menu, Tools, Remote, Connect2. In the connect dialog, select the server radio button, then the Allow this machine to be controlled radio button3. enter a memorable key4. click connect5. Write down the IP address and key of this machine somewhere. The IP can be found with ipconfig or through the control panel. On the machine you wish to work from:1. NVDA Menu, Tools, Remote, Connection2. Client Radio Button, Control Another Machine radio button (defaults)3. In host enter the IP from before4. In key enter the key from before.Click OK and you should be connected.

Re: nvda remote on a local network

I've actually done this before and it works. I downloaded a compiled version of the unofficial NVDA remote server. I simply ran the nvdaRemoteServer.exe file and the server was running. Then on the computer you want to controlNVDA, Tools, Remote, Connect. Select allow this machine to be controlled. In the host field, type localhost. Then type a key into the key field. Click ok and it will connect. Now get the local IP address of that computer. There are very many ways to do this. you could use ipconfig, you could go to the network and sharing center and go to the properties page of your active network connection, anyway. Get the local IP such as 192.168.1.22. On the computer you are using to control the host machine aka the one you connected to localhost, go to the connect dialog, control another machine, host as the IP address you got from your host machine, and the key. Make sure windows firewall on the host machine is turned off, or windows will block the
connection. Basicly saying what all these previous posts said in a more detailed way. You could try ctoths suggestion, though personally I have not gotten this to work. It may sceme a bit complicating when you first look at it, but once you have downloaded the server, just keep reading these posts and try to follow the steps as there generally the same. I have done this exactly the way I described, and it worked flawlessly.
