Re: you don't know jack, which ones to get?

Thanks for that Pitermach, I got the bundle. One thing that is great to know is that you can use OCR to know what category you are picking.  I didn't think it would be able to read anything in these.  also everything seems to be selectable through keyboard navigation, which is good.  Looking forward to getting many needed laughs.

@smoothgunner, Technically, though you'll probably want to stream the console Windows to a Windows computer so you can OCR it.Yeah I'm not gonna spend like 40 quid for the first 5 packs, even discounted. It doesn't look like they come with the soundtracks either, though I guess I could just access the internal game files if I had to.

Re: you don't know jack, which ones to get?

I would recommend grabbing the whole bundle if you liked YDKJ in either Jackbox 1 or 5. Some of the question types, like the attacks in every volume as well as a handful in others like freeways in Volume 3 and IIRC The ride also had some kind of visual question, those aren't doable. But 95% of the games are textual questions read out by the host, and much like the newer games they are brimming with personality with every wrong answer getting a unique comment from the host, musical jingles for question numbers, amusing backstage commentary while you do things like entering in your names and of course, the commertials. Every volume has a ton of them and they're hilarious. Something else I just thought of that might be worth trying is using something like lion for the attacks which might very well work to make those accessible as well. But yeah, if you liked the jackbox games I'd definitely pick these up.

Re: you don't know jack, which ones to get?

A few months ago, I bought all the original games offered on Steam in what I believe is called the YDKJ Classic Pack. I think they're all quite good, except for Volume 6: The Lost Gold. That title may or may not work on systems running Windows 10 (it won't work on mine, and I ended up uninstalling it). According to reviews I read on Steam, the developer claimed they would release a patch for it, but that was years ago. Other than that, it's a good collection, though accessibility could be better for some of the question types.Hope this helps.Yours Sincerely,Kelly Sapergia

Re: mainstream: you don't know jack classic pack released on steam!

Ah, the You Don't Know Jack games. Those were some great memories. I remember the original PlayStation versio had two disks. One cotained all or most of the questions from YDKJ volume 3 and the other had all new ones. That was my favorite game. I liked COokie better than Schmittie as a host. Cookie was a lot more sarcastic and had a much more suitable voice for that sort of thing. Schmittie, who I first encountered in You Don't Know Jack Mock 2, sounded too much like Al Bundy from Married with Children for my taste. LOL. Then of course the game voices weren't as fun, the one that would ask you how many players were playing and such. In Mock 2 it was just this female computer voice that never got annoyed with you when you took your time, which was one of the funny parts of the older games. I know in later games like Fifth Dementia those quirks were reintroduced. I also loved how if you sat around on the Game Over screen you could hear spoof commercials.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=154914#p154914

Re: mainstream: you don't know jack classic pack released on steam!

You don't Know Jack Info:Most of it is self explanatary, as it's mostly voiced. However, for a few things, you  may have to know what you're doing.Quitting a game: if the game is in progress, press escape. You can then press r to resume, q to quit, n for new game, or s for new game with same players. If the game is over, you won't have to press escape before doing this.Volume 4, the ride, startup: Unfortunately, this isn't voiced. You can either wait it out for a crazy surprise, or press 1 or 2. It might be best to wait for the voice first before pressing anything because it says some funny stuff. If you wait too long though, it'll get angry. Don't worry, it's all in the name of fun, it won't be rude but it will be, let's just say, abrupt, and leave it at that. It's very funny though. In the other games, if you do this, it starts the game as a sort of quickplay thing. IN the ride, things are differ
ent.All games: Buzzing in: if you are in a single player game, press b to buzz. If it's a three player game, it's q, b, and p, or it might be q, t, and p, depending on the game. That's basically it, the rest, it's 1, 2, 3, or 4, to answer, and it'll tell you the rest via voice. There are also some easter eggs that I'll leave you all to discover. So, everyone, enjoy, and I'll post some recording later.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=154857#p154857

2013-11-09 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — General Game Discussion: aaron

mainstream: you don't know jack classic pack released on steam!

Hi all,You don't know jack is a trivia game. Most of the questions are read allowed, and it's all controled with the keyboard. However, the final round known as Jack Attack isn't really playable, you're better off just sitting through it. Note: this game isn't really kid friendly unless they can really handle toilet humour and stuff. Beware. Maybe Headrush could be slightly more family friendly, it's a spinoff of you don't know jack, see below for why I'm bringing this up though.I picked up an epic deal the other day on steam. You don't know jack volume 1 xl, volume 2, volume 3, volume 4 the ride, volume 6 the lost gold, (but they didn't have volume five though), but wait, there's more, television, sports, movies, and head rush... 9 games... for fifteen UK pounds! The only downside is you need to use steam to get this pack, but it's well worth the price.Me, pitermach and erion played a game of The
Ride yesterday on Teamtalk, I enabled stereomix and my microphone and buzzed in when they asked me to.Best of all, all this stuff works on windows 7 and 8!To get the pack, search for a you don't know jack game on the steam store, then click it. Then, it'll say packages that include this game, and should come up with the you don't know jack classic pack. You buy that, and then you go to the library in the steam client, and in stall each game from there. If you've never used steam though, it could be a right pain to set up if you don't have sighted help, particularly as captchas are involved in the account process and web visum doesn't really work with it anymore, so, below I've included a few tips for first time steam users, for more info on the you don't know jack menus and how games work, see the second post.Create an account on the steam website, get help with that blasted captcha by any means necessary.Log
in to the account on the website then go to search the store. Find a game you want then buy it, or a pack, or whatever. For You Don't Know Jack stuff, search for a game name, click on a game, then find the classic pack from there. It will take you to the shopping cart. From there, click purchase or continue shopping depending on what you want to do. When you're ready, click purchase for a gift or for yourself, depending on what you want to do. It'll ask you for some info and your payment method, but you can save it for future reference. It should then be smooth sailing, it's time to install steam. So, go ahead, install steam, then you have to input a few commands. To do this:Go to the steam shortcut on the desktop, and go to it's properties.Change the target to the following if you are on win7, if on xp just remove the x86 part. this includes the quotes to allow the program to launch and it's arguments."C:\Program Files (x8
6)\Steam\Steam.exe" -no-dwrite -login username passwordNote: don't do the login part if you're on a pc with multiple users, but if it's yours, go ahead, as it's much easier. This will allow you to use this program fairly safely with NVDA, using it's cursors, no tabbing around here really.Use the mouse to go from window to window, route NVDA'[s mouse cursor to the thing you want.Note 1: When you first start steam it'll update itself.note 2: update news sections (it basically tells you new releases and stuff) aren't really readable, just click close, or try OCR if you have it. If not then just click close.Your games will be in your library.Click library, choose the game you want, then click install. It'll tell you the space required, and then you click next. It'll then give you a destination folder, click next. Then, to track your download progress, look in your system tray. When you&#
039;ve seen it's done, a shortcut will be on the desktop that you can run, or you can just click play in the library. I've actually moved all my steam shortcuts including the client itself, to a separate folder.I hope this helps, and I hope some of you will get this you don't know jack classic pack!URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=154854#p154854
