WAV files do not have replay gain (I'm pretty sure), FLAC files do. So if you've enabled replaygain for your FLACs there will be an audible difference, simply due to the volume adjustment. It is well established that volume differences have a very strong affect on perceived audio quality. -- opaqueice opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34122 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

The article says Sonos and Slim Devices both use very good analog-to-digital converters in their products, which means you can connect their analog outputs to a high-quality self-amplified speaker system and get great results. Surely they mean digital-to-analog convertors?? -- cbemoore cbemoore's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=163 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54294 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

But, they are not cheap, mine were about $1200 for the pair. They are pretty ugly, they are fine for my recording studio, but way too ugly for my wife's approval. And the big thing: they are studio monitors. They aim to reveal what the music sounds like. They do not hide anything with warmth. I also have a pair of Swans M-200's (based on a recommendation from this forum some time ago). They're serving as bedroom speakers right now, hooked up to a Tivo and an SB2. Sound quality is (IMHO) excellent for the price, and the build quality is also pretty amazing. Highly recommended if you can find a pair (I think they've been discontinued for a while). http://www.swanspeaker.com/product/htm/view.asp?id=3 -- radish radish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=77 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54559 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
