Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Duet And Transporter Sound Comparison
The transporter with a good powerchord, -filter and AES/EBU digital connetction to external DAC with master wordclock, really outperforms the SB3 SPDIF digital output in my setup. -- Rocket Rocket's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23381 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58446 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Improving quality of original Squeezebox
All you do is put them across the capacitors already there. Are you saying that you connected the new caps in parallel with the old ones? If so, how come that the resulting 110.1 is making a noticeable difference in audio quality? Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Transporter on the way vs my exsisting SB3
SJobson;385365 Wrote: While I've not heard a Transporter, it is readily apparent that DACs do not all sound the same. My SB3 sounded better using my old Sony MD deck as a DAC, and really excellent through my current Musical Fidelity X-DAC V8. I'm sure it will be quite apparent whether the Transporter sounds better than the SB3. Do let us know :) Used your Sony MD as a DAC, how did you do this, I need to send in my CJ DAC for repair and have an old Sony MD player sitting around and would like to give it a try. -- jdbaker SB3/Parasound C2/A51/PSB CHS60's/CHS40/Triad Gold Dipole Inwall Surrounds/Triad Inwall Silver Sub. dpuopolo - would you mind, posting a pic? so the ones of us that are interested and not knowing much about electronics and have a soldering iron, may be able to follow a picture while not understanding the electronic words. ModelCitizen;365952 Wrote: If you want 24/96 you'll have to get a Transporter, but if 24/48 will suffice I can recommend the AT Tunes modded SB3, known as the SB+. It does sound much better than the SB3 (via it's own analogue outs, no need for a third party DAC). http://www.at-tunes.co.uk/ I've tried the SB3 with various DACS (inc. Benchmark) and PSUs but the SB+ sounded best to me. I also have a Transporter. MC If you have a transporter and an SB+ (which I also have) I would be most interested to know which you think sounds best using analogue outputs, and for what reasons. -- adrianh1960 adrianh1960's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5421 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54335 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

neskor;390270 Wrote: FYI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decoupling_capacitor If the OP means the electrolytic capacitors on the analog outputs, than it has nothing to do with decoupling capacitors. A decoupling capacitor always has one end connected to the return-path of the signal... which would be ground in this case. Would hurt the sound quality severely. The caps on the analog outputs block DC. cheers, Nick. -- DeVerm DeVerm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18104 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58554 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
