[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Logitech Android App Squeezebox

2012-09-06 Thread pkfox

Hi All, just downloaded Android app for Squeezebox and can't get it to
connect to my local server - is it limited to squeezeserver.com ? if so
how do I access my local music using this app ? my sb server is on my
wired LAN and Android device is connected by WiFi ( to the same router
though )

It would work fine if 96000 was used, however, IMO if your music
collection is mainly at a 44.1kHz sampling rate (e.g. CD derived) it
makes much more sense to use 88200. Little if anything will be gained
from using 96000 and the computational complexity of resampling from
44.1 to 96 is an order of magnitude greater than that needed to resample
from 44.1 to 88.2. That also applies to Inguiz of course.

PS I have corrected the link I gave in an earlier post. It should have
 been:

Thanks- the link still works for me. TBH I just used used Phil Leigh's
custom convert.conf settings. I appreciate the relative complexity of
the sampling rate conversion, but since its being done on my multi core
PC I am not sure it really matters in the way it might do for a dsp chip
on a dac. It's worth pointing out that Lots of dac automatically
upsample to 96 or 192 anyway, and if so I think it's better done by SOX
on balance.

guys hear an improvement?

I think you will also need to run a player app such as SqueezePlayer
to listen on your Android dev.

The app Squeezebox Remote plainly states it only works with msb.com

I use Orange Squeeze and SqueezePlayer on my nexus 7.

It should find it and no, the App is not limited to MySqueezebox.com.
banned for life is right, you need to be connected to your WiFi
network, but you said you checked for that.

Which model of Android device is this? There have been some htc models
that had trouble with UDP broadcasts which means the server can't be
automatically detected, in this case you need to use one of the 3rd
party Apps that support manual configuration of the server address since
the Logitech App doesn't.
I know OrangeSqueeze and SqueezeCommander do, probably also some of the
free ones.
