Back in 1970 our quad setup consisted of a radio in each corner of the
room listening to Casey Kasem's Top40.
We applied judicious amounts of herbals to convince ourselves that we
had achieved surround sound.

I totally agree. That's why I said YMMV. While I can still hear up to
13kHz, there is a roll off above 8kHz.

sold the Bifrost. This was a subjective evaluation onlymy ears, my

As for the sound of Dacs, my Bifrost has the AKM4396, so in theory
should sound no better or different than the Touch.
But it does, even very much so. So it seem it is not only the chip that
 makes the difference.

I too had a Bifrost in my system. However my experience was the
opposite.
I acquired a 2 input passive preamp, a Schiit Sys. Feeding the outputs
of the Bifrost and the Touch analog into it, I used my sophisticated
random blind AB switching system (my wife switching inputs) for
evaluation.
I was unable to discern any differences with my 70 year old ear/brain
interface. I sold the Bifrost.

ps. My wife didn't hear a difference either.
