Digital Signal Processing can be any number of things, with PEQ being a
part of that. However, in my own processing pipeline, I'm using it to
apply PEQ for both Speaker and Room Correction EQ, and then I'm doing
some Volume Leveling and Loudness Compensation. I'll occasionally add
some Stereo Widening to pipeline as well. Finally, I have it transcoding
the results of the processing to 24/48 *.flac for bandwidth savings when
streaming via WiFi.

Tonal accuracy is my goal with this, and these are some of the same
tools that my sound engineering friends use on a daily basis.

I got the InguzEQ plug-in installed and configured properly, by the way.
So now, I've got server-side DSP and no need to purchase additional
hardware for the job.

I've stress tested my server, which is a Dell Optiplex 990 MT (i7 2600)
that I paid ~90USD for 7 years ago, by having it stream to 6 network
players simultaneously -- with all of the DSP I mentioned above running
uniquely and independently for each player.

The server's CPU never reached over 8% utilization while doing so and
the sound was a high fidelity as anyone could ask for.

All the best...

It's the onboard network player of a Klipsch PowerGate streaming
integrated amplifier. It supports UPnP-DLNA.

Anyway, heres a 500 line log in pdf with the tokenized commands. The
Beyondjazz track is the HE-AAC one:

Both types play fine now. The HE-AAC files just don't get a tokenized
command with InguzEQ.exe in it, and AAC LC files do even though they
both share the *.m4a file extension.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Inguz EQ/DRC

2022-11-02 Thread artatgray

Hello,

I've a number of m4a files. Some are encoded as HE-AAC SBR and others as
AAC LC. However, they all share the same file extension, that being *.
m4a.

The latter have no problem being passed through the InguzEQ pipeline on
the way to transcoding. However, the former does not.

It's especially perplexing since they all share the same file extension
as I've mentioned already.

What information does anyone need to help me resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have a number of *.m4a files. The lower bitrate ones are encoded as
HE-ACC SBR, where as the others are AAC LC.

The issue I'm having is I can't get the former into the InguzEQ pipeline
for processing. The AAC LC ones are processed as I require, though, and
they're all using the *.m4a extension. I've verified this in the log.

It's perplexing.

What information do you need from me to help diagnost the problem?

Thanks in advance...

2022-10-10 Thread artatgray

Hi all,

I've seeing the following in the log for InguzEQ, its logging level I've
set to "Debug“:

(261) InguzEQ: jiveTopMenu
[22-10-11 05:27:19.5525] Plugins::InguzEQ::Plugin::debug (261) InguzEQ:
0=Bass
[22-10-11 05:27:19.5526] Plugins::InguzEQ::Plugin::debug (261) InguzEQ:
1=Treble
[22-10-11 05:27:19.5528] Plugins::InguzEQ::Plugin::debug (261) InguzEQ:
F=Flatness
[22-10-11 05:27:19.5529] Plugins::InguzEQ::Plugin::debug (261) InguzEQ:
L=Quietness
[22-10-11 05:27:19.5530] Plugins::InguzEQ::Plugin::debug (261) InguzEQ:
B=Balance
[22-10-11 05:27:19.5531] Plugins::InguzEQ::Plugin::debug (261) InguzEQ:
W=Width

What I'm concerned about is the Treble value set to "1" when Treble
isn't an option on the control panel.

What gives?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I've got the revised InguzEQ installed and apparently activated.

I generated an impulse response file based upon my desired target EQ
curve per the documented requirements (32 float wav) in REW.

Because the EQ adjustments are subtle, I need a log to verify that
InguzEQ is doing its thing properly.

How would I go about producing it?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] I'm a LMS convert...

2022-09-29 Thread artatgray

After a half a decade of auditioning a number of media server packages,
Logitech Media Server has made me into a convert.

In the past, I've auditioned Roon (over priced for what it offers),
JRiver (the remote control apps are lacking, and the CEO's attitude
towards customers is confrontational, but its DSP-Over-DLNA facility is
very good), BubbleUPnP Server (adequate but without DSP), Plex (I just
didn't like the GUI/UX), MusicBee (I still use it as a local player, but
it's UPnP-DLNA server plug-in is buggy), and Emby (a beautiful and
pleasant GUI/UX, but no DSP).

I settled on Emby with a couple of other applications (AutoEQ, Macast
and Desktop Audio Streamer) in order to apply DSP to Google Cast and
DLNA streams. It worked fine, and the UX was pleasant, but having to run
three other applications along side it just didn't set well with me; as
a software engineer and data scientist, efficiency and optimization are
big deals to me.

Although I'd seen mentions of LMS I just never got around to auditioning
it. I think the current open source nature of the project put me off as
I've not had good experiences with such in the past. Well, I can now say
that I shouldn't have let that put me off.

I've been auditioning LMS over the past two weeks and have found it to
be an impressive piece of software. I guess I really shouldn't be
surprised, though, given its commercial origins.

Well done to all the developers involved. You've made me another
satisfied convert...
