[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Onkyo DAC vs. SB3's DAC?
I'm not an audiophile, but I think this is the best place to find an answer to my question... I've been using my SB3 analog out to an 15-year-old Kenwood receiver and been happy with that. That receiver just died and I picked up an Onkyo TX-SR304 to replace it. I was considering using the coaxial digital out from the SB3 to the Onkyo. I've already searched the forums and found lots of good information, enough to tell me that I should at least try this. But I'd like to know more abou the DAC that the Onkyo uses. All I can find on the 'net or in the documentation is that the DAC is 192Khz, 24-bit. I can't find any other details. I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether the DAC in the Onkyo might be better than the DAC in my SB3. Or is the SB3's DAC so much more superior that it wouldn't even be worth trying to go digital? -- byKnight Really, it was like that when I got here. byKnight's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7011 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30142 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

I thought I smelled a fellow guitar geek! :) Nothing like that period of time when the top on a new guitar starts to open up. But if you perceive a change in how the audio being pumped out of your SB sounds, the difference is much, much, much more likely to be ocurring in one or more of the following: 1. Your ears 2. Your brain 3. Your room -- byKnight Really, it was like that when I got here. byKnight's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7011 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29025 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
